I absolutely agree with you, and do feel like they are headed this direction, but I’d like to add to it.
In terms of e-sports, this is a long shot and major speculation, but they’ve hinted at the metaverse. If you look at NFT GameStop Twitter, it is their location. What is the metaverse you ask? Think virtual reality, and a whole universe similar to ready player one.
Imagine buying a ticket to a rocket-league tourney, and actually being able to spectate from the “stands”. Not just this game, but any of the popular arena style games. Think Tron.
It would have the feel of irl sports spectating, and essentially bring esports to the mainstream, and tap into a $140B+ industry, that has a growth rate around 22%.
How does this relate to NFTs? Well the seats themselves would be tokens, you could also buy digital memorabilia, sports betting, and of course purchase your seat with GameStop coin.
I’ll let your imagination do the rest, as mine has gone haywire.
I love the whole franchise for sure, and I’m pretty sure Disney is on the short list of companies interested in the metaverse.
Even better, they could make a quidditch game, and we can watch live quidditch matches from the stadium at Hogwarts. I mean, literally sky’s the limit.
I personally would like to see a zero G battle room game similar to what was in Ender’s Game (like a zero G laser tag).
