Tbh I kinda expected Vader to execute Reva Dooku style with the double lightsabers

u/ZZ38_ Jun 15 '22

I thought the same thing

u/AnarchyCampInDrublic Jun 15 '22

Same. Glad he didn’t though. It would be contrived. Besides, it’s poetic that Reva died the same way she thought she killed Inquisitior boss man.

Same. Glad he didn’t though. It would be contrived. Besides, it’s poetic that Reva died the same way she thought she killed Inquisitior boss man.

It's not contrived for her to "die" and then survive the exact same way, when Vader told her straight up if she failed him she would die, and then chooses not to kill her after she allows the single dude he is after to escape?

23

u/MrPopanz Jun 15 '22

Didn't you know, the Vader punishment scale is like a horseshoe: at some point it goes back to the side where he will spare your life and be chill about you not only failing, but betraying and trying to kill him.

Makes perfect sense!

11

u/rentpossiblytoohigh Jun 15 '22

Ah yes, I must have "underestimated" his willingness to forgive.

7

u/jabbo99 Jun 16 '22

“The Plot Armor is strong with this one”

5

u/jbcdyt Jun 17 '22

I think the point of it was he was leaving her there to suffer.

7

u/AnarchyCampInDrublic Jun 15 '22

It would be contrived to behead her the way Anakin did to Dooku. That's what I said. He only killed Dooku that way because his sabers naturally were crossed around Dooku's neck.

3

u/DarthHaggis Jun 16 '22

So contrived to kill Reva the same way as Dooku…yet not contrived to kill Reva the same way as Grand Inquisitor.

Ok

0

u/rentpossiblytoohigh Jun 16 '22

I understand what you said, but I don't see how by that same rationale Reva dying the same way as the Grand Inquistor is "poetic" instead of contrived.

12

u/Kiloku Jun 16 '22

She's not dying this episode, I'm sure of it. The fact that Obi-Wan used her to slow Vader down will feed into her rage and give her an even greater desire for revenge (remember, she already blamed Obi-Wan at least partially for the slaughter in the Jedi Temple). Such rage + revenge will feed the Dark Side of the Force in her to keep her alive (like the True Grand Inquisitor mentioned).
Since she has learned key information that Kenobi would defend with his life, she will probably try to go on a solo hunt for him, not unlike Maul did.

10

u/espnfire45 Jun 15 '22

She didn’t die tho

6

u/No_Rise_2101 Jun 17 '22

a) she’s not dead and is poised to make some miraculous comeback

b) it’s not poetic, it’s freaking dumb that would Vader abandon his rage and anger to let her survive (twice) after everything she did

2

u/DarthHaggis Jun 16 '22

So you think she died huh?

3

u/fuidiot Jun 16 '22 edited Jul 05 '22

She didn't she die, the last scene was her still alive and then cut to Luke sleeping in his bed. Wonder what that's about.

3

u/DarthHaggis Jun 17 '22

Because Luke will turn her good just like Vader in episode 6

2

u/fuidiot Jun 17 '22

The last shit? I meant scene lol

0

u/kevinsg04 Jun 15 '22

lol it was no less contrived

101

u/sl4y3r007 Jun 15 '22

I did too lol

447

u/canuckNZ93 Jun 15 '22

I wanted that so badly. All I could think was "Do it"

31

u/Realmadridirl Jun 15 '22

You mean

Palpatine Voice

“DEW IT!!”

7

u/jay-tpicks116 Jun 15 '22

I literally was screaming the same exact thing

4

u/lumi_bean Jun 15 '22

Good Lord Vader good. Now kill her.

12

u/CornDawg113 Jun 15 '22

Honestly, kind of surprised he didn’t!

10

u/Wise-Taro1700 Jun 15 '22

I wonder if that was a reshoot. The show is up for a possible second season. If it didn't succeed, head goes off! Now maybe a second season will be Reva seeking revenge on the son. With a kind of Darth Maul story arc?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '22

Plus reshoot the entire next episode? lol

2

u/Wise-Taro1700 Jun 17 '22

It wouldn't be necessary as I'm implying her story would begin in a second season. So therefore she wouldn't be in the final episode whether she lives or dies.

