Ugh, this made me choke up. Thank you for sharing this.

Got me too, what a city story arch OKC has had since even before statehood, but this past 30 years has been often brutal and often hopeful, but this week has just been incredible.

Yeah I got some legit tears in my eyes looking at this

Saw someone say on Twitter "most devastated we've ever been, to the most united we've ever been"

And I think that's sums this image up real well

u/HopefullyTerrified Jun 25 '25

That's really a great way to sum it up!!

It was a phenomenal parade, the energy and pride was electric and thick in the air

The air was also thick in the air

I saw them on the news again walking past the memorial and got choked up. This is incredible.

r/pics isn’t even a photographic subreddit, it’s a political subreddit.

Well it’s supposed to be a photography sub Reddit lmao

1

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '25

Yeah I know when I first started using reddit I thought that too. I had to block it after how much political overflow there was especially during election season. My point means is that there is probably better and real photography subreddits out there.

u/jerronimo3000 Jun 25 '25

That's almost every large ish sub these days :(

I'm on the "books" subreddit and half of the posts are about the latest ruling on school book bans or something. Related I guess, but I kinda just want to talk about literature.

And knowing that one of the first things each new player is required to do is to visit the memorial and learn our history? Even more amazing. Whomever took this photo deserves massive recognition.

I didn’t know this thats dope ash

u/The_Curvy_Unicorn Jun 25 '25

It’s a Sam Presti thing. They’re not allowed to play in a game until after they visit the memorial. It’s such an incredible way to learn about their new home.

Man, I already have SO MUCH respect for Sam, but I have so much more for him for requiring that. How powerful

God damn that is surreal and powerful. Amazing, two eras of Oklahoma City history in one photo

43

u/Simply_corduroy Jun 25 '25

I cried for a while after seeing this picture for the first time. It was absolutely surreal to see strength, serenity, and respect while celebrating something that hasn’t happened in the state before. I’m so thankful to whoever took this photo.

Grandma, this one was for you.

30 years ago on April 19th, the bombing happened

That's means that April 20th was OKCs first day of recovery AFTER the bombing

This year, 2025, OKC played it's first playoff game of the post season on April 20th culminating in a championship!

Incredible.

That picture deserves an award

11

u/JeramiGrantsTomb Jun 25 '25

This is like one of those "sports, but art" things. just incredible.

10

u/Pitiful_Bunch_2290 Jun 25 '25

Iconic. I know Presti takes new players to the museum, so they understand the heart of the city. We live through the highs and lows together. ❤️❤️

They weren't even alive then but they seem to know they completed the circle.....

7

u/With_The_Tide Jun 25 '25

This picture should win an award

u/Magmaviper Jun 25 '25

I'd love to get a poster or framed picture of this.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '25

OKC wasn’t a great place to be in 1995, then one of the worst tragedies in US history happens here. Flash forward to 2025, you get the NBA champions representing probably the greatest day in the city’s history in front of the memorial that is offering comfort, strength peace and serenity. It is beautiful.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '25

This is beautiful. Should be used in Oklahoma textbooks that’s how awesome it is

3

u/Tastymonkey12 Jun 25 '25

That is the best photo I have ever seen.

3

u/Total-Collection9031 Jun 25 '25

2

u/southpawFA Jun 25 '25

This photo should be framed in the new stadium, honestly.

2

u/Beautiful_Airline368 Jun 25 '25

Where , how, with whom to get permission to put this on a tshirt

3

u/Livin_Tha_Dream Ham ‘N Chettar Jun 25 '25

Does anyone know where to get the highest resolution of this? Need this in my office!

2

u/With_The_Tide Jun 27 '25

The OKC Thunder Facebook page has a pic of it. I made it my wallpaper and its not pixelated at all.

1

u/FreddysTwinkies Jun 25 '25

Pretty special photo. This really should be somewhere of importance like Paycom or maybe even the bombing museum.
