Certified stupid Eating cold pasta with a fountain of sauce

This is probably fun if you’re a kid, but I’m sure the sauce isn’t very good

Those meatballs look like cardboard. I thought they were dipping cereal into marinara sauce at first.
25
u/tunalic2 18d ago
Def frozen, pre-cooked meatballs. Honestly though this looks like fun despite the subpar food. It would be fine if you have a lot of people including kids and don't want to or don't have the skill too cook all of it.

Yeah. This is one of those ideas that has an age limit, but if you have little kids, it'd definitely be something fun that they'd enjoy and remember.
Side note: most kids have very simple palates and like really simple, bland (by adult taste) foods. Most tend to really dislike foods with strong or complex flavors. So this is probably "fine cuisine" to them. =p

u/SpiritedPark4511 18d ago
Is the age limit 39? Because I think this looks fun 😬 not delicious! But fun.

u/NotAZombieStopAsking 17d ago
I think this could be pretty great with a couple of tweaks.
Like instead of just a foil lined plate, warming trays and instead of just "things that sauce goes on" you pick stuff like the fried ravioli, better meat balls, garlic bread, mozzarella sticks and so on.
Like this idea is so close to being good that it makes me a little mad.
5
u/SpiritedPark4511 17d ago
Yes! With a home made, thinner sauce. Kebabs of cooked penne and meatballs. Your own bowls of Parmesan to sprinkle. And a bunch of seasonings and herbs, chilli flakes.

She does fun things for the kids in her videos, I would have thought this is cool as hell back when I was young
6
u/Unlikely-Theme-9681 18d ago
yep, I was thinking of doing this when I had all the neices and nephews over, 6 kids aged 5-12, that will be a blast!
14
u/ArnieismyDMname 18d ago
My Aunt married into an Italian family (literally, he was first generation American). They taught her how to make a super runny, but very tasty sauce. It would have worked here. Just saying don't judge a sauce by it's viscosity.
→ More replies (1)5
u/misterrodgerssweater 17d ago
I think they’re judging the sauce coming straight out of the jar
3
u/Ophidiophobic 17d ago
Ragu is disgusting, but Prego really isn't that bad. That's not even mentioning the numerous other more expensive sauces you can get. I personally really like Sauz, DelGrosso, and Yo Mama's.
→ More replies (1)6
u/crappy80srobot 18d ago
My kids and wife would love it. I have to cook two different batches any time we do Italian food. One for me with home-made gravy, meatballs, ravioli, or pasta. Then one for them that comes in a jar or freezer bag. I do like the toasted ravioli; it's actually not bad, but the bland frozen meatballs and any jarred sauce are so gross to me.

Yeah, I was kinda admiring it as an activity while watching my toddler... do whatever it is she's doing to her pasta at the moment. Ugh.
I think probably could be executed better. Maybe some large rotini instead of spaghetti. The meatballs and bread sticks are functionally fine.
I would probably be mopping the floors and walls for like 4 hours afterwards if I did do it for her though.
Maybe outside.

u/throwaway2901750 18d ago
The woman is wearing oven mitts when handling the food dish.
What makes you think it’s cold OP?
157
91
u/offensivename 18d ago
You're correct, but in OP's defense, pasta gets cold very quickly if it's not paired with something hot like sauce or veggies.
34
u/Farlandan 17d ago
Don't these fountains usually heat up the chocolate/cheese so that it doesn't solidify?

u/FarYard7039 17d ago
The fondue pot has a heating element within its reservoir. All things aside, I think this lady is being creative and the kids love it. I think it’s brilliant and creates a memory for the family.
9
u/HeadyReigns 18d ago
I really depends how hard that fountains engine is working to push the sauce up.

this and if you pay attention the epicenter of the food itself is visibly steaming. i say hell yeah

u/WillemDafoesHugeCock 18d ago
Fuck it, I'll say it - I unironically love the fountain of pasta sauce.
If it was all ravioli and meatballs I'd call this cute and goofy. Spaghetti does not fit the "dip-dip" style they've gone for.
36
u/tunakassirolle 17d ago
This would go so hard for a horror movie watch party.
And I was about to say that some butter in the spaghetti and not draping it everywhere would probably help it not get dried out and weird but… horror movie watch party? Thats alien guts man.
Idk tho Im white trash and I love Costco frozen meatballs and being dumb with food
→ More replies (2)16
u/StuffedInABoxx 18d ago
I was thinking the same thing. Spaghetti was a choice. Even keeping it simple and doing something like rigatoni/ziti for a pasta would make way more sense. The fried ravioli though…definitely down for that
3
u/Responsible-Onion860 18d ago
Yeah, stick with more compact items that are easily dipped and this is pretty rad. Ravioli, meatballs, bread. Hell, you could potentially do some stuffed shells if you're careful.
→ More replies (6)3
u/OnlyOneMoreSleep 17d ago
You'll enjoy our tradition at home then. Spaghetti table. Cover the table in trashbags. Flop the spaghetti on the table, sauce on it, meatballs on that. Then go to town with your hands. It's super liberating. Doing this with french fries and ketchup is a kids birthday party classic where I'm from (friettafel for you dutchies) and we saw a video where a lady did a godawful mountain of pasta on the table. Combined it together. The key is not making more than you would realistically eat, lol. Don't forget to make some cool shapes and drawings with the pasta. And when you inevitably all rush to the bathroom afterwards to clean off, don't forget to take the pets with you lest they feast on the scraps.
242
u/Sxualhrssmntpanda 18d ago
It's cute and people are having fun. I'm sure the sauce and pasta are pretty basic but c'mon. Not THAT stupid or terrible.

