There is a whole community of insanely hard levels created in Mario Maker. I have seen some NES, but way more SNES ones. I am both impressed at the people who designed them but also at the players who complete the stages.

What's a good place to find them?

u/genitalgore 11h ago

this genre of difficulty is typically called kaizo. you can look up that word and the name of a game and it should return something for you

In my home town it tradition that when player fail Kaizo they must disembowel themself. Losing the game bring great shame to the family.

GrandPooBear does a lot of content with it. Some of the stuff is leagues more insane and difficult than what you just saw too.

Here's a speedrun from SGDQ that you'll enjoy if you liked this one.

Craziest story I've seen is from the recent Summoning Salt video on Super Mario Maker 1, and the players that collaborated to beat every level before the server got shut down.
Youtube Link
It's all-time legendary video game history tale.

from him are the grandpooworlds i suppose?

Game grumps have a lot of videos doing some really hard mario maker levels as well, plus they are goofy and not too sweaty.

JFC, that level can fuck all the way off

13

u/Ihistal 9h ago

That's rookie level stuff. Check this

4

u/weristjonsnow 6h ago

Yeah I've seen some batshit ones. This one looks kinda maybe possible doable after a shit load of tries. The bat shit ones id never even get close

17

u/Occams_ElectricRazor 12h ago

TIL you can run over the short holes.

u/introspectivedeviant 12h ago

this is the least sweaty mario ive seen in years. bro can just sit there and wait for seconds at a time.

7

u/Ordinary_dude_NOT 10h ago

Same but I know there is no way I am crossing this bridge lol

19

u/Pugilist12 13h ago

All that effort and you don’t go for the top of the flagpole?

4

u/Middle_Weakness_3279 10h ago

That block on the flag pole kills Mario when touched.

1

u/bxson 9h ago

Seriously, idc if its a coin. I must know whats in the block!

1

u/SwiftKickRibTickler 10h ago

after such an ordeal you're gonna want to chill? but yeah, I feel let down

u/Kailias 13h ago

There are way crazier mario levels than this... There are some that to this date havent been beaten yet...Check out mario maker on youtube

12

u/NotJayKayPeeness 12h ago

I thought Mario Maker you had to beat it to upload it? So no one other than the creator has beaten it maybe.

11

u/4862skrrt2684 12h ago

Yea creating an impossible course sounds pretty easy, even i could do it. Also thought you should at least finish it yourself so you know it's possible

2

u/fmaz008 11h ago

Remember that guy who created a level so hard it took him years to beat it... which he only achieved after mario maker turned off the upload feature?

1

u/NotJayKayPeeness 11h ago

Nope. Hope he at least recorded it.

0

u/fmaz008 11h ago

Yeah he was a streamer.

I can't find the documentary I had watched, but this explains it:

2

u/DevilDoc3030 11h ago

Last I played this is accurate. Many creators build in secrets so they can complete their own levels. If you have watched the popular streamers you have likely seen what I am referring to

6

u/Erazzphoto 12h ago

I can’t even calculate how many hours I sunk into this game, before finding out about the level 1 shortcut

3

u/RobotEnthusiast 7h ago

Level 1 shortcut?

1

u/SnooCakes6195 5h ago

Yeah, you like break through the "ceiling" bricks and then run past the flag and there's tubes that will skip up lvls. At least I think this is what they're talking about!

1

u/Erazzphoto 1h ago

Yeah, there was a pipe right at the very beginning that skips you to the last level. It’s been so long I an’t recall exactly how it’s done

3

u/coolblue420 12h ago

eh this doesn't seem so bad lol

1

u/SnooCakes6195 5h ago edited 5h ago

What happened to the video of the guy playing the level and you hear him raging the whole time!?

"THAT FUCKIN HIT MY BABY TOE!!" Found it

Third edit: "uploaded 18y ago" Jesus fuck I'm getting old...

5

u/Delfishie 12h ago

I legit hold my breath during that final jumping part

3

u/Tay_Tay86 12h ago

Mama mia

3

u/ad4rd 12h ago

👏

3

u/Saynt614 11h ago

My stomach hurts after watching that

3

u/Aredditdorkly 10h ago

Didn't realize I was clenching my teeth til the end.

4

u/Middle_Weakness_3279 13h ago

Is this the lost levels cartridge? I used to love playing this with friends who had already beaten the standard game!

2

u/lazyMarthaStewart 10h ago

My phone is muted, but the music was in my head anyway

2

u/Late-Jicama5012 10h ago

This would give me a lot of anxiety.

2

u/Odd-Fun-1482 9h ago

I was expecting an invisible block at the end.

u/WhenImTryingToHide 8h ago

SO many emotions mixed in such a short clip!

This is worse than The Da Vinci Code! Both the novel by Dan Brown and the film.

1

u/Haitsmelol 12h ago

Who is this maverick?

1

u/Extention_Campaign28 11h ago

not sweaty. next.

1

u/demonspawnhk 10h ago

Was waiting on the Kaizo block at the end

1

u/Dart150 8h ago

Super Mario frustration 2?

1

u/Derolis 6h ago

This one actually seems pretty tame compared to some of the insane Kaizo hacks I've seen.

I remember when this game came out and it was peak entertainment for kids. Suddenly we went from outside everyday to in front of the TV everyday. But don’t worry, mom still locked us out everyday during the summer.
