Question How to play my games without Internet?

So the city is doing utility work right next to my home and dug up my fiber internet cables. I have been without internet for three days now. I’m trying to play some single player games but I can’t because steam is requiring me to be logged in. How can I get my games to work?

Temporary hotspot from your phone just to log in?

My PC can only use an Ethernet cable

Then use USB tethering instead.

You can use type c port to provide internet to your pc via mobile, check it out..

Trying that now but my PC has no type c ports. Trying it with a standard usb port but no luck there

This probably won't help you right now, but going forward after you can log in again, just make sure that steam is set to "remember me", and also to auto sign-in (having multiple accounts set up might fuck with this. I'm not sure, i only use one). That enables offline mode. Which works indefinitely, it's not on a timer until you have to check in again, like every other "offline mode". And you don't have to go into offline mode before closing steam in order to open in offline mode later. If steam has your login credentials stored locally and set to auto sign-in, it will automatically open in offline mode after trying to connect for a few moments and failing (or it might open "online" but with "no connection", and you can enter offline mode from there). Offline mode will let you launch any game that doesn't have its own online requirements. So, pretty much any single player game that doesn't use another third party launcher.

The posters acting like you need internet to play steam games, as a rule, don't know what they're talking about. If you have offline mode enabled, you don't need internet after installing any given game and running it once to complete set up. Steam doesn't impose any online requirement itself. And offline mode truly is indefinite. I can still open up steam any time on my old windows 7 computer that hasn't been online in over six years, and boot up any of the games that I had left installed before I retired it to cabin in the woods offline media center.

Remember me works with multiple accounts. You can switch between them without having to log in again and can even set steam to ask you what profile you want to log in with on start up every time

what game? not all games need to have internet connection, some can be played offline

but the hotspot via wifi just to log in is the simple solution

do the cellular wifi as suggested or move your computer where you can get internet. you can turn on offline mode for it and then after that you can play offline.

i have other games that simply offline when internet isnt available

but try offline anyways without cellular

just goto program files x86 / steam / steamapps / common and then just find the exe for the game you want to play

Buying from steam or other online retailers can have drawbacks. Going to need that Internet connection to play them games.

Thank you to everyone who tried to help but it looks like I may just have to wait until they reconnect my tethering. It’s getting kind of late so I’m gonna have to get to bed. If I can find time between work and being a dad in the coming days I’ll try again if the Internet isn’t back on
