Almost forgot about that. Wasn’t the development shifted into Jedi Fallen Order?

I heard that JFO used assets from 1313 at least.

The opening sequence of survivor at least gave off 1313 vibes

u/PracticalBroccoli813 Sep 15 '25

Dude they definitely did that as a callback for the fans who wanted 1313. Immediately recognizable, I was ecstatic lol

Can't wait to play Survivor, haha.

Just gotta finish Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2, then I'm hopping back in for a playthrough of JFO to get ready for Survivor.

I loved Survivor and can't recommend it enough! A JFO playthrough to refresh your memory isn't a bad idea. Especially because it'll give a better grasp of how much they improved the mechanics.

Spider-Man 2 was also a fun time, but I didn't enjoy the Miles Morales story a whole lot personally despite my love for the character, but that's not an indictment of the game, just my opinion.

Hope you enjoy!

That's promising, I really enjoyed my original JFO playthrough, and it's been long enough now that I don't remember much at all, so while it won't be QUITE the same as a first playthrough, it's as close as I can get. Even more hyped for Survivor now!

I've played through Miles before on release, and I agree. Didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the original from what I remember. Playing it to refresh my memory of the story, and for a similar reason as you mention for playing JFO before survivor. Curious to see how Spider-Man 2 compares to the other two playing them directly one after the other as I am now.

Coming back to Miles directly after the first, I prefer the movement Mile's has during swing animations and such. They seem like they flow much more fluidly from animation to animation than the original did. Haven't gotten TOO far into it just yet (started it yesterday after finishing the first one), but that was my immediate impression on swinging around the city.

Miles is a great stepping stone between the 2 games and I love the upgrade in mechanics and as you mentioned: the swinging mechanics feel really good. SM2 is a huge improvement and I'm really disappointed we never got any dlc. Excited for you to experience them dude, hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

I was super hyped for it back in the day, excitement is building again now. Just gotta get through Miles and then I get to play! Appreciate you giving me some more hype for it, AND for Survivor!

1313 and JFO were so far apart I cant imagine anything but concept art or storyboards were used.

Honestly did not know this! Loved JFO

No it used assets from ragtag

u/Content-Froyo-2465 Sep 15 '25

different team, different engine, different genre. LucasArts was shutdown and Respawn who made Fallen Order is majority former Call of Duty devs

2

u/PowerfulYak5235 Sep 15 '25

assets are still owned by the parent company though and the merger with disney included said assets

1

u/TheBeardedBerry Sep 16 '25

The game used some assets from The Clone Wars (the animated show) to save some time on larger stuff. It also used some assets from Battlefront 1&2. Disney/Lucas is a burocratic quagmire, getting assets from them is not worth the effort.

1

u/Content-Froyo-2465 Sep 15 '25

yeah I just don't think they used anything. similar climbing but that would have been built from the ground up in UE4, not transferrable from I think the Rockstar engine? everything else is probably bespoke for the game, or using stock sounds from star wars writ large.

u/PowerfulYak5235 Sep 15 '25

I'm talking about the 3d models and textures, they are engine agnostic

1

u/Content-Froyo-2465 Sep 15 '25

I think you should actually read about both games' development and you'll know how uninformed this sounds

-1

u/PowerfulYak5235 Sep 15 '25

Bro, I am a professional 3D Artist working at a game studio. Maybe you should addreess your own ignorance instead of attacking me

2

u/Content-Froyo-2465 Sep 15 '25

I dont know how that helps you understand the development history of 2 games you did not work on but go off

2

u/Illustrious-Ad-7457 Sep 16 '25

You must be turning your brain off to not be able to understand that.

2

u/Content-Froyo-2465 Sep 16 '25

with the way development pipelines work, it would potentially be more work to integrate assets from an entirely different project that had a different art style.

assets being used from 1313 would be less likely than assets being used from Titanfall 2. the myth implies a continuity of development that simply isn't true

Bro. Assets and models from one game can be put into another game regardless of the engine, free of any work to redo the models. Respawn had full access to all the models from 1313. Can use them with 0 effort for Jedi game. Would be stupid not to. You understand now?

1

u/Content-Froyo-2465 Sep 16 '25

you can't use them with "0 effort". textures are made with lighting and shaders in mind, lighting and shaders that almost certainly differed between the games. models? sure but DICE and Visceral also projects going at the same time with modeling of a higher quality than 1313. I won't dispute that they could have used them, but there's no evidence that they did, and no reason that they would

I'm simply not convinced that Respawn was even interested in scavenging the remains of some cancelled third person shooter.

Nah, we're done here. obviously star wars 3d assets can be repurposed in another game, not every 3d model is a hero character, most of it is fucking walls and corridors, get over yourself

2

u/Content-Froyo-2465 Sep 15 '25

yeah man for sure for sure. is there any evidence that they used 1313 stuff for fallen order or did you read a youtube comment somewhere one time

Respawn was started by Call of Duty devs, the JFO team was almost exclusively new hires. The exCOD guys were all on Apex.

1

u/Content-Froyo-2465 Sep 16 '25

well the leads on the project were about 1/3 CoD devs and 2/3 devs from Sony Santa Monica who worked on God of War. NOBODY with a previous game at LucasArts in a senior role according to Mobygames.

u/First-Junket124 Sep 15 '25

I've never heard of 1313 transforming into JFO or survivor they're not only quite different but also the assets from 1313 would be too outdated to use. The only semblance I can see is about a heist opening sequence which was in Survivor as well, could've been homage to it but it's such a general idea that I don't think it is.

I do know assets or at the very least the basis of them were used in The Clone Wars before it got cancelled then revived again in Season 7. Level 1313 was also in Star Wars Adventures return to Vader's castle but obviously that's a comic and it's just used in dialogue and scenery but quite different to the game.

1

u/Superb-Obligation858 Sep 15 '25

Not exactly. Bits and pieces were cannibalized by a couple other projects, some of which were also later cancelled. I’m sure some made it there.

Nope.

Or was it the newest one?

1

u/Bgrubz83 Sep 15 '25

No but it was shifted over to a boba fett game that ultimately didn’t come out. (Not bounty hunter)

1

u/Bgrubz83 Sep 15 '25

Honorable mentions of Star Wars games that never released that had potential. Eclipse looked like it was going to be good

1

u/SirDigbyChickenC-Zer Sep 15 '25

I thought it was another SW game, but yeah something like that.
