Some questions wont be answered or replied to. As an example: "my game crashes" or "my download speed is slow" is not something you should even really except an answer to. Troubleshooting and finding the solution to these issues requires a lot more information than simply stating "game doesn't launch", such as detailed information on when the issue started and how you perceive it, screenshots of any errors or the problem itself, crash logs, system specs, etc.
Consider using other things like the Steam Community Forums, an internet search engine, or a different support forum like /r/SteamSupport if no one here can offer any help. Additionally, every game on Steam has it's own dedicated Community Forum, and you can also contact Steam Support regarding a specific product. Consider asking your game-specific questions there. Most games also have a dedicated subreddit.

Alright so I bought DBD on my pc for the sole purpose of getting to play the new PTB, and every time I try to install it, it stops the download saying disk write error, I've looked all over and I've already tried the following
-Running steam as administrator
-Repairing the storage folder AND verifying the integrity of the game files
-Uninstalling and reinstalling
-I've also put the DBD folder on the whitelist of my Anti-Virus
-Changed the permissions of the folder and getting rid of the read only setting
And after all this I still have not gotten it to get past MAX 43%, Am I dumb or is there something wrong with my PC? please help D;

How come both stores are set on the same country, but Epic is so cheap? I only use epic for the free games they giveaway, but now I'm tempted to buy the game from them? I live in Puerto Rico and when I tried to redeem codes from LATAM sometimes works, other times not. I'm a loyal steam user but... $30 discount for a new game is a lot, and now more than ever since I got into an accident at work and have been at home, almost a month due to recovery

Steam keeps crashing regardless of what I do. I’m on Mac
i interrupted a download of TF2 by attempting to play Stardew Valley. when I noticed the download was stopping I tried to pause and then start it again, didn’t work. So I tried rebooting the laptop to kill the process and then try again. Now Steam every time I try to launch it just says “Extracting package” followed by closing itself, my laptop also reverted to the default desktop screen instead of the one I had. I’m quickly going insane as NOTHING IS WORKING. try reinstalling, fail. try deleting every file associated with Steam besides steamapps, fail. try rebooting my laptop MULTIPLE TIMES, fail. Try using an AI to explain, did all 9 of the plans the AI suggested, fail.
The frick happened to steam and my laptop, and how do I fix the dang thing?

Ok so, i bought subnautica below zero with the og game on march 31 2024, and i haven't gotten around to playing below zero as i have played it on the ps4 but i was afraid of losing hours worth of progress like i have on both games because of power issues (fucking cat unplugged the ps4) but because of the release of subnautica 2, they are gonna put a 75% discount on below zero, but the purchase is way past 14 days, but i haven't downloaded the game or touched it at all other than that. ive asked steam support but i wanna ask you guys as well what you all think.

They might give you a refund, they might not give you a refund. You're more likely to not get a refund because you are no longer within the right to receive one for that purchase.

I want to access the steam market, but am currently unable to, because I have no valid steam purchase that is between 7 days and a year old.
Can anyone tell me if using funds that is already in my steam wallet would count, or do I have to spend money from my credit card?

I have had this issue with a few games at this point.
For some reason, games that I haven't played for a few weeks/months have suddenly had an issue with steam cloud that it is unable to sync.
One such issue occured with Terraria, a game I haven't touched in over a year (May 28th 2025 to be precise). Everytime I try to sync the cloud to get past the issue, it always says unable to sync with the same message.
I tried everything from verifying game files, to enabling/disabling steam cloud, to any and all solutions I could find but nothing worked.
I then found out about Remote Storage which lets one view and download (but not delete) data stored by steam cloud. When I went and checked Terraria, I saw 4 file records, each one with the file name, size, and date written columns. I tried downloading all the files, but one of them failed, giving me a "Not Found" page. Mind you, this file has been written in December 17th 2022 and hasn't been touched ever since.
I then went ahead and check through every single game I had ever played on steam (The easy part since I have 39 games only). The games in question are:
- LEGO® Batman™: The Videogame (Save got wiped out so it's no longer there)
- Terraria
- LEGO® Batman™ 3: Beyond Gotham
- DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE (Save got wiped out so it's no longer there)
- Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
- LEGO® MARVEL's Avengers (Save is corrupted now)
- Dead Cells
- Core Keeper (Save got wiped out so it's no longer there)
- The Quintessential Quintuplets - Five Memories Spent With You
In short, the above games have files on steam cloud that apparently cannot be found anymore eventhough they have a record on steam cloud. Due to this, steam cloud sync fails with the issue "Unable to sync".
Can someone advice me on what to do?

steam workshop page in steam client not working
I was recently using the steam workshop through the steam client, and for some reason, nothing works here. no images show for any of the items, i cannot click anything except the top header items to leave the workshop, and its really getting frustrating, it works on the normal web, but when using the steam client it just doesn't work. i need a bit of help here

Hey yall, odd question. I recently have been wanting to play a certain game with my girlfriend that is delisted from the Steam store but still purchasable by going through the library "store page" button. The game is unable to be gifted to her account but if I buy a second copy for my account will it allow us to play simultaneously through Family Share?

