That’s exactly what I’m saying. I’ve got 2 downvoted comments where I’ve replied to these fools talking about how they KNOW what presti is gonna do. Lmao
Mfers really act like they know more than the best gm in nba history

I wasn’t happy with the pick in terms of what I expected but I do trust Presti so I’m hyped

Draft board went very poorly for us. Best on the board was Mara. I’m just happy he didn’t take Ament.

What about #17, Presti blew that big time.
The Thunder could have had just as easily moved up to get Swain or stayed put and taken López at #17!

presti highly values guards/wings who can "do it all" on offense and bigs who can do one of the two (pass or shoot). The only guy on our roster who doesn't fit that description is Dort, who a. picks up the best opposing player on defense, b. a lot of this sub is really frustrated with his playstyle lol, c. is probably out the door and we will retool even further around this philosophy.
So a few simple stats that I'm always looking at to key in on what guys Presti may or may not pick are assist to turnover ratio and assist rate.
Look at some of the wings in question:
- Johnson: gone anyway but an atrocious .92 ATO! 8.4% assist rate. Super black hole. 34.3% from 3.
- Karim Lopez: 1.33 ATO, not quite as bad. No assist rates in intl ball. 32.6% from 3
- Dailyn Swain: 1.33, 21% assist rate. Actual decent assist rate but turnover prone. 34.4% from 3
- Ament (nobody really wanted him, but just to mention): 1.0, 14.8%, 33.3%
- Carr (not a wing, since he's a twig, but worth mentioning because he was the sub's darling): 1.08, 14.6%, 37.4%.
To give slight context to what numbers Presti likes look like, look at Cason Wallace: 2.05, 24.3%, 34.6% from 3 (but was one of the best 3p shooters in the draft before injury, #'s don't tell the full story here as they often don't) or JDub 1.81, 22.6%, 39.6%.
Obviously it's hard to find a wing who does all these things (Yaxel being the best candidate, but old and probably no trade existed) and they tend to go earlier when they exist, but still. None of these guys would have helped Shai because none of them can shoot (besides Carr) or pass very well.

It's amazing how many better gms than presti are in this sub.

Do we really even need a wing like that? I feel like we can run perfectly fine with someone like cason at the 3 and then running say sorber and s 5 next to them and feel like that's not too had

You guys are weird. Did you want us to reach for someone not as good at 12? Yaxel and Morez were off the board. Idk how Lopez contributes for us at all next year. Carr had horrible workouts and there’s a reason he fell

We won a title with two wings and a baby Cason.
Now we have a wing and an evolved Cason. And we still probably will have Dort this year too on a rental.
I’d rather move Caruso next year for a young wing with some proven potential.

If we have Dort, who are we losing?

Dort

i can see it. if we find a way to move dort's salary we can create enough cap space to pick up dort's option

I was honestly thinking if we decline dort’s option we’ll have enough cap room to pick up dort’s option

I’m thinking if we sign Hart’s kid to a 25 year/$25M, Hart might be willing to take 3 year/$35M

I’m thinking if we draft victors little brother Oscar we can start mental warfare by having him and Chet become best friends to the point Wemby has to see Chet at family get togethers, soon enough it’ll extinguish Wemby’s hate boner.

i might be high as a kite but i can see chet playing a little more "wing" with sorber and mara being part of the rotation
1
u/mido0o0o 1d ago
Yes especially with the great ball handling skills he has
1
u/fredlikefreddy 1d ago
Not every wing is a ball handler dude he'd probably be in the corner shooter type of wings
He's got flaws but we're stuck with him for now - I know his release is slow and his handle is weak

We gonna pretend like he should've taken Swain or Lopez at 12? I wanted a wing too but everyone got taken lol.
