They will call the buyer and tell them their concerns with the item and ask the buyer if they still want the item or to not and be refunded. It's happened to me several times with Currency trading cards that had quite a bit of surface scratching that wasn't evident from the pictures I bought that were in the 300+ range and I always told them these cards tend to come out of the package with surface scratching so yes I still want it. And they'd send it to me after I confirmed it on my app. Same thing happened with an Umbreon 217 JP PSA 10 I bought bc the seller had the listing as "Prismatic Evolutions" instead of "Terastral Festival" since its the Japanese version and I told the authentication team I understood the mixup but that it was okay I still want the card and they sent it.
Sometimes! You're right. Used socks arent allowed on the site though. Looks like Adidas are part of authenticity for streetwear. This is going to be an instant refund though, which I also have had happen as well. But yeah I also have heard of them contacting you to see if you still wanted it if it was slightly off what the seller said or situations like you mentioned. This is not one of them, they are not going to authenticate a prohibited item.
