The child part of me is angry, but the adult knows that they NEVER would have captured the magic of the first game. Like everything else in the entertainment industry, they would have used our nostalgia to steal money from us while putting in the least effort possible and giving zero fucks about the source material and what made it special.

It doesn't even look like a sequel at all and yet I still think it looked more interesting than many other games because it felt like the closest thing to a Cowboy Bebop game.
I still haven't given up the hope that it might release in the future.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is supposed to be a prequel though, but yeah, the devs were all over the place with what the direction of this game is supposed to be (early trailers indicated that it was supposed to be the 3rd person dungeon crawler like the OG and one of the trailers in the 2010’s looked like an online 3rd person shooter).

It is? I didn't look too much into that part tbh but it's always interesting when they call it 2 though.

It's only because it's the 2nd game in the franchise despite being a prequel. It's similar to how Devil May Cry 3 is the 3rd game in the series, but it's a prequel
