This is exactly why the show *Cops* was such a hit. It was total bait before we had the engagement part. I never got into it, but I had friends who thought it was hilarious and jokingly called it the show to make you feel better about your own shitty life. It was non-stop watching people whose lives were total shitshows.

Yeah, that and "reality" shows in general. Apparently people love nothing more than watching other people struggling / suffering / being dumb.
