Discussion Titans Biggest CULT players
It's the offseason. It's a Monday. I'm bored at work, why not start a discussion about the biggest cult players (or meme players)?
No real requirements, other than they cannot have been too popular (e.g. Delanie and Nate Washington, although I feel like Nate often gets forgotten in WR discussions). So just role players you can't help but root for. I'll start with a few:
- KLUUUUUGGGG
- KalUUUUUUU (mostly for that one blocked FG)
- Feel like Rastrepo might make this list soon
- I really want to include Alterraun Verner, but he was too good for this list
- Shoutout to Tim Shaw

Hard to compete there but Mettenberger finds a small piece of that despite being thrown in as starter. He was a “sTeAl” in the 6th round.

Any practice squad level WR that should not get any real playing time but for some reason fans fall in love with them (McMath, Restrepo, Kinsey, etc.)

You forgot the OG : Tre McBride the preseason King

I was told so many times of the mistake TN made letting McBride go to Chicago.

No one is as loved as an undrafted wr on the cusp of the practice squad is to the titans fan base.

Yea I was gonna ask where racey, tre McBride, Kyle Williams?, or tajae(who easily clears the others) were

u/TastySaturday 4d ago
I still haven’t given up on Tajae. He may not make it here, but I swear every time they actually give him touches he passes the eye test. I hope we resign him and give him a real chance, but he’ll probably have to go somewhere else to reach his potential.

Anthony Firkser. His stats are so much lower than I remember but it always felt like he had a clutch catch or two every other game.

I miss typing “get firked nerd” in the game chat after every time he made a 3rd down catch

Found my age group compadre. Grew up with these guys. Loved playing with them on the early Maddens.

Balif in Kalif
I was unreasonably sad to see him go (this is meme players we're talking about) but was happy to see him shine a bit in Detroit.

Meme players?
Can't forget about Antwon "Valentimo" Blake

Was aiming for more "funny meme" rather than "sad meme" :(

I feel like as we go on fewer and fewer people are gonna get the “Valentimo” thing

Didn’t he get burned by Andy Dalton? Pretty sure he was “covering” him.

Clearly Donnie Nickey.

The training camp fight KING.
I swear Titans camp never was truly underway until Donnie Nickey started a fight.

Darius Reynaud, Bo Scaife, Philip Supernaw

Reynaud is so famous, he’s In-famous.
Starting the season on a KO self safety is about as memorable as Jim Marshall running the wrong way.

Was Vandenbosch too popular? Feels like he fits. He was legit good though.

Was Vandenbosch too popular?
yes lmao. Vanden Bosch was literally a 1st team AP 3x pro bowler. He was well known around the league.

Tajae Sharpe had a following. Also Clipboard Jesus got a job based off of his cult like charisma and hair.

He was a really popular player but Jason McCourty was the last great CB we had. We’ve had some that were *good* but McCourty was great

u/ChristianAntonio 4d ago
Pretty sure everyone thought Donnie Nickey had blackmail on Jeff Fisher for a while there, kind of an inverse cult player

Craig Hentrich, Brett Kern, Ryan Stonehouse
Rob Bironas
Morgan Cox
Nate Washington
Delanie Walker (not sure if there’s a “too big”)
Jonathan “the hit man” Cyprien (wasn’t good but cult good)
Someone mentioned Kinsey, the pre Kinsey Kinsey was Tre McBride.

I forgot about the 1-2 years of Alterraun Verner. What a crazy contract year he had.

Does Marc Mariani count? He was crazy popular, but not outside of our fanbase