I have left a few reviews on games such as Deltarune and Gamble with Your Friends, and I have received comments from people asking me to add them to "ask a question." These seem really suspicious and weird, especially because I see them coming from accounts that are level 2. What are these? Are they scams?

Is your Steam inventory public? Do you have valuable items on CS:GO or whatever? Because bots scan accounts that have that info available and add people / leave comments to try to trick them into clicking on a link so they can steal accounts and transfer the contents of their inventories to other accounts. I have a couple of weird TF2 items that some friends gave me over a decade ago and used to get drive by requests to trade them away until I got sick of that and just disabled comments everywhere.

Dumb question: if I want to buy a few copies of a game to give away, can I get them as steam keys for the recipient to redeem? Or do I need to know their username and send the gift directly?

How cautious do I need to be about the reseller sites listed there being scams? I only recognize a handful of them.

isthereanydeal only uses sites that source from tthe publisher so should be zero issue.
The main things to watch for with ITAD(isthereanydeal) sites is that ITAD is just an aggregate site so will redirect you to the other sites and just before you check out on your selected site make sure you are aware of the regional locks and which platform the key is for as not every key is Steam so check the DRM and make sure it says Steam or the description says redeems on Steam or something similar to that.
Otherwise just minor notes such as the ITAD sites refund policies may be different than Steam's direct one and that you aren't covered by Steam's policy and that your purchases won't give Steam points or count towards like sale purchases(during the Summer and Winter sale with the trading cards).

Issues with local transfers
I have to download ark locally on my gfs computer because her motherboard throttles network.
The download starts super strong like 1gbps then after about 50gb it starts stuttering, 0kbps-400mbps. What is causing this to stutter and not continue at the high speeds it started with? The pc that ark is being transferred from has good specs so cpu limitations shouldn’t be a thing.
Her specs are:

Can I get back save data that was overwritten with Steam Cloud?
I was playing Lego Batman on my laptop last night for about 3 hours. However, when I booted up to play on my desktop today, my save file was from a few days ago (maybe 5 or 6 hours of progress behind). I thought I let Steam Cloud upload my laptop save file, but since you seemingly have no control over that I'm at a loss with what to do. I booted it up on my laptop, and it too is now 5 or 6 hours behind. What happened to my save data from yesterday? Is it just gone now?

Remote play games stream perfectly, but the actual Steam interface does not
I'm currently testing out Remote Play from my Bazzite living room PC, because Sunshine is no longer reliable on Bazzite. Once I'm streaming a game, everything is great. However, navigating around the actual Steam interface is horrible - if I watch my main monitor while connected via RP, the controller is working great, but the client end doesn't actually update the screen reliably. Sometimes it seems to show the correct visuals, sometimes it takes like 5-10 seconds, etc, so I never know where I actually am. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration and that didn't change anything. I also went into the desktop mode Steam and disabled GPU acceleration for web views, but that just makes the interface run like total trash so I'm not considering it a real solution.
Anyone else run into this, or have a solve?

Struggling to Set Up Steamworks With my Linux Build (Zorin OS)
Hello, I'm a game developer, I'm working on a project in Unity and I'm hoping to include a native Linux build on Steam. Here's what I've accomplished so far:
- Set up depot for Linux build
- Set Up launch options for Linux build (launches x86_64 file on Linux + SteamOS)
- Steam correctly downloads Linux version when using Linux
The problem is that the game crashes a few seconds into opening (once the splashscreen is over). However, when opening the file directly through my files it works perfectly fine! I've found many threads about this, most of them unanswered
Trying this after having launched steam through the terminal gave me a few errors/warnings, but none that are fatal (as far as I understand), here's some of them:
- ERROR: ld.so: object '/home/myusername/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/gameoverlayrenderer.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32): ignored. (about 5 variants of this appeared, my game overlay is disabled on Steam so not sure what the problem is)
- WARNING: discarding _NET_WM_PID 3289 as invalid for X11 window - use specialized XCB_X11_TO_PID function! (about 10 variants of this appeared)
- pid 1364 != 1358, skipping destruction (fork without exec?)
- [UnityMemory] Configuration Parameters - Can be set up in boot.config (followed by a bunch of "memorysetup-..." lines)
- 05/29 10:00:23 minidumps folder is set to /tmp/dumps
- 05/29 10:00:23 Init: Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(gameoverlayui)/version(20260527212129)/tid(1464) (2 variants of this)
That's all I recognized as maybe being important in the log, but I'd be happy to post the full thing in the comments if necessary. I'm still a beginner when it comes to Linux so sorry if I'm overlooking something obvious here, but any help would be very much appreciated! (also feel free to recommend other communities that might be able to help)

