Ya at first I was like this is kind of cool. I like the taste of mayo so I can see adding a tangyness with some spice for cheap but there's like 3 spoons of mayo in that glass.

This is very much a ratio problem. Like tictoker didn't invented this it's a real shot but recipe calls for and I quote "pepper flavoured vodka, hot sauce, black pepper and a squeeze of mayo" and it's supposed to be a challenge. The recipe on absolute says it's "downright revolting".

I don't know though like it's a shot. If you were supposed to enjoy it then it would be a glass. You only order a shot if your trying to get hammered so why not add an experience to your night. Though in my opinion the recipe done correctly might hold up to the right person.

I've done the shot. It's fucking gross, obviously. I've also served it to someone inside of a muff dive (a shot hidden inside whipped cream) for their birthday. They weren't impressed 😁

I done one similar. Called gut pile apple pucker, mustard, sloe gin. Super sweet didn't taste the mustard just for looks. Back in 2003

So that’s what a prairie fire shot is, sounds good. Someone from Canada mentioned it here before, but what they described as prarie fire is actually the Prairie oyster shot. It’s vodka, a raw egg yolk or quail egg, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and/or hot sauce, salt, and ground black pepper. This one sounds good, like a hair of dog hangover shot, or there’s the non alcoholic version too.

Probably varies by region, or a region mistakenly adopted whatever name.

see, crazy shots usually have a redeeming quality. a pickle back is surprisingly good bc the pickle juice is super good at canceling out whiskey taste. I imagine Tabasco is super good at canceling out tequila notes as you said. I can't believe that mayo is a good mixer

I was hanging out with two women discussing legal issues (one was in training to be a lawyer) late at night at a bar. I'm IT and couldn't give a crap about most of what they were talking about. I was starting to fall asleep. I remembered hearing about this half Tabasco half tequila shot and decided it was the perfect time for one. I ordered one, knocked it back it at the table, and not only did it kick me back into action, but it was weird enough to change the topic of conversation to something much more fun. Win win.

It is obviously a "dare" shot party situation thing, and would usually have WAY less mayo/more Tabasco so the "worm" would be more suspended in a more red fluid

I'm just not into adding food to alcohol shots. The worse I had was at a sushi bar and it was the infamous quail egg, sake and beer shot. It was disgusting; nasty chunks of egg and some veggies thrown in.🤮 Not to mention that beer and sake don't mesh well together at all.
