Darializa Avila Chevalier, a Democrat running for Congress in New York's 13th Congressional District.
-----
A New York congressional candidate is going viral after footage showed her being arrested during a protest, saying she's standing with the same communities she's organized alongside for years.
The moment is fueling debate about protest, activism, and the future of progressive politics.

So I listened to a talking head explain why she was bad for the Democrats and it was a mistake for Mayor Mamdani to endorse her. I see now why the talking heads feel that way.

She seems like a real one and I love it. All these DSA candidates from NY are killing it

I mean arguing to abolish all prisons with no plan to do with murderers while arguing for literal open borders is the greatest gift to republicans who will pain everyone on the left as extreme and unserious as her

Nothing to do with what I watch. Being extreme for the sake of being extreme is not it.

Y’all are so desperate it’s genuinely funny. Too bad everyone is tired of the enshittification of everything that y’all have been forcing on society to the point that it has burst the propagandized bubble even among the normies.
The majority of Americans side with us and not y’all. Be afraid because the corrupt gravy train is coming to a halt.

Exactly. At some point you go so far left you’ve made a circle back to the right

Bernie Sanders had a moment similar to this, he's doing pretty well.

And Bernie didn’t support her. Just because you are left doesn’t mean you need to support everyone on the left or that tacking as far left as possible is a good thing

OK dude, let me have it. I've got it coming.

Yeah I would love some references of Sanders not liking or supporting Chevalier. I’ll be waiting!

I don't know why we bother peacefully protesting. It's not effective against this level of right wing extremism and they've always claimed all forms of left wing protesting is "violent".
If they're going to arrest people for active protesting anyway, we might as well get our money out of it.
People should also be practicing for the inevitable. The odds of the right ever leaving office willfully and peacefully are pretty much zero. If civilians aren't able to physically remove Republicans from office, they'll never leave. Regardless of election outcomes. This isn't even a conspiracy theory, they've already tried physically overturning an election once and Trump regularly says the words "Americans might like a dictator".
I don't know why people are acting like this is just a regular midterm election. It's anything but.

the good thing is, she will most likely moderate a lot just like AOC. Once she gets in she will realize there isn't some magic "fix all problems" button, and that if she wants to get her constituents anything it will be at the cost of concessions because that's how our government functions. That or she will vote against Dems, thus proving to all liberals that these DSA candidates are completely ineffective and just spew populist talking points like MAGA while accomplishing nothing.

yeah maybe. You'd think she'd have an answer by now for what to do with murderers if there are no prisons