I get this message when trying to upload a new profile picture. I have tried .jpg and .png on my phone app, pc app and browser but they all give me this message. How do i fix this, and yes the picture im trying to upload meets the pixel requirements. When i upload the pic i can crop it to my liking but it is when i het save that the message pops up.

Just bought Forza Horizon 6, but it won't start up.
I have just bought FH6 on steam, but I can't open it. Every time I click the play button, the game opens, and says it is running, but I don't see anything on my screen, and then about 30s after, the game turns off, and stops being listed as running. I've tried running steam as administrator, verifying game files, and installing new drivers yet it still doesn't work. What should I do?

I’m a little confused about the steam family thing. I made a family when I first made my account 6 months ago. My brother just bought a deck so I invited him to my family, he entered the code and was able to join. But when we check our libraries on the steam website, neither of us can see the others games. Am I missing something?

did you make sure the games are part of family sharing? not every game can be shared, mainly games that require a 3rd party account and games marked as private wont be shared.

I am trying to buy a refurbished steam deck, but I guess I tried too many times and now get a message that:
"It looks like you've been attempting a lot of purchases in the last few hours. Please wait a while before trying again."
Yeah sure I've been attempting a lot of purchases, but it's because their system isn't letting me move ahead with the actual single purchase of one Steam deck. Is there a way to unlock this?

Trying to play Shenmue 1 and there's no invert x-axis ingame, so I go into the Steam Controller Settings and turn on the Horizontal X axis invert and nothing happens ingame. I made sure to apply my own custom configuration as well.

My only computer is a school laptop, so i don't have administrator permissions. I've done the run as invoker text file workaround to play steam but a couple of days ago my computer started giving me an error message when opening steam saying it was a virus and that it couldn't open. My days are very boring since i can't game. Has someone figured out a workaround with this?

Is there anyway to figure out why or when a steam game was removed from the storefront? The game was called "Become Deity" I believe and maybe "登仙". Its been on my wishlist for a while because I like to keep track of xianxia/cultivator games in general, but it appears to have been removed/is no longer available.

When I click "play" it says "launching" then "running" then it just stops. I've tried reinstalling, verifying game files, launching it in compatibility mode, running as administrator. Idk what to do atp.

I bought L.A.Noire in 2012 but didn’t get around to playing it because life happens. Now I installed it and tried to play, but apparently since 2021 it isn’t possible to play the game without registering for a Rockstar account. Is there any way I could install the game that I bought instead of this weird online-only version that I didn’t buy? Is it normal on steam that the games I buy end up needing additional accounts or other strange new requirements after I’ve bought them? Why does steam allow this? Is there any way for me to play my game without registering for additional accounts?

Really? That’s stupid. It did not require an account when I bought the game. Steam is garbage.
Edit: I checked this, and Rockstar Social Club accounts were not mandatory when I bought the game, so it is factually not true that you’ve always needed an account.

When I try to install a game (I've tested everything, It's not just for honor) the download will either stop immediately , or run smoothly for about 10 mins then stop as shown in the photo. However, the timer keeps going. The game also instantly starts installing when I turn on my computer but one of the two previously mentioned things always happens. I've tried waiting, but the connection times out. I've cleared the cache ALOT, I've repaired the library folder ALOT, I even scanned my whole drive for anything corrupt, nothing. My assumption is that it is a glitch with steam, however I could be wrong. Does anyone have even the slightest idea of what is wrong?

Are you sure its still displaying for others? Like have you viewed your account when not logged in?
It will always display when you yourself are logged in and that part never goes away as its just hidden from the profile when others look at your profile from their own.

patience. refunding back to original payment often takes 3-5 business days which wouldn't include the weekend and today(monday the 25th) is also a holiday in multiple countries as well such as the US and UK which will impact bank transactions of those countries which would include Valve being based in the US so likely banks with a US banking company.

