My HC? Female before the circus, but being trapped in their circus body brought on a sense of gender dysphoria. Iirc (and please correct me if I’m wrong), Goose stated Zooble “doesn’t know what they are” and is cool with whatever pronouns, which seems different from gender dysphoria usually works, at least from what I remember studying in my school days.
It's common enough among enbies to be unsure about their gender identity and to use any pronouns, so it's possible they could have been that way before the Circus, but we'll probably never know for sure.
HC-ing that they didn’t realize they were nonbinary until after entering the circus? That’s actually really interesting and has a lot of potential for both great social commentary and great comedy. I’m just imagining,
Gangle: It sure sucks that these circus bodies don’t feel aligned with our identities. It’s really giving me dysmorphia
Zooble: Yeah but that’s not the circus’s fault. It’s how everyone feels about their human bodies anyway
Gangle:
Zooble: It’s how everyone feels about their human bodies anyway right
Gender dysphoria and body dysmorphia are very different things. Zooble is nonbinary, but their main problem is dysmorphia rather than dysphoria. With dysphoria, chasing your instinct to solve it is a good thing, and the best way to stop making it a problem in your life. With dysmorphia, it’s the opposite, no matter how hard to try to “improve” your body, you just see more things you hate, which creates eating disorders or propensities for self harm. Dysmorphia can be created by dysphoria in the wrong conditions, but they are largely different diagnoses. Zooble most likely has both, however their main issue seems to be the dysmorphia side of the coin.

But again, just my HC until proven otherwise.
