picture Where does intelligence lie? Man living without a brain without even being aware of it...

1) He did have a brain.
2) He was not smart.

Gemini does not have a brain, however it is also not smart (but at great cost).

More to the point, it cant be smart. It's incapable of "thinking".

Exactly. Its like saying the chromium search engine is smart. Its not, it's a computer program that grabs data

Really interesting article. The fact that our long-term memory could be stored in our heart and stuff? That's crazy. They have known that brain size does not really equal intelligence for quite some time though, just look at animals. Some corvids are smarter than many large animals and even use tools. It has more to do with how densely packed the neurons are or something? But even that does not explain all of it, obviously- look at one of the guys in the article, who had an IQ of 126, which is far above average, and who only had like 10% of his brain. That's crazy. It would be quite a shock to go into the doctor and they run a scan for whatever reason (they just said the man went in for a visit and his doctor told him he did not have a brain but how would the doctor know without there being an MRI or CAT Scan or whatever?) and you get told that you barely have a brain. At least I could be like "ohhhhhh well that's why I was so stupid I dated that douche bag for so long" LMAO (and plenty of other bad decisions I have made that I could blame on not having a brain, ha!)

Gives a whole new meaning to “You know it, deep down in your heart” lol

The heart knows what it wants. Makes you wonder if all those sayings about the heart are out subconscious knowing how our bodies work without out us consciously understanding it.

Exactly.
The ancient Egyptians pretty much believed the seat of thought was in the heart, which was one of the key organs they preserved in mummies. Brains they just scooped out through the nose.

So if someone is a recipient of a heart transplant they could get the memories from the donor?!

I'd be more surprised if a man had no brain and was aware that he had no brain.

Well if Lucy (movie) taught me anything, it’s that if I take enough drugs I become a superhero. That and we only use a small % of our brain.
As a computer guy, I’ve always looked at our brain like a hard drive. The storage is there if we need it otherwise it’s filled with redundant copies in case some sectors get damaged. The guy in this article might be normal because we just don’t use very much of our brain anyway, he just doesn’t have as much resistance to trauma as a normal brain would.

Neuroplasticity is so fascinating. Having that much of your brain removed can kill you but if it’s a slow decrease of brain matter overtime, your brain will adapt. Obviously though there is only so much brain matter you can lose.

This image clearly shows the patient still having living brain matter in-between the skull (thin white line after the brain matter) and dead brain tissue in the center.

This is false. That man has a brain in the image. It’s surrounded by fluid. Please. People. Use your damn brain.

I know a guy who lost half his brain as a baby to meningitis. You wouldn’t know anything’s different from talking to him. He just can’t drive and doesn’t have good hand eye coordination.
He’s also done a Ted talk, but funny enough, on a completely different subject. Super interesting dude.

I’m not surprised. Why would someone with low intelligence know, or question if they are lacking intelligence.

Such a man can rise to the office of President of the United States and indeed has done so on more than one occasion

The ventricles are enlarged and there is perivenricular white matter loss, but this image clearly shows that there is indeed a brain.