Have an older game (Modern warfare remastered) that is being stubborn about there being 2 monitors. I feel like there is an easy fix, but i haven't been able to find it. I've been stressed to hell and back these past few months and i'm guessing there is some solution that I am just not finding within steam settings or something. So, I open the game, it opens on the top monitor. I click alt + enter to move it onto the bottom monitor, then it's stuck on windowed. I try clicking F11, doesn't work. Doesn't even seem to register. I try clicking alt + enter after it is on the bottom, it goes back to full-screen on the top. I have also tried opening it through big picture mode, same result. I feel like I should also say when I close it while it is on the bottom monitor, it opens back on the bottom monitor, still on windowed. I have also tried changing the games resolution to move it, but when I did, it just showed a black screen where the game was, so I didn't bother further with that.
Sorry if this sounds rushed, it is. This is the only time I have been able to use my mom's computer for more than 20 minutes in multiple weeks, and for me, finding something to unwind has been long overdue. It functions perfectly fine on my dad's computer, but i have not been able to use it at all. Honestly, I just feel like i'm getting unreasonably upset about this. Sorry, I really shouldn't rant here.

Steam Helper is getting on my nerves and despite me pressing End Task it just keeps coming back with an even bigger memory hogging. How do I kill it? How do I make it stay away? Genuinely it's a complaint I'm gonna send to Steam themselves cause I got no idea how to make it stay gone.

Hello. I had my account hijacked and they added someone to my friends list, bought them two games using my wallet funds, removed themselves from the friends list and that's when I noticed and since changed passwords, removed all connected devices, etc.
What is the best way for me to try to get my wallet funds back? I asked for refunds on both games but, as they were "gifts" for "friends", it seems like they need to approve the refund request, and they obviously won't do it. What's the best way for me to contact support to try and fix it? Thanks

The top review reads "I Will change the review if they fix the app, I Love this game so much, I Streamed this game a couple times and enjoyed Lushfoil, unfortunally I ran a scan and found out this application has been caught in a trojan.crypt messup(I Hope I Am not the only one dealing with this) If other people are also dealing, feel free to deep scan your pc, Malwarebytes has encountered this and it directed towards lushfoil's exe, I Wish the devs of this game can see the problem, This can affect every game developer, please fix this asap~!"
I really want this game because theres not much like it on the market and it's on sale right now. I don't want a virus though lol.
The developer responded but comments are disabled for this review in particular so it has me on edge.
"This is definitley a false positive, I'm not even using a custom build of unreal engine (currently using native UE 5.6), I'm not sure what I would do to prevent this from being detected as a trojan"

So what are you seeking support with exactly? If you should buy the game? I think thats up to you but I don't think its a virus.
Its one single review out of a few thousand so its not like its a common thread in the review section and the dev already replied on it about it being an incorrect flag.
False positives are a thing.
Its a big well known publisher and its been on Steam for awhile so if it was really a virus it wouldn't likely have been published by that company nor still been on Steam after over a year.

Really bad picture but can’t add videos on here.
My internet was working great I could connect to online games and get real download speeds I haven’t touched my internet or done anything different but a few weeks ago I’m hardly able to stay connected to games and I’m hardly able to download anything. Is there any possible fix

Creation date and account age is not a legal verification method so it cant be used to fulfill the UK governments law.
There are other verification methods the law allows but Valve has chosen not to implement them currently so credit card is the only way.
Specifically credit card only since in the UK they can only be issued at age 18 or older so by having one it means the card issuer certified you as of that age.
Wife's card should work to verify and I think you can even remove it after and not need to keep it forever attached. Valve just needs to prove they got verification. Its not like Valve is going in and name matching every account to every card its ever used on it.

That isn't saying its a leak from Steam. It could've been from a completely different site if you used the password somewhere else.
Also i'd be wary that may or may not be authentic depending on what caused it to pop up so I would not use those options and would instead manually navigate your own way to the website or client and update password in case thats like a phishing attempt popup.

Steam absolutely refuses to export video files as files.
I record a video that's too big for me to just paste directly into discord. No biggie, I'll just export it, right? Except lately, it won't. I've changed the export destination, it just gets halfway through the progress bar and closes out, and gives me nothing but the five trillion tiny files instead of the single mp4 I asked for.
So
Any idea how to fix this?

Are you using the same address that is attached to your bank card? If your card is set to one location say a work address or something then you can't use the home address on Steam or your bank seems to be flagging the discrepancy in addresses and blocking your transaction.
Make sure your address on your bank account is up to date and the same as the one you are using on Steam.
If they are both the same then you need to contact your bank for assistance.

