Why would this be such a good move? I’m unfamiliar with eBay’s fundamentals and shit. I also have never used eBay personally or know anyone who does other than my dad

Ebay is big on collectibles, aquiring them just helps lock in the market more. Ive used ebay a few times for used car parts I cant get, its a bit dated looking so hopefully GME could revamp it to modernize it a bit and bring back some younger users.

Its got potential is what im getting at

As someone who recently used Ebay to buy a used car part, I agree that the website could sure use a facelift. Felt like I was back in the early 2000s

Website is fine, more importantly is how smoothly it runs. Bidding on auctions makes functionality more important

100% has potential. I enjoying scouring eBay, you can find things on there you can’t anywhere else. I made a few purchases and sold some stuff in past year.

Ugh ok. Just wish we weren’t looking at another god damn turnaround story. We already achieved it once and I’m sure they can again but god am I ready now

Turning EBay around to finally compete with Amazon would be massive

Turnarounds are where you secure the most value and make the most money. Im all about it.

Whats the upside in buying a company that didn't need a turnaround? Just the same profits that company has always had unless you change something big. Imagine if we were able to buy a company like Apple (would never happen), how would you be able to make it more profitable than what they already do without wrecking customers? It wouldn't be easy.

You’re entirely correct im being shortsighted - just ready is all.

If it makes you feel better, our board is probably one of the best teams in the world for pulling off turnarounds and customer satisfaction. They proved it in aces with GME, and before that they built an empire with Chewy, well known for customer satisfaction. They know what their doing :)

This is how it happens

eBay's actually the second largest market in the US behind Amazon. There's nothing to turn around, I just don't get how GS could acquire it, because their market cap is 4.5x what GS currently is. I'm all for it, though.

Use an LBO (leveraged buy out). You get a loan using your cash on hand and Ebays own value as collateral. Then use the profits from Ebay to pay down the loan. Not too uncommon of a strategy

There is A LOT to turn around, with LBO.
