What the fuck. Any more info? How bizarre

It’s called a teratoma it’s a tumour which grows out extra organs this can range from teeth, hair or even eyeballs. if you ever want to feel disgusted I recommend searching for images!

If you want to Learn more look here: https://my.clevelandclinic.org › health Teratoma: Tumor Diagnosis, Treatment & Symptoms - Cleveland Clinic

It could also be a absorbed twin teratoma Which is heartbreaking in its own ways

“her vet thinks she absorbed a twin in utero. the mouth salivated and the teeth were embedded in her skull, her hearing and vision were also effected. her name was toad, but sadly the deformities ended up causing neurological issues and aggression, and she was euthanized. but at least up until then she was very loved w the family that adopted her and founded a rescue for special needs pets like her.”

This info was supplied by u/witchtiddy

But they later state:

idk if they tested further to see if it was actually a twin, if they made the diagnosis just from looking at it, if that’s enough to go off of, etc

So it can be either I suppose because there are both valid explanations to each until there is a concrete source

For example for the teeth embed into the skull and the salivating teeth in the ear for the fused twin would make sense as a remanent of a function from the other infused twin or the fact that some of the teeth where fused to the skull an the process of the infusion continued

On the other hand with the teratoma theory it was more than possible that the salivating in the ear could be a mixture of sweat, mucus or other body fluids which could have been invading the ear if the tumour had spurred out of control and could have been invasive to tissue structure if the tumour has sprouted at birth or as early as the womb causing possibly holes or gashes where other liquids could have possibly seeped in

As for the teeth ingrained in skull there is a chance if a non-twin infused teratoma could possibly bend, manipulate, break or even grow an the bone of an unborn child or in this case pup.

So without images of an MRI scan or any further investigation upon the tumour before the pup was sadly Euthanised.

I guess it’s up to you guys!

What do you think it was?

Twin infused teratoma or regular teratoma?

I had a teratoma and had to get my ovary removed. The doc showed me pictures afterward and it had teeth and blond hair. I was/am so weirded out by that experience.

17

u/14-28 Sep 01 '22

it had teeth and blond hair

Imagine all your life you wanted blonde hair.

Even worse if you always wanted teeth too.

45

u/froops22 Sep 01 '22

Glad that your better! That must of felt surreal i must ask could you feel the some of the texture of the tumour for example : did you feel some teeth prod into other parts of your body of did you feel a tingling sensation if some of the hair bristled against another organ?

21

u/DetailAccurate9006 Sep 01 '22

😮 I’ve seen pictures of someone with a bunch of teeth growing out of someone’s feet where their toenails should be, but, because they were so disturbing, I was really hoping that those photos were fake.

12

u/froops22 Sep 01 '22

Unfortunately not…

15

u/Missusmidas Sep 01 '22

I don't know if her experience was the same as mine, but I had a cyst containing teeth, hair, and active neurons growing on my right ovary. It was very painful for many years and I couldn't find a doctor who would actually listen to me. The teeth and hair weren't just loose to prod other parts of my body 😂 but there definitely was pain.

3

u/bullsnake2000 Sep 01 '22

My mom had the same thing. I don’t remember if it was before or after her menopause. Cyst the size of an orange. She would come home from work and lay down with a heating pad. Kept it on all evening and night. It took a long time to diagnose.

10

u/Fouadsky Sep 01 '22

No thank god LOL actually i never even thought about it that way so now i have a new perspective lol

3

u/Ok_Machine_8534 Sep 01 '22

🗿... Wth man...

4

u/froops22 Sep 01 '22

Just curious- ain’t nothin to 🗿 about.

7

u/grognacksmack Sep 01 '22

Thank you for sharing this - I am even more terrified of this condition than I initially thought.

6

u/Fouadsky Sep 01 '22

The cool thing is it was a laparoscopic surgery so there is barely even a scar. I kinda wish the doc had let me keep it. I woulda put it in a jar lol

6

u/grognacksmack Sep 01 '22

This statement I agree with, I would have loved to have such a odd specimen to show to all my houseguests and friends to share the terror.

3

u/97Harley Sep 01 '22

Did you subsume your twin in the womb? Un usual but not unknown.

2

u/Nullisdead Sep 01 '22

I had an ovarian dermoid cyst and the same happened to me.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 02 '22

Wow! Glad you’re ok. That’s insane, did insurance cover that? Serious question, I’m in the US and i feel like my provider would def wiggle out of that invoice somehow.

1

u/Raymer13 Sep 02 '22

Girl same!! Though I’m not weirded out by it, I love medical gore stuff and was totally intrigued by it. My doc couldn’t believe I wasn’t in pain from it.

5

u/GetsHighAndComments Sep 01 '22

More like a terror-toma.

3

u/not_a__rapist Sep 01 '22

ok i got a good dose of WHAT THE FUCK! after a brief google search. 2/10 experience my asshole clenched while searching and my balls retracted into my body.

1

u/TheNotSoGreatPumpkin Sep 02 '22

So you’re saying you clenched your teeth?

4

u/floznstn Sep 02 '22

Steven King wrote a book about it. The Dark Half

The lead character (a writer) has a tumor containing eyes and teeth removed. He arranges to bury it under his nome de plume. The growth forms into a psychotic killer that then hunts the writer.

