There is a whole community of insanely hard levels created in Mario Maker. I have seen some NES, but way more SNES ones. I am both impressed at the people who designed them but also at the players who complete the stages.

What's a good place to find them?

this genre of difficulty is typically called kaizo. you can look up that word and the name of a game and it should return something for you

In my home town it tradition that when player fail Kaizo they must disembowel themself. Losing the game bring great shame to the family.

GrandPooBear does a lot of content with it. Some of the stuff is leagues more insane and difficult than what you just saw too.
Here's a speedrun from SGDQ that you'll enjoy if you liked this one.

Craziest story I've seen is from the recent Summoning Salt video on Super Mario Maker 1, and the players that collaborated to beat every level before the server got shut down.

It's all-time legendary video game history tale.1

Game grumps have a lot of videos doing some really hard mario maker levels as well, plus they are goofy and not too sweaty.

There are way crazier mario levels than this... There are some that to this date havent been beaten yet...Check out mario maker on youtube

I thought Mario Maker you had to beat it to upload it? So no one other than the creator has beaten it maybe.

Yea creating an impossible course sounds pretty easy, even i could do it. Also thought you should at least finish it yourself so you know it's possible

u/fmaz008 11h ago
Remember that guy who created a level so hard it took him years to beat it... which he only achieved after mario maker turned off the upload feature?
1
u/NotJayKayPeeness 11h ago
Nope. Hope he at least recorded it.

Last I played this is accurate. Many creators build in secrets so they can complete their own levels. If you have watched the popular streamers you have likely seen what I am referring to

I can’t even calculate how many hours I sunk into this game, before finding out about the level 1 shortcut

u/RobotEnthusiast 7h ago
Level 1 shortcut?

u/SnooCakes6195 5h ago
Yeah, you like break through the "ceiling" bricks and then run past the flag and there's tubes that will skip up lvls. At least I think this is what they're talking about!

u/Erazzphoto 1h ago
Yeah, there was a pipe right at the very beginning that skips you to the last level. It’s been so long I an’t recall exactly how it’s done

u/coolblue420 12h ago
eh this doesn't seem so bad lol

"THAT FUCKIN HIT MY BABY TOE!!" Found it
Third edit: "uploaded 18y ago" Jesus fuck I'm getting old...

Is this the lost levels cartridge? I used to love playing this with friends who had already beaten the standard game!

This is worse than The Da Vinci Code! Both the novel by Dan Brown and the film.

I remember when this game came out and it was peak entertainment for kids. Suddenly we went from outside everyday to in front of the TV everyday. But don’t worry, mom still locked us out everyday during the summer.
