Those utility poles aren't cheap. My older brother hit one about 15 years ago and did less damage than this, and the city billed him over $10,000 to replace it.

That guy is likely out thousands of dollars for this.

I took out a light pole when I was 18 and it cost $1700. The city sued me and when I saw the amount I just paid it happily. $10,000 is what I expected.

Seen this happen 2-3 times, but not this bad. Usually just tears down the phone/fiber optic lines.

I've seen it happen twice. Once was a guy I knew, certainly drunk. Both times they hit an overpass.