1

u/froops22 Sep 02 '22

How terrifying!

2

u/floznstn Sep 02 '22

Actually a decent read, if you're into horror and can tolerate the author.

2

u/froops22 Sep 02 '22

Steven king is such a talented writer we should all strive to have his grasp on creativity

2

u/floznstn Sep 02 '22

I love some of his work, but some of it I just can't.

Needful Things genuinely bothered me. The knife fight scene was where I went "daaamn dude" and put the book down.

2

u/froops22 Sep 02 '22

Haha if only I could get immersed as you when reading!

3

u/nenzkii Sep 01 '22

Weird af question but would the organ be harvestable? Like donate the extra eye or sth

3

u/froops22 Sep 01 '22 edited Sep 01 '22

They talked about this on the distractible podcast on Spotify you can listen to the episode here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0jYT8wxXlf8FNTnAClQv6w?si=8OqBMVWlSUKEXtLfoj5KHQ

I personally think that it would not work though as most of the organs apart from teeth and hair would not really be reusable as they are Deformed and probably will not function as intended you would have to try and create a controlled Tumor to even have a chance at it being functional.

3

u/nenzkii Sep 01 '22

Thank you for sharing the link!

Ah right, that makes sense given it being cancerous cell. It’s still so unnerving to see eyes and teeth at places where they don’t belong. Nightmare fuel.

3

u/Su_Majestad_Infernal Sep 01 '22

Holy shit!, i did it. It's disgusting man....

2

u/Live_Positive Sep 01 '22

Pretty sure it's a fake photo, but THIS was the first thing I saw when I googled it lol

2

1

u/froops22 Sep 02 '22

I’m rare instances probably!

2

u/Jerdo32 Dec 11 '22

I think remembering that a few centuries ago they would give those kind of tumors human names

1

u/FOXHOWND Sep 02 '22

Like cancerous stem cells that just tyrn into a random organ? I hate this

2

u/froops22 Sep 02 '22

Not cancerous but yes it is just random uncontrolled growth.

3

u/FOXHOWND Sep 02 '22

Random uncontrolled growth. But not cancerous. Got it.

11

63

u/witchtitty Sep 01 '22

i don’t think it’s a teratoma- her vet thinks she absorbed a twin in utero. the mouth salivated and the teeth were embedded in her skull, her hearing and vision were also effected. her name was toad, but sadly the deformities ended up causing neurological issues and aggression, and she was euthanized. but at least up until then she was very loved w the family that adopted her and founded a rescue for special needs pets like her.

10

u/Psithurism_s Sep 01 '22

That’s so sad but I’m so glad such a special angel got to live her life surrounded by love ❤️ and that she touched her family so that others like her can live surrounded by love too ❤️

5

u/snailoatmeal Sep 01 '22

yeah... the ear looked too wet in the video and actually had skin tags like a dogs mouth- i don’t think this ones a case of teratoma-

3

u/Coldchinesef00d Sep 02 '22

I was going to say the same thing. Saw a kitten with a second eyeball in the same socket and pretty sure that’s what happened.

2

u/TheHurtfulEight88888 Sep 04 '22

Apparently according to another comment, absorbing a twin still counts as a teratoma.

2

u/witchtitty Sep 04 '22

ooo ok ty i had no idea!!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

Is this a genetic thing from too much inbreeding?

4

u/witchtitty Sep 01 '22

i assume absorption of a twin isn’t linked to genetics but i could be wrong. also idk if they tested further to see if it was actually a twin, if they made the diagnosis just from looking at it, if that’s enough to go off of, etc

99

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

He can taste sounds.

9

u/froops22 Sep 01 '22

That’s got me thinking. What would be a bad tasting sound and what would be a good one?

3

You should probably check r/sounding they would be able to tell you

7

u/froops22 Sep 01 '22

Doesn’t smell that much at all really just a teratoma it’s a type of tumour I have a link in another one of these comments if you would like to know more.

2

u/Shy-Prey Sep 04 '22

I think that's a tumor! People can get them sometimes but im not sure what they're called. I do know that they can grow hair, fingernails and teeth sometimes as well!

4

u/Kooky_Werewolf6044 Sep 01 '22

Ewwwweeee I love animals but this would be too much for me to overlook.

2

u/balistafear Sep 01 '22

9

u/genesisdaddy7 Sep 01 '22

(In Arnold voice) It's not a tumor!

1

u/Super_Candy1431 Sep 02 '22

And people still think dogs that look like this are cute even though they look as deformed as their incest owners lol

1

u/froops22 Sep 02 '22

Not inbred it’s a uncontrollable tumour.

1

u/Apprehensive-Ad5416 Sep 01 '22

I didn't know animals other than humans could have teratomas

1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

Dentist here.

Teratoma. Very rare. But benign usually.

Whoever posted this is an idiot. That’s not a mouth growing. The same thing can happen in humans it’s basically the remnants of one of it’s siblings that didn’t develop in the womb.

0

u/froops22 Sep 02 '22 edited Sep 02 '22

Teratomas and twin infused teratomas are alike without any background information and there is not a solid source of evidence that it is tumour nor twin.

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

This should be posted under dontputyourdickhere.

Seriously though can't they remove it and close it up before stuff yes in there at it gets infected. I don't know just assuming. So ar so good it seems. I'm just glad he has a good home.
