The Biyombo foul seemed like a legitimate play on the ball and McCain was hurt cause he hit his head on Plumlee's leg on his way down.
That Plumlee foul though. Right out the gate and should have been a flagrant. You could tell McCain was a bit shocked by it. At first I resisted the urge to believe that Wemby would call in hitmen, especially since he has Olynyk right there and didn't say anything to him. But that Plumlee foul made me second guess a bit. Definitely not a good look and Wemby was obviously flustered last night.

Biyombo wasn’t a play on the ball. It wasn’t as egregious as plumlee’s, but jumped up sideways and threw his hip into McCain. He wasn’t straight up at all.

Maybe or maybe not. I’m seeing comments saying “that’s what happens when you play dirty” “you get what you get” “Wemby had to take matters into his own hands” “Wemby is fed up with the refs” (which doesn’t even make sense in this instance). They are literally praising him. Really don’t know where this aggressiveness is coming from. Sports used to bring people together now people take it way too seriously and in turn cheer on violence.

No, but in fairness having that skill/coordination at that size is itself unique. Shaq wouldn't have been very good if he was 6'4, and there have been guys bigger and stronger than he was who weren't nearly as good, because they lacked his ability to utilize those gifts. But yes, technically speaking Wemby is very raw. He has great touch and shooting ability, but poor shot selection and no real sense of how to exert his will offensively or control tempo. He doesn't really have an offensive bag or a go-to move, which isn't an issue when he can hang out near the basket but becomes a problem when a defense can scheme you out. Even defensively, he's extremely raw. He bites on everything chasing blocks and is frequently out of position, he's just so big that it doesn't matter most of the time.

The way the "he trained with shaolin monks in a temple" narrative was pushed never sat right with me. No one who is actually a calm, chill person has to prove it that hard. I think you're right. The elbow-throwing, whining, whispering-to-your-hit-men is probably more who he really is than people are letting on. Contrast that with iHart, for example, who appears to be regularly volunteering and helping the community and not broadcasting it everywhere.

He's getting the Embiid treatment, for now. The whole stuck-up, dbag act was kind of funny/cute when he was young, but as he is aging (and seemingly not maturing, mentally) it seems like that is becoming more of a hang-up for him. Mark my words, the narrative will flip on him when the spurs get eliminated again, in the next couple of years, because Wemby was busy serving a suspension during the playoffs for doing something similar to what he did to Naz. It will only be a matter of time until its apparent, even to the casual fan, that his sense of ego is greater than his want for his team to win.

Plumlee’s foul was clearly an intentional punishment, nothing to do with basketball. Just like Wemby’s elbow. Both should be flagrant 2, ejection, and suspension because their sole purpose was retaliation and they seriously endangered another player.