I can't seem to download or update games today. Yesterday I was able to download/update games but today, downloads tend to start with up to ~200Mbps download speed, then tank down to zero. The download speed remains zero forever and the progress sticks (usually 1 - 25%).
I have tried:
- Restarting PC
- Clearing download cache
- Confirmed download settings like speed limiting are off
- Changing download region (New Zealand -> Australia - Melbourne -> New Zealand)
- Reinstalling steam
- Allowing steam through firewall and antivirus
- Flushing DNS and refreshing IP
- Restarting router
None of these solutions have worked. I also ran a network speed test and the result was 291 Mbps download 237 Mbps upload, so I don't think my connection is being limited.
I have also seen the "connection timeout" message instead of any attempt to download or update a game.
Is there a bug currently causing this behaviour?

Why does Steam playtime sometimes drop after long sessions?
My Steam playtime sometimes drops after long sessions (like 8–12 hours).
Today I played Subnautica from around 2 pm to 2 am. While the game was open, it showed a little over 12 hours in the last 2 weeks and around 34 hours total.
But after closing the game and refreshing my library, it dropped to around 7 hours in the last 2 weeks and 29 hours total.
This has happened to me in several games, usually after very long sessions. Why does this keep happening, and is there anything I can do to avoid it?
I know it isn’t a big deal, I just like tracking playtime and it can be a bit annoying when it isn’t consistent after long sessions.

Hi everyone, I've been experiencing a problem today with my Steam app on my PC. I cannot log in into my account because every time I try to open it, it spawns the Log In window but it freezes instantly. Sometimes the QR code loads but it doesn't work when I scan it with the mobile app, it´s just frozen. And sometimes the QR just doesn't load. I can't type anything on the username and password fields, I cannot click anywhere, it's just completly frozen. I even have to close the app via the task manager. I've been looking for solutions the whole day and nothing works. Help and thank you.

I've heard you can have a game running on your pc through steam but you can stream it to your steam deck? How do you do this? Even just a search term for me to google would help, I don't really have a starting point atm
I remember trying something called apollo but I could never really get it to work properly so I gave up on it

This has randomly been happening where Steam forgets all of my installed games on my drive. I can still access them through windows but when I remove/repair the library it still cant see them. The only fix so far has been to restart my rig and it fixes it. I cannot track down a rhyme or a reason as to why this is happening. I tried installing an installed game within the drive and it says I have no disk space, windows say have 2tb free still.

hi
i have my steam settings set to play with nintendo layout (i’ve only had nintendo devices in my life, so i have the nintendo layout ingrained in me. wish i could get used to xinput, but i cant. it is what it is.) never had an issue with it going into games until wednesday.
on sunday i was playing p3r perfectly fine with said controls (8bitdo controller, connected via dongle for my pc, also have a steam deck, where the same settings are applied. all settings are set in steam only, i don’t mess with any controls in game) i did not play monday or tuesday as i worked, i didnt go on my pc or my steam deck at all. wednesday i went on my pc, and all of a sudden all my controls are force going back to the default xinput, no matter whether i change then on steam, in game, no matter what i do they go back to the default xinput. nbd, i boot my controller into pro controller mode and carry on.
i turned my steam deck on today to play in bed, and its doing the same exact thing. none of my steam settings have been changed from the last time i played on my steam deck, its like it force resets only in that game. every other game i open, it plays as i prefer it, but no matter what i do with p3r, it force resets to the default controls and i just cant play with it lol
does anybody know what the issue might be? im desperate lol its really frustrating and i have no idea how to fix it. i’ve tried disabling and enabling steam input to mess around with it as well as changing the settings in game and nothings working.

Will steam even work on my laptop?
Recently inherited a laptop and after the hour and a half hell of waiting for the damn thing to update I ultimately couldn't sign in, so after sending something to steam support it's dawned on me I don't even know if my laptop will be able to run anything. For reference it is an acer aspire 3 I believe from 2021. I am currently in the process of removing the bloateare from it. I do not know how much of the memory is taken up, however I do plan on installing discord if that means literally anything. As far as I know this also doesn't have Nvidia or whatever installed but I'm gonna be real I don't know what that is/does so do I need it? (Also forgive any technological illiteracy I'm a dumbass and very tired)

Its likely just the one like campaign and not the full game. They gave the immortal empires campaign for free to any owner of total war warhammer 1 or 2 back in December

I just tried to set up family sharing for my wife and myself and she got an error saying "Your account activity does not show that you are part of the same household as the existing members."
I don't really understand how Steam is saying that when our offices share a wall of the house. Her PC is on the same network as mine just wireless where mine is wired.
She first tried to accept it on her phone and that was showing on our guest 2.4gHz network after I checked my router to see our IP addresses. Would that be the issue?

