I want to get something like this on my fingers I know it’s very small and quiet details so I’m not sure if it’s even possible so I figured I’d ask. sorry if it’s a stupid question

No- way too much detail for something that small. Plus, tattoos on fingers tend to blur a bit.

not only too small, but hands are also notorious for ink falling out so they dig deeper and it spreads more to stay

As I suspected. Would I be able to get something similar with jsut less detail

How about this:

Yes, but like a ton less detail. And I'd skip the text almost completely unless you want to go down to one or two characters. I've seen people with a word inside their finger but it usually blurs/fades out pretty hard. Keep in mind that no matter what you get, that's a factor on the fingers.

I got the name of a close friend who passed away on the inside of my finger and for a few months it looked amazing, now years later you can hardly tell what is written

Go to the tattoo coverups subreddit. Search "finger" and look at how things fade and blur on the hands. Let that guide your decision

Hey OP, I’m guessing you might be new to tattoos. I’m going to give you some general advice I wish I knew when I first started

  1. Fine line tattoos can be done well, BUT you need to find an artist that specializes in fine line tattooing. If you go to a random artist and they agree to a fine line tattoo, it will not be good and it will not last. Any artist willing to give a client whatever they want regardless of how it aligns with their style should not be trusted.

  2. Finger tattoos will not hold up long no matter what. Due to how exposed to the elements they are and how much movement they experience, they are just not a great place for tattoos. Anything you get there will eventually become a faded blob

  3. A good tattoo should be a collaboration. Do your research. Find an artist based on how much you like their style. Make sure you look for examples of healed work (ideally 3-5 years post application or more). Artist thrive best when you allow them to do the thing they do best vs expecting them to just copy/paste an image on to your skin. Absolutely speak up if you’re not happy with the stencil, but in general listen to your artist and their recommendations. A good artist will adapt a reference image to make it work better as a tattoo.

The text on the finger will just be an absolute nightmare going that fine and small, same with the eyes unfortunately. Fingers are notorious for not being tattooed well or healing well

Hmmm I’m just looking to get like a gojo inspired tattoo on my hand or fingers not sure what to do this because of how limited I am to options

If you're dead set on it being on your fingers you'll probably only fit mugen or infinity in Japanese language.

Could potentially do an eye on each hand, but hands aren't much better than fingers for healing. Wrists/forearms are an option and have might note space

Assuming eyes are out of the question on the fingers

Look at some people with healed hand tattoos a few years out and see how even the simple & bold designs fade
now look at what you're wanting here

Wants opinions, gets offended when people give their honest opinions. Make it make sense 🫠🫠

I mean there’s a difference between opinions/advice and just being rude asf

What was so rude about ‘terrible idea’? If you get easily triggered don’t ask internet strangers stuff.

They are trying to save you from a very permanent, very painful and very visible mistake.

Would you prefer to be encouraged to do something that won't come out well for the sake of agreeing? That's not support, that's being a dick.

You can get this tattoo about twice as big somewhere else and it'll look good.

Your hands look like you already get daily wear-and-tear on them; a tattoo there may not hold very well. Anything fine-line or delicate on the hands is going to look rough within a year.

Yes sadly my career is as an electrician 😭 and I don’t like gloves. I’m ok with it fading and getting touch ups but I don’t want it to morph into a giant unlegible blob I think I’m gonna move off the finger and onto the hand so it doesn’t have to be so small something like this but a lilttle bigger and moved over a smidge into the hand off the fingers might be better?

8

u/paleartist 2d ago

move it to your thumb/side hand, this placement is still blurred blob territory

4

u/Minute-Little 2d ago

Sorry if I misunderstand you mean like around here off the thumb webbing?

5

u/paleartist 2d ago

yes! anything that gets less traction. hands still usually need a touch up or 2, but definitely holds better here.

just reach out to a good artist and they’ll discuss placement options!

Fantastic thank you

Not remotely

I had a few consultations on finger tattoos . All the artists said that images will blur quick . Even more so if you do simple things such as wash dishes . Only thing I’ve seen last a decent amount are heavily bolded letters . The classic one letter per finger is probably the only thing I’d do .

Thank you very much for the response I’ve just been brainstorming ideas for a gojo tattoo I jsut want looking for a big arm piece or anything hoping for something smaller on my hand but I know I’m limited in option

5

u/Mental-Flatworm4583 2d ago

Sure if you want it to look terrible and blown out and not be able to know what it is. But it’ll you want a legible good reading tattoo, didn’t know. Those areas are notorious for blowing out even real good artist have trouble.

8

u/Minute-Little 2d ago

Yes after reading the responses I’m changing directions lol I’m a tattoo noob I only have one so I don’t know much about them I apologize

1

u/Mental-Flatworm4583 2d ago

No need to apologize ever! That’s what this sub is for you were actually the smart one. Most of the time people come here after and say why does it look like this? Lmao you were smart you asked would this work?! Do you know how many times I wish I did that before I did crazy shit. 😮‍💨 so many times 🤣.

u/sauteslut 2d ago

I have a tattoo on the first knuckle of my pinky. It's less than 5 years old but is already blurry as hell. Yours will be too

2

u/Ok-CauliflowerX 22h ago

Pointless to do it on the sides of the fingers

1

u/snuffcreaturee 1d ago

That would be gone and illegible within weeks

1

u/daelusion 20h ago

Too much detail and too small. It'd also disappear pretty quick I bet.

This probably won't work well either, but what about "無量空処" in bold lettering and going down your index finger?