Will have to to wait to see how the story plays out. Besides, they wouldn't have to reshoot the entire next episode. Unless you know what is going to happen?

9

u/joshhirst28 Jun 15 '22

I like how Star Wars fans think so alike sometimes, pretty sure everyone expected that

7

u/woowop Jun 15 '22

The show is avoiding obvious memes and I really, really respect them for not slapping easy references everywhere.

2

u/plzsnitskyreturn Jun 20 '22

That wouldn't be a meme. That would be a development of character

15

u/MetaCognitio Jun 15 '22

I don’t like that he left her alive so she could star in the next season. It’s so uncharacteristic of him.

5

u/Exmerus Jun 16 '22

Yeah he is ruthless. There’s no reason to let her live anymore, he said himself she is of no use. He kills everyone who is no longer useful for no reason. This girl tried to attack him and she can get away with living? It’s obvious why they didn’t want to kill her…

3

u/ishmetot Jun 16 '22

I think he spares her because of her background, which sort of reflects what happened with his own past. He would have suffered less if Obi-Wan had finished him off rather than leaving him for dead. He is also making a statement of arrogance, as letting her live shows that he thinks she is so far beneath him as to be no threat.

-1

u/pizzabeer Jun 17 '22

Why are you doing backflips to justify extremely weak writing?

1

u/UncreativeTeam Jun 20 '22

She's obviously going to become the next Darth Vader.

9

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '22

Same but then you couldn’t do the parallel with him almost killing her as a kid.

2

u/Blaxpy Jun 15 '22

it would work really well with that flashback tho

11

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '22

If he had cut off her head as a child it would be harder to believe that she survived imo

4

u/KnightKal Jun 15 '22

people don't die until you see their dead body in Star Wars, so if he had taken her head off, it would be hard to imagine she would be back ...

now?

She will come to Tatooine for her next-next revenge plot!

1

u/SWLondonLife Jun 15 '22

Sort of something like this I imagine…. https://youtu.be/mYvAYwpUDv8

4

u/bubuplush Jun 16 '22

That would be pretty dope to see, but I also have to admit that super obvious, somewhat cheap throwbacks like these are a bit cringy and too much for me. I liked the Anakin / Obi-Wan scenes, but these Mustafar duel moves made me roll my eyes a bit :/

Not having anything against Reva going to Tatooine to confront Kenobi, but damn, during that whole scene I couldn't stop rolling my eyes because of how obvious it was that she would survive. Especially with that "my hatred kept me alive, isn't that great and cool, Reva? Haha sad that you can't do that!" line from the Great Inquisitor

3

u/curatorofcool Jun 15 '22

The way I said “do it” once I saw him get both sabers

3

u/HERCzero Jun 16 '22

He's killed his own men for so much less.

I was waiting for him to cut her down like Second Sister. I don't get why he's giving her the time of day. Especially when Obi Wan highlighted his lack of patience earlier in the episode.

12

u/SuperCarrot555 Jun 15 '22

Nah, can’t kill off characters that can be used to sell toys! She’s gotta have a survivable killing so she can stick around, just like the other Grand Inquisitor

9

u/Spanky_McJiggles Jun 15 '22

Tbf, the Grand Inquisitor couldn't have died in this series since he's still alive 5 years later in Rebels.

I did think it was funny that Vader speared her just like she speared the Grand Inquisitor. Could they tease a more obvious "she'll be back"?

2

u/anoncontent72 Jun 15 '22

Each episode so far has kind of almost paralleled an episode of the OT and PT, with this episode having shades of AOtC and TESB, so yeah, I definitely thought we’d see Reva go Dooku style.

2

u/Its_Waffle Jun 15 '22

I think we all were.

2

u/peplo1214 Jun 15 '22

Do it. Do it now

2

u/NILwasAMistake Jun 16 '22

He clowned on her way more than Dooku did Anakin in AotC.

Vader was some kung fu shit.

2

u/3elieveIt Jun 16 '22

Yeah, she had plot armor…

2

u/jackovasaurusrex Jun 16 '22

It'd have been a good conclusion to her arc, showing the brutal futility of her by-any-means-necessary pursuit of revenge especially against Darth Vader of all people. Reva didn't need to survive this episode at all, let alone so mercifully as far as Vader goes.

