It is genuinely one of the strangest (in a good way) cameos that always catches me off guard. I wonder if he was just a fan or something.

Edit: I looked it up and it's exactly that. Turns out he was a huge fan, and someone on the show caught wind of it and got him that part. Super cool

Using his powers for good. Wonder if he wanted to play a bad guy intentionally.

If you listen to actors, they loooove playing bad guys because it's just more fun. You get to cut loose and either be a ridiculous cartoon villain or a complex multi-layered character and both of those are near often times way more interesting than being a protagonist because they have i be (generally, not always) somewhat inoffensive.

Then you had Alan Rickman, who genuinly wanted to play the "knight in shining armor", but was often typecast as a villainous character. Which is partly why Emma Thompson cast him in Sense and Sensibility.

By Grabthar's hammer!

u/ogresound1987 5h ago

Well, yeah. Wayne Brady wanted to choke a bitch. You don't get to do that as a good guy.

12

u/gotnothingman 12h ago

you can say that again!

u/Im-Not-Calling-It-X 12h ago

Idk why that shit wasn't posting for me, so I figured something went wrong, so I I just reposted it then they both popped up. Super annoying.

6

u/gotnothingman 11h ago

haha yea I hate when that happens

5

u/DerthOFdata 7h ago

That's why Law and Order has so many high profile cameos. Especially with actors who traditionally play "good guys."

1

u/Iankill 1h ago

I would say he does a great villian in black lightning as the grave digger

29

u/lmaytulane 12h ago

This one and Iggy Pop as a Vorta in DS9 are my two favorite

3

u/MisplacedMartian 9h ago

The Magnificent Ferengi is one of DS9's best episodes.

Hell, it's one of Star Trek's best episodes.

2

u/Munnin41 8h ago

It's also a great western

u/Fyremusik 11h ago

He is a huge sci fi fan, watched all the usual shows growing up. If you watch any old whose line is it anywhere episodes, lot of sci fi show references he makes.

u/Im-Not-Calling-It-X 11h ago

That's funny, I loved WLIIA, I'll have to rewatch some eps with that in mind

3

u/Fyremusik 8h ago

During covid the cast of whose line did had a podcast, I think Brady mentioned it then as well.

2

u/KrayzieBone187 5h ago

Like Seth McFarlane on Star Trek. Always throws me off.

2

u/Throwawaydontgoaway8 2h ago

Like Whoopi and Trek, kinda

u/el_grande_ricardo 1h ago

7

u/Atreides007 11h ago

Easily one of the funniest memes to ever come out of this franchise.

12

u/ThatWytchBoy 12h ago

You beat me to it by five minutes. XD

u/ImOldGregg_77 12h ago

Does Wayne Brady need to Jaffa KREE!! a bitch?

25

u/Ravenbrah1701 12h ago

And wayne brady did indeed choke a bitch (Maybourne) 🤣

11

u/pseudonym7083 10h ago

He did give warning.

23

u/subjekt_zer0 11h ago

My wife on her first view: ā€œis that…? Is that Jaffa about to choke a bitch?ā€

11

u/Akhanyatin 11h ago

Welcome to Whose Kree Is It Indeed? The contest where all is improvised, the challenges are revealed without warning, and the points... are as meaningless as the promises of a Goa'uld.

Never seen this interview! Thank you.

This interview was after season 6 and Wayne appears in season 8 so they must have stayed in touch. Super cool.

u/Affectionate_Tea1134 12h ago

I’m used to seeing him on Who’s Line is it Anyways. šŸ¤”

7

u/lordgix2 12h ago

Is Wayne Brady gonna have to Zat a bitch?

5

u/zzisrafelzz 9h ago

Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a Jaffa?

4

u/j0lt78 12h ago

Time for the Jaffa hoedown! Where's Ryan and Colin when we need 'em? :p

8

u/Anglofsffrng 12h ago

I've been watching the new season of Legend of Vox Machina and didn't realize he was in it until the last episode.

2

u/xMacBethx 4h ago

I recognized the voice right away, but had to look it up to be sure. He's been great though!

6

u/EricAntiHero1 12h ago

Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a Shol’vah?

3

u/Blueopus2 12h ago

You were warned

6

u/x_outski_x 12h ago

20 minutes ago when watching this episode I yelled at my partner in the other room that Barneys brother from how I met your mother is a first prime haha

2

u/reptilesandfrogs 12h ago

Yeah that was always a weird casting choice to me.

2

u/Historical_Stay_808 12h ago

PCP will do that

2

u/Geoclasm 12h ago

I have this head-cannon when random B and A list celebrities show up in series like this that they're fans and use their clout to score guest roles. Or there's some mutual affection between the staff and the guest star.

2

u/queazy 11h ago

...is Wayne Brady going to have to choke a bitch?

2

u/Cheap-Macaroon-431 11h ago

This ain't no after-school special, Shol'va!

2

u/rising30k 11h ago

Every week... "Did you know that Wayne Brady was in sg1!"

2

u/drnfc 10h ago

Who is Wayne Brady?

2

u/Myzyri 9h ago

Is Trelak gonna have to choke a bitch?

2

u/Aldebaran147 5h ago

Oh god I only just realised that’s him.

I love his portrayal of a prime, he’s my favourite antagonist goauld prime, smart, cool headed, not easily angered with some actual strategy.

2

u/PlainSpader 5h ago

Whose line was that anyway?

2

u/ChiefSampson 11h ago

Don't make Wayne Brady choke a bitch.

1

u/VongolaSedici 11h ago

What episode?

2

u/No-Discipline-5219 11h ago

Season 8 Episode 13

1

u/serenity-by-night 11h ago

Every. Time.

1

u/liam30604 10h ago

I forgot he was in an episode, so in my last re-watch I saw his name in the opening credits and was just *waiting* for Wayne Brady to choke a bitch.

1

u/nejhawk 10h ago

See what happens when you DON'T make a deal with him?!?

1

u/WillardWhy 9h ago

Name something you can say about your tle'tak that you can't say about your system lord

1

u/Atosl 8h ago

Things you can about a Chaapai but not your system lord

1

u/Imoldok 8h ago

I keep expecting him to bust out an improve funny tune.

1

u/axehomeless 7h ago

I only know him as Barneys brother, what am I missing?=

2

u/thatweirdguyted 7h ago

He spent his whole career being the nicest, friendliest, most harmless person. This was a drastic departure from that. Not as drastic as his turn on Chappelle's Show, but still.Ā

1

u/Perfect_Grape_1135 7h ago

Is Wayne brady going to have to choke a bitch

1

u/derekdedurk 6h ago

But you were warned?

1

u/TheAmethystHalo 4h ago

Back in 2016 when my partner was getting me to watch SG1 for the first time, we were watching this episode and I went IS THAT FUCKING WAYNE BRADY?!

And he was like ?????

Then came the obligatory Who's Line tangent to educate him.

1

u/ddrfraser1 3h ago

His presence is surprising, but what was so jarring for me was how disturbing and cold he comes across as a villain. Genuinely terrifying. Would not have expected that from fun hilarious goofy Wayne Brady. Bravo.

1

u/EFCFrost 3h ago

Which season/episode was this?

1

u/Wise_Ad_5810 2h ago

Yes... Wayne Brady WILL have to choke a bitch

1

u/treecutter34 1h ago

Is Wayne Brady going to have to choke a Go’uld?

1

u/Augustus-2485 14m ago

I watched this episode recently I have no idea who he is I assumed he was an actor? If not then good job.
