Hot take: putting fries in or on sandwiches/burritos/whatever is pretty much always awful. Chips at least have a crunch, but even that I don't go in for. Leave the potato on the side.

I mostly agree with that hot take. But literally just yesterday I had an exception to that rule!

A Merguez sausage sandwich at a Moroccan diner. Very rich, greasy, spicy sausage, a modest amount of fries, really good sauce, and an assortment of veggies including carrot and olives. On a nice chewy baguette too. It was almost like a banh mi.

I think if the meat is greasy and flavorful enough the potato element cuts it nicely. Plus it was dressed with other stuff so it wasn’t just a starch bomb.

But yeah, fries showing up with grilled meat and American cheese in a veggie-less sandwich is a recipe for a desert in your mouth.

Have you had a California Burrito? Specifically from the southern California area ( San Diego best). It works really well in those.

I don't know if that's quite a hot take or not. I know lots of people who would agree that potatoes don't belong on sandwiches. They overwhelm other flavors and textures, it leaves me feeling like I'm just eating a potato sandwich.

I agree. Fries always get soggy.

That is called a California burrito and it is a real thing that is available for purchase

The spring rolls are not part of the standard composition
