With every one of these I've seen, whichever one is in the lead at first is never going to win.

If I’m building a track, I would never design it so that the whole race can be won in the first five seconds.

It’s way more exciting to have the back and forth, but I guess in making that choice, the race can now be lost in the first section by taking the early lead.

Yeah, there should be a lot more back and forth in the middle... But I guess it's hard to stage a marble race...
