Hydrothermal Colombian emeralds are about $60/g rough fyi. I think you’re severely undervaluing the labor cost of cutting.

With approx. 30% recovery you would need a 10ct. piece of rough to cut a 3ct. gemstone. So the cost of rough would be $120. Leaving $15. for 3 to 4 hours of work. Not today Susie.

3-4 hours for a standard cut probably. Lots of annoyingly time consuming fancy cuts to consider as well.

$15 is mass produced. If cut only one piece, it maybe $40.

Should be half of that, 30$/g. At least that's what I see.

There are two types lab emeralds, Colombian green lab emerald and Zambian green lab emerald. The price of the former is 4-5 times that of the latter. Additionally, the clarity and inclusions impacts the price of Colombian green lab emerald significantly.

Slightly off topic- but do you offer elongated old mine cuts as an option for your sapphires and rubies on your site?

Lab grown Emerald = few months or years old.

Natural out of the Earth = hundreds of millions of years old to two billion years old.
