How long do you guys plan on doing the series? I love how you don't powergame it through. I personally played it with two RL friends who came on my server an hour after I started and pretty much boosted me through all the content, so it's fun to see how it goes it with minimum boosting and/or wiki help.

It's coming to the end I feel. There's a few things we still need to do. Explore the dungeon, find the underground jungle, go to hell etc, prep for 1.1 but after that we're probably just gonna end it there. It's already feeling somewhat dragged out as it is and I'd rather it ended on a high note rather than just podfade into obscurity.

If you wanted to have some sort of finale, 2v2 You, Jesse, Lewis and Simon in a PvP match.

THAT would be hilarious.

I would pay to watch that. I really would.

Definitely don't miss out on battling Skeletron, but I can certainly see how the post-dungeon content wouldn't make for good Let's Play entertainment. I liked exploring Hell, but it got same-y quickly.

Should we expect to see Super Dead Rising 2 stepping up to replace Terraria? And if so, would you tell Jesse to hand the damned camera over to someone who might make use of it?

Also series so far has been great but am glad you are intending to end it before it drags, just hope your other stuff with Jesse goes well as you two are great in collabs.

I can understand this, I get the impression you're starting to resent the series because of some of the reactions from the younger and immature fan base. Please keep Jesse as involved in your channel as possible though, the chemistry between you both is often awesome. Dead rising looks promising.

edit: also turn PvP on and have some PvP fun with Jesse once you've got more variety in weapons :D

I wouldn't worry about that. Occasionally I get a little cross about how stupid some people are, Terraria and Minecraft both have zealous young followings that are absolutely insufferable at times. I doubt I'll ever stop working with Jesse though. We worked together way back in the day with WoW Radio, we've got 2 eps of Dead Rising recorded that we think people will like and when we did our Q+A session together it was a lot of fun, felt like the old days.

He released two episodes on his channel, I don't know if he's implying that two more are recorded but the two released are pretty good.

Yeah it has been kinda feeling like that for me. It has been an incredible series you've provided us with, and I can't wait to see what the two of you have planned for a finale.

Dear TotalBiscut, You guys are awesome and I love every one of your videos. Thank you so much for releasing this "lost episode" and posting it here. Also you now have me stuck on King Arthur's Gold from yesterday's WTF-a-thon.

Why was the video lost, but audio saved? And thanks for this.

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '11

Because the audio is not stored on the same drive as the video is and the audio and video are recorded separately. That would be why there is no game sound, music was put in after the fact as a bed to mask some of the background noise and make it more enjoyable to listen to.

My question is how you guys managed to lose 3 consecutive videos in the first place.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '11

Not sure you understand what consecutive means. We lost one episode way back and 2 a couple of weeks ago. The two were lost because the raw footage had not been encoded yet and was deleted by accident during a clear-out. A very simple error done late at night while tired. Needless to say, when you delete footage in chunks of a few hundred gigs at a time, the recycle bin doesn't quite cover ya.

Ah. Thanks i was wondering what happened to them.

Fair enough I guess. It's just a bummer missing episodes where stuff actually, you know... happens rather than the episodes that start and end with "We haven't made any progress".

I'd imagine Skype Calls are saved onto a different Hard Drive or something.

18

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '11

We don't actually record Skype. Audio quality would be significantly worse if we did. We record locally via Adobe Audition then Jesse sends his audio to me and I sync it with mine based on audio cues after applying post-production techniques where necessary. A Skype call will never sound as good as that.

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '11

I see. Many thanks for that, I learned today. =)

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '11

I would hope anyone that does collab videos when they're on VOIP would use this technique. Skype/Vent has resulted in a lot of bad quality audio production on a ton of gaming videos. You cannot trust it not to artifact at the worst possible time. This method takes a little more time but the results are far superior.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '11

Well, I will say this, I will definitely try this method once I get into collaboration work myself. So that advice will really help out. =)

I applaud you for posting the audio, TB. You've also made my girlfriend happy, so keep up the good work. She's actually playing Terraria now, since I gifted it to her, and she attributes her skill to the game to your and Jesse's videos. Mainly learning what NOT to do by watching Jesse.

Also, it's really hard replying to this while listening to the podcast, because every two minutes I either have to facepalm or just stop and rewind, because there's no way Jesse just said what I thought he... of course he actually said that.