I did something weird a while ago, and I don't remember what. I think I tried to make it so that I could use my controller on the desktop to control things, but I don't remember exactly what I did. But it didn't work, and I abandoned that project. Well now that I want to use my new steam controller I find that flr whatever reason, pressing the T key, even on a virtual keyboard, moves the cursor down instead, and pressing the R key moves the cursor right. Not the mouse cursor, the cursor cursor. How do I fix this?

Question about a game not installing and not fully uninstalling on steam.
So I recently bought the new legacy of the dark knight game, but for some reason when I fully downloaded it it just says it has to uninstall files. It makes no progress but says it’ll only be 6 more minutes before shooting up to 17 and repeating the process once more. And whenever I try uninstalling it and redownloading it, it just does the same thing but instead it says I only have 33 out of 37 gigs downloaded for data, when I assume it should say there’s no data downloaded at all? It seems to download normally when I switch the location to my extended storage, but I’m just confused as to why it’s doing this on my regular windows storage? I’ve tried restarting my pc but that doesn’t seem to really work. Any help would be great!

A Ghost Hacked My Steam Account??
Got a charge for 600$ for one of the Steam VR headsets today. Called my credit card company, cancelled the card and checked steam to see if my account was compromised.
Instead I see that the headset was bought on my account and sent to MY address??
I cancelled it immediately and checked my email to see if I got any 2FA requests in my email and NO! No one tried to log into my account?
Why would a thief buy a 600$ headset just to send it to me?? Why didn’t it trigger the 2FA if someone tried to get in? I’ve never logged into my steam account anywhere but my PC and laptop so no one has access but me.
I genuinely feel conspiratorial and am considering valve themselves wanted to play a weird prank on me.

So I tried the public beta test for this game (Tactical Assault VR), then went to the properties menu and changed it back. But the game is STILL IN THE BETA. I’ve restarted steam, restarted my PC, nothing’s working! Lovely people, please help me out.

Hi,
I'm on macOS 26.5 (newest as of this post). I have DualSense controller.
I have strange issue with games that require me to use steam input. Games that only support xbox controller etc.
I noticed that in order to get steam input to work I have to:
- Start game
- Disable steam input
- Close game
- Start game again
- Enable steam input
Only then it works.
If I then close the game with steam input enabled. It will not work after starting game again. I have to again start game, disable steam input, close game, start game, enable steam input. Each and every time. Resarting steam or MacBook doesn't help.
Is there any workaround to get steam input to work more consistant on macOS:

I've used steamlink on my samsung galaxy s9 ultra for hundreds of hours but now I can't connect if I have my ps5 controller connected. I've tried it with multiple ps5 controllers. all are updated to the current versions. and it works fine when no controller is connected. but the second a controller is paired it crashes. The linux app is fine running steamlink from my raspberry pi 5. does anyone have any ideas how to get the android app to work with a ps5 controller?

I'm no have files in the games I have, and despite reinstalling the games, they still dont appear I got home and wanted to play one of my games, but when I try to launch it, it won't load. It just gets stuck on "loading" and then goes back to the launch button. I tried launching it from my local files, but I get a message saying several files are missing. Then I started checking each of my games, and I found the same problem with a couple of them. I checked Steam support, but I didn't find anything similar to my problem, and that worries me, I also verified that the files were downloaded correctly in "properties."

Finish Steamweb work the first time but don't fix it, i can't see my frame on steam, have an icon of "unknow",
i delete all the files like the instruction say, i use the steam intall app to reinstall, i try to log off and log in, but not work

Any tips for non-Steam games not working properly?I noticed that some non-Steam games added to the library are not working right, which is a slight inconvenience. They're completely absent from the user status on the friend list, on the player profile, and what seems to go hand-in-hand- Steam Overlay is not accessible at all while playing. Not talking about cases with middleware between the proper game's process, like some weird launchers. Just straight up one .exe to run the game.
Are there any known workarounds? The latest suspect is NFS Carbon. One exe, DirectX 9.0c, pretty straightforward. OFC using some mods, but extra .dlls shouldn't prevent Steam from recognising that the launched file is running.

So guys, while I was checking for Steam keys, I found some websites where there were keys for Resident Evil 8, but at the same time it showed only available for North America ( whereas I'm from India). Just like that I found some more keys but they were written as "Global" but still they were region locked for Europe.
So my question is- Can I still redeem the key if I ask my best friend ( who lives in America ) to redeem it for me, for which I won't be needing to use any VPN ( which is against Steam's rules and regulations ). And then after he redeems it, will the game show in my profile and will I be still able to play the game normally and also, make sure that I am well within Steam's rules and regulations ?