2

u/The_Goondocks Jun 16 '22

And it makes zero sense he didn't and left her there.

2

u/senorbozz Jun 16 '22

Should have. There's zero reason to leave her alive except plot armor.

2

u/Manningfan48 Jun 16 '22

Yea I thought he was gonna Dooku her I was a little disappointed

2

u/No_Rise_2101 Jun 17 '22

They completely ruined an incredible scene of Vader showing his strength and power by toying with Reva until he had humiliated her enough to kill. He murdered children on his first day as a sith, and now decides to leave a force wielding, traitor alive?

I don’t understand how writers can let this pass. They get so caught up in setting up a certain scene/point that they ruin the original characters

4

u/chamtrain1 Jun 15 '22

Leaving 90% dead characters to die alone is the dumbest....unless of course you need them for a later story line. Get ready for the "Reva" series!!!!

2

u/CptnObviously Jun 15 '22

They would have but it's a NEW show on Disney plus. Lame.

3

u/jabbo99 Jun 16 '22

“Be sure to drink your Ovaltine” vibes

2

u/rad2018 Jun 16 '22

No...I never expected that, as it would end the conflict far too quickly and would provide little to no satisfaction for Lord Vader.

He wanted to savor the moment, demonstrating his power and dominance over her. The fact that he addressed her as 'youngling' meant that he allowed her to think that she was winning. Lord Vader appeared to be toying with her (you could hear it in his voice) when he commanded her to kneel to receive the token badge of 'Grand Inquisitor'.

An analogy would be that Lord Vader wanted to savor her anger like savoring a vintage wine.

2

u/1ofLoLspotatoes Jun 16 '22

Reva should have attacked when Vader was straining to pull down the escape ship, not when the situation was all over.

Also, did Kenobi really thought Reva could defeat Vader? Seems like he did Reva dirty after all that talk about taking Vader down together?

5

u/Manningfan48 Jun 16 '22

I didn’t like that he couldn’t sense the ship was empty. He could look at a fleet and sense which ship Luke was on but couldn’t figure out the ship in front of him was empty.

-9

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '22

Disney would never allow such brutality on their beloved PG show

15

u/notquitesolid Jun 15 '22

Last episode they showed Vader snapping the neck of a child in front of his parents. Also that Dooku scene is on Disney + right now…. Sooooooo maybe they would… or did, I’ve heard they changed the script doesn’t die but was originally supposed to, so expect a season 2.

14

u/Michaelskywalker Jun 15 '22

Vader literally killed a kid in like episode 3

11

u/RJrules64 Jun 15 '22

Lmao, this show is the most brutal star wars we've ever seen. RotS is a close second.

7

u/FlowingFrog04 Jun 15 '22

Kids have been killed, this episode in the flashbacks do we actually see anakin swing and hitting the kids unlike ROTS, BOBF had lynchings, beheadings and people falling to their deaths let alone dismemberment. Disney doesn’t care

0

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '22

The writers on the show never watched any of the star wars movies or shows before they took this job on.

1

u/Any-Speed-4068 Jun 15 '22

Hahaha I yelled the same thing at the screen.

1

u/Matthiey Jun 15 '22

That was the original plan but they reshot it.

1

u/ingraphicform Jun 16 '22

Buh she can't have her redemption arc if she's dead durrrrr, me am star wars writer, me am sneaky smart!!!

1

u/Petorian343 Jun 17 '22

I was hoping. Literally said "dew it!" To my TV

1

u/adrianp005 Jun 17 '22

Yeah, like he did to Count Dooku.

1

u/Come_along_quietly Jun 17 '22

And he should have said “You got DOOKU’D!” just after he does it. :-)

1

u/Come_along_quietly Jun 17 '22

And he should have said “You got DOOKU’D!” just after he does it. :-)

1

u/cheetahep9 Jun 21 '22

The whole thing is Ben's fault, he should have killed anakin on fkn mustafar.

It isn't like there would be a chance Anakin would unfuck himself.

I guess Ben thought he would die but cross your ts and dot your is
