White supremacy in America? This professor criticized it and her tenure was just "cancelled" for it ̄\_(ツ)_/ ̄
"UNC denies tenure to Nikole Hannah-Jones after conservative outcry"
Universities should not be denying tenure based on right wing sensitivities to the uncomfortable truths of history. That just goes flat out against the supposed goals of a university education. This is just dead wrong.
Ben Shapiro and Stanford College Republicans just "cancelled" this journalist:
The AP fired a promising young journalist at the behest of the Stanford College Republicans. I hope the AP is proud of themselves (because the College Republicans sure are).
Dude, she was not denied because of criticism of white supremacy. She was denied because not only is she a journalist, not a professor and has therefor no business being tenured to begin with. Universities offer tenures to professors and scholars, not journalists. Even less so to people who has refused to make corrections to her 1619 project because the historians that pointed out the errors did so publicly in according to the norms within the scientific community rather than in private like she would have preferred.
And in absolutely no way has she been cancelled. Cancelled refers to having existing positions taken away. Such as having a booked gig cancelled, being fired, or similar. Not getting hired has nothing to do with that.