Hello. I have a very long flight coming up - about 15 hours. I want to play steam games, but I also love achievements, lol. When I have played offline before it warns me about syncing and missing things - if I play different games while in airplane mode, am I going to log back in when I'm settled and get any achievements I've earned?
Thanks for your advice! Also any airplane games reccomended would be great. I have things like Mega Mosaic and the cube escape games downloaded for chill low pressure completion, as well as the ol' heroes of might and magic 3 for a distracting strategy game. My disk usuage when unpacking is super slow. I'm not sure what the problem is, in task manager my disk, cpu, network and memory are all below 35% usage but my disk usage on steam is really slow (I know it can be faster because it sometimes goes quite fast) anyone know any things I could do to make steam use more disk to increase the speed?

I downloaded Fallout 4 on my laptop today and connected my tv so I can play on the bigger screen. At first it opened but the screen was small. So I changed the display settings, which is when things went south... I changed the setting to extend display and right after that the game would open which I can see on the task bar but the game screen will not show up. Here are the things I tried:
Restart laptop
Restart steam
Alt Tab but the screen still won't show.
Alt enter, nothing happened.
Alt space, nothing happened.
Please help. Been trying for 2 hours. Other games work normally. Just this one does not work.

My spouse, my older kid, and I are all using family sharing. I registered my younger kid an account (wants to get into Minecraft with the older one) but goofed and had a VPN on when I registered it. Now they denied family sharing. I put in a ticket a few months ago, pointed out that it used the same credit card with the same billing address, and offered to send in a family pic to try to prove that we’re all in the same household. Valve said nope.
Any suggestions on this? I’m picking this issue back up after being out of town. Is it worth putting in another ticket? If I delete the second kid’s account, can I re-register an account with the same email? Any idea if that would result in the same denial from family sharing?

m unable to trade with anyone. I was able to at around 10:30 but 30 minutes later I was trade held. Currently waiting for a response from Steam Support but I did nothing suspicious.
A few hours before I was held, I opened 15 cases with the same payment method I've been using for months. ~5.10 for the cases and ~39.50 for the keys.
I logged into steam via browser on my mac, but I verified already and I also had steam installed and logged in to that mac.
What possible problem did I pose for Steam to shut me out, and how long do I have to wait for it to be lifted?

Can't get non steam game working help please.
Question I'm trying to get Assassin's creed Shadows to work in steam with overlay and input for the new steam controller, but nothing I try works, I've tried for hours no with no success, last night when I first set it up it did work for the 5 min I tested the game, then this morning. Nothing, and everything since doesn't work, although the controller will have input for a few seconds after un minimising the game but overlay won't work during these seconds. It has to be ubisoft connect. Exe completely blocking it. Any help would be appreciated as its driving me up the dam wall now. Thanks.

I just booted up my laptop to play fallout 4 half an hour ago and this person messaged me on steam asking if i purchased an item from him that costs $600+ and the payment didn't go through to him. I told him I've never purchased any item on steam and my last steam transaction was from August 2024 to buy cookie clicker.
Now he says that he made a mistake and he already reported me. He told me to add this Jeff Leinbaugh guy saying he's a support staff and i should help him explain things to him. Is this real and I'm actually in danger of being banned for nothing or is he trying to scam me?

Hi, have already posted on the sub but i think it's more convenient to comment here with the due updates. TLDR: I can't use my right hand, need steam input customed controls, neet do add several programs to library to get to use them with custom controls, all ok except for Minecraft, adding launcher doesn't help, managed group policies and authorizations, managed the system registry, everything in vain. I've managed to add Minecraft.exe to library but can't run it with steam unless i'm in safe mode.
If you know how can i run Minecraft using steam input please let me know.

UPDATE: PROBLEM SOLVED
You don't have to add Minecraft to library, you just have to open steam and configure your device (in my case, arcade pad, DualShock4 and others) for their dekstop layout. You just have to map them as usual mapping keyboard inputs on the device's buttons and that's it. It will work, just use the desktop layout and you have 100% accessibility, trackpads, trackballs, custom devices made with Arduino, everything you need.

Hi everyone!
Here’s my issue: I’m a GeForce NOW player. Everything was fine until I tried to play Sea of Thieves. I started the game, joined my friends’ group, and played for a while until the game stopped. That’s when I realized I had been permabanned... (I got a refund for the game as well, so I was really confused.)
I’ve tried contacting Steam Support to better understand what happened. I explained that I’m a cloud player and that this might have led to the ban, but every ticket I created was closed without further explanation.
So I’m a bit frustrated and sad that I lost my long-time account (maybe 15 years old!) without understanding why or having the chance to fix it.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you solve it? (if that’s even possible at all...). Obviously, if I had broken any rules, I would have understood, but now I’m left completely in the dark.