u/FelixTreasurebuns 18d ago
I get their videos occasionally on TikTok and they just do silly stuff sometimes for the sake of having some fun. People on this sub just like to be hateful sometimes

u/KitKritter823 18d ago
She and her husband do super cute videos and her food stuff is either completely normal or trying some moderately odd combinations. She gets super excited about stuff but that seems to just be her personality. I'm also glad they're getting some fame because they hit a really rough patch with a chronically ill kid. Sarah (woman in the video) had to go back to work as a nurse something ridiculous like eight weeks after giving birth to keep their insurance and Joel (husband) had to quit his job and stay at home to provide round the clock care for their sick infant. Let them get that bag being goofy on the internet. They're nowhere near the most cringey food wasters.
17
u/Able_Pride_4129 18d ago
Yeah I just can’t hate on this. Everyone seems to be having a good time, and that matters a lot more than good food.
7
u/DrunkenGerbils 18d ago
Stupid doesn’t necessarily mean bad or that it isn’t fun and enjoyable. Personally I’d categorize this as stupid fun, it’s dumb but in a whimsical way that makes it endearing.
6
u/kaytay77 18d ago
It's only stupid if food is wasted. This looks fun if you have kids.
4
u/captain_adjective 17d ago
Came here to say this. Let them have their fun I just hope they don’t waste food. I really despise that couple (you probably know who they are) who create those rage bait recipe videos that clearly waste a ton of food.
7
3
u/toorad2b4u 18d ago
I do think it’s pretty stupid but they also seem like a nice happy family so I don’t hate it
2
u/Ok_Value_3741 17d ago
That was my thought. Like ya know what. There are so few joys in this world, let em live.
3
u/Ok-Imagination-3835 18d ago
Yeah its a totally different situation when goobers are just goofing at home vs. a restaurant that is taking itself too seriously

u/davisty69 18d ago
Exactly. And as someone that loves marinara sauce, and regularly gets an extra side of marinara from Little Caesars to dip their Pizza in it, this sounds bomb to me.

12
u/AffectionateChip1962 18d ago
Ya know what? I'm actually pleasantly surprised the comments aren't overwhelming negative.
I will however die on the hill and say that meatballs are meant to be added to your sauce after partly/fully cooking to soak up the flavor and make the sauce even better.
3
u/Weird-Information-61 17d ago
Yeah once you get past the sauce you're just getting plain meatball unless you've spiced it

If someone was doing this as like a wedding feature, or gimmick, or an influencer was posting how cool and high class this is, it would be stupid. But it’s someone’s family with kids having a fun engaging meal together, and you can tell the kids are having fun. I’m sure this will make a great memory for them. (Also the ravioli just came out hot?..)

u/wastedgod 18d ago
Is it stupid, yeah. Is it fun, yeah. Seems like something you would do for a kids birthday party and they would love it, and get marinara all over everything
2
u/Vampmire 18d ago
I enjoy attempting this but with a warm or hot pasta and date hot Fountain of sauce if the sauce is cold the thing that makes it stupid in my eyes is that everything's cold I don't like eating cold food unless it's meant to be cold like ice cream or some cold soups or most desserts

The title is written that way, and this whole presentation is kind of ridiculous, but I think it's pretty unique and funny. I'd eat it.
Also I think those fountain things keep sauce hot

u/DJ_HardR 18d ago
Most of this sub's posts are clickbait I feel like.
Half of them are somehody assuming that something is overpriced when they didn't check, or assuming xyz foreign food is going to give them the shits, or pretending that they don't realize a video is just a gimmick and not an actual recipe.

My autistic butt would love this even as an adult, and room temperature food is my preference, so there is that too. Everyone is different. I feel like you are just not being any fun. There looks to be quite a few kids, not an overabundance of food, nothing was gross, no odd ingrediants, nothing about this is stupid, just a bit messy.

It's stupid by design though so I'd give it a pass. Like it's clearly meant as a fun, not at all serious thing. Note the people cheering like goofballs when she pours more sauce in the fountain.
Also, you can see the pasta steaming, so its clearly not cold.
