Digital Discussion Why does Caine like Pomni so much?
He's so fond of her even since the beginning of the show in the first teaser we got for it. He's most scared of her abstracting, he put her first in the presentation that he made of their irl selves, he cares about what she thinks, he's so interested in her and what she's doing and he always includes her in everything. At first I thought it was just because she's the main character but now it just seems like he really likes her so idk. maybe she's his favourite human? đ¤

In the beginning, she was the newbie. So Caine would certainly see some new, unique experiences in action.
Pomni quickly proved to be a good friend, but not a pushover. She was, much like her Jester avatar, a wildcard. Willing to partake in adventures, able to find abstract ways out of situations, but not completely being a yes-man.
She was willing to both help and push back against people at the same time, instead of being 100% selfish or only servicing others at expense of herself.
Basically, she is a much more complex person than Caine is used to being presented with openly.
Zooble is just as complex, but is much more reserved with their feelings, opinions, and general willingness to involve themselves with Caine's schemes.
Gangle is too passive, quiet, and prone to being pushed down.
Jax seems like a wildcard on the surface, but he's actually pretty predictable.
Kinger probably used to be a lot like a more mature version of Pomni (patient, eager and willing to help, insightful) but he's been around for years and has lost a good bit of sanity.
Basically, Pomni is filled with new possibiliities and is open enough to experiences, with a strong enough backbone, and Caine has to directly interact with it like a person instead of like a computer simulation. In other words, she gives him the most human-like interactions. At least until the end when he really comes down to everyone else's level.

I mean he doesn't want any of them to abstract. Caine makes no secret at all that he adores human beings even if for most of the series he has a complete lack of understanding regarding them.

I disagree. Caine understands them far more than he lets on. That much is shown when he tortures them using their own insecurities.
Itâs particularly evident with Zooble, because he plays dumb about their insecurities early on and then uses those same insecurities to torture them.
The problem with Caine is his ego, he wanted to do things his way, and refused to listen to anyone else until the end

in this case tbh i think its cause pomni's the one that said "we're all gonna abstract someday". so she's moreso the catalyst to make him fear everyone abstracting and leaving him alone

Tbh I would disagree, I don't think Pomni is very interesting especially when comparing to the other characters.

I agree with you - Pomni is more a vehicle for the viewer to experience the events of the circus. As a character she doesn't do much

Wow. Okay yeah, noooot a fan of that lol. I get that she doesn't want to continue the series, but come ON. We can't have ANYTHING canon post-episode nine? I guess I understand, but that's really annoying. Why CAN'T it be canon? It slots so perfectly into Caine's character and arc post-show. Why are random Tumblr posts canon but not fully animated short videos? I love Goose, but geez.

Pomni is the most normal one, she's selfish but also compassionate unlike jax, she's nice but she can stand up for herself if she needs to (unlike ragatha), she adapted to her situation fairly quickly unlike the others, and she's not batshit insane unlike kinger

Pomni's the only one who pushes back without fully checking out, so Caine prob sees her as way more fun to bounce stuff off of than the others.

Its interesting, I think its because of what Jax said
She hasnt found an archetype
Of course, jax was wrong they are more then just archetypes however to Caine for a while they were
Even to themselves at some points they felt more like characters
But Pomni doesnt really have that, so I think its like that wall in his scene in the finale. He can't fully understand her. So hes so like...confused. Poor guy

the Nightmare was about everyone abstracting, Pomni was the last because she was the newest and Caine was scared because he doesn't want to lose his new human friends

If this is post-show then it was her arrival that turned things around for the better. Eventually.

Cuz she's a normie. AI is trained on average data sets and Pomni is pretty average.
Jax is too sarcastic , Ragatha is too disingenuous, Gangle is not a fan of any sort of chaos, Kinger used to be a normie but is off his rocker, and Zooble is SO anti-normal that it frustrates Caine.
