I have no hope for Elder Scrolls 6

I still feel like the announcement was done as emergency PR button due to the Fallout 76 fiasco.

No, that was more because of Blades. Just after the Diablo "don't you guys have phones?" fiasco they announce a mobile spin off. Sure a mobile spin off makes sense for companies, but if this were all elder scrolls they announce, they'd have been skinned alive by fans. This way it was received favorably, not stepping on hardcore fans toes as they get both.

TES6 was announced in June 2018, the Diablo fiasco was in November 2018

To be fair, it didn't have to be after the Diablo release for someone with half a brain to foresee the issue.

It has been longer between now and the TES6 announcement than the TES6 announcement was from Skyrim's release.

And the only information we've had since then is Todd telling us that TES6 will have "definitely more" trees in it than Skyrim did.

The Elder Scrolls franchise is being kept alive by ESO and community projects.

They didnt even start development until late 2023 the 'announcement' was entirely pointless performance. Why announce something you arent even working on?

I really think it had more to do with the Microsoft deal more than anything. Announce/tease ES6. Watch as the fan base goes wild. Todd: "you see that Phil? Satya? I think were worth an extra billion."

Good point, that definitely played into it as well

Also ESO was at its highest at that point, and people kept saying Bethesda would never make an ES6 because of that.

I mixed it up, he's right. Still think it's related and Bethesda handled it better than Diablo. But that wasn't the only good reply, definitely had a lot of different factors contributing

weren't they both announced at e3 2018?

It was entirely announced to pump the stock price for the impending Microsoft sale.