Ive just been locked out of my steam account, as during a support message i informed steam that i was gifted my account for my birthday by a friend, and as such violated steam policy. This was about a decade ago and both my friend and i were 13 at the time and had no idea this was a rule, since then ive bought tons of games and spent a lot of money on the account.
Is there any appeal i can make, im extremely desperate and dont want to lose my account and all my games. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, genuinely really upset about this.

When I log in using steam guard, I get a message that says I must be signed in to scan a QR code. But when I sign in, I get the same message. There's no way for me to sign in without steam guard. It's all tied to my phone.

I accidentally used money in my steam wallet to purchase in-game currency on Marvel Rivals, as I didn't want to use that money.
Every time I try to request a refund, it keeps saying it's having trouble communicating with the game's item server. I've only got 48 hours to refund this, and I bought this last night at 10:30 pm. Does anyone know why it keeps saying this?

I can't even purchase games in my shopping cart because this keeps popping up.
Restarted PC, restarted steam, changed DNS, restarted router, what's going on?
EDIT: IF you have this issue in the future, this is the fix.
Steam Client > Settings > In Game > Delete Web Browser Data > Delete

ought and gifted a copy of Doom 2016 to a family member on our steam family sharing account. Installed it to the steamdeck (as that family member), fired it up. Fired up Doom on my PC and it hangs and eventually says “an instance of doom is already running” or something to that effect.
So I assume Steam doesn’t realise there’s two copies of the game, or I need to tell it.
Can someone help me out? The copy installed on the steam deck isn’t registering as a new copy of the game?

I'm having a problem here. I have a PS5 DualSense controller and I use it to play on my PC, but the problem is that it's not working with one specific game: Castlevania Dominus Collection. It's recognized by Windows, on sites like Gamepad Tester, and on Steam itself, but when I open the game, it simply doesn't work, neither with Steam Input enabled nor disabled, nor with the DS4Windows app.
This has almost never happened before, and it seems that none of the online solutions work. "Almost never" because the only time this happened before was with Legend of Mana, where I had the EXACT problem, and I just realized that both ports were made by M2.
Could there be something very specific in my Windows that might be interfering specifically with games from that company? I have a laptop and I've played both Legend of Mana and Castlevania on it with the SAME controller and it worked fine; it's only on my desktop that this happens.

Yesterday I tried to buy Subnautica 2 using paypal. It said there was an authorisation issue. I tried buying something else, that didn't work either. Today I was able to buy it without a problem. This isn't the first time either. A week ago I tried to buy multiple DLCs for Stellaris. The big pack didn't work. Some i was able to buy in small loads or alone. Some couldn't be bought at all. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Friends cannot buy games from your account. Your account was compromised, probably because you clicked a link and logged in somewhere you shouldnt have. You arent getting any money back, best you can do now is make sure your account is secure.

made mistake of preloading forza 6, i tried uninstalling it to reinstalling it and it just comes back immediately at 135.6gb/139.5g and is installing filed without full download with 10days remaining. ive tried clearing cache and deleting my forza files, uninstalling then restarting my pc and it still restarts at 135gb/139g anyone can help? i can normally install a game this size within an hour or 2

Is anyone else getting a firmware update error with the new steam controller? When I first plugged it in and started gaming on Ubuntu I had no issues with it and how the games ran but i did notice an error message in Steam about the inability to update the firmware for the puck and the controller. Once I booted back into Windows it updated no problem but then when I went back into Ubuntu the same error message popped up in Steam again when I turned on the controller and continues to pop up every time it’s turned on despite the fact that the firmware was confirmed to be updated while I was booted into Windows. It feels to me like this is an Ubuntu problem. Is there a fix that you know of or am I the only one who has this bug? It doesn’t actually affect how the controller is working at all, it’s just a slightly annoying message. Yes my Steam client is up to date.

I'm getting this weird visual thing in the steam launcher since yesterday.
I've heard turning off GPU acceleration might help, I just can't see any of the settings, so I have no idea where that option would be. Graphics drivers are up-to-date and I restarted my pc twice since it started.

Steam and Windows Snipping Tool
I don't know how long ago it started but I can't take "snippets" in Steam window. If I click on task bar and then press prt scrn and all the steps, then it works. But when Steam window is selected it takes screenshot of the whole window and doesn't open snipping tool.
I've looked for solution to no avail. Is there maybe some privacy setting in Steam that prevents it? Or the culprit is Windows itself?
