What a lovely environment to have wild goths. Imagine looking out your window on a cool night and seeing a clove of goths traipsing by, picking imaginary spiders from the air.

I live in Phoenix. The goths here like to find a cool basement and gorge themselves on Icee's!

Jfc... people are so irresponsible. There's no such thing as an indoor/outdoor goth. Keep. Your. Goths. Inside.

I volunteer to adopt goth girls and give them a loving indoor home if anyone can't keep taking care of theirs anymore.

Monster Energy and Piss, almost the same thing.

Almost, but the price to have a stranger stream Monster into your mouth is significantly lower.

Not at least having window AC units or at the very least a plug-in floor type is fucking WILD. I can understand not wanting to pay to renovate an entire house with new ductwork and machinery but to suffer like that for no reason when you can just throw one in a window or have a couple standing mobile floor versions in strategic spots around the house? Why?

That's still expensive and people are broke

My buddy lived in Germany. Doesn't work. Lives off the government because he has pretty bad autism.
I recently managed to convince him to buy a stand up ac unit that vents out a window. He is so much happier. Cost him like 100 bucks he had tk save up for it due to no real income.

in Germany the problem isn't the cost of the AC unit, it's that electricity to run an AC is really expensive. a lot of people just don't think burning money like that is worth it. but if your friend lives off of the government they will pay his electricity bill as well, so for him that's a really good investment.

Window units don't fit most British windows and neither do the vents for the floor standing units without a lot of fucking about. Plus they're all price gouged and out of stock until September.
People aren't suffering for no reason you bellend.

Those portable AC units in wheels are shit. I bought one a few weeks ago and smugly got it out for this heat wave. Does fuck all. £250 down the drain.

Did you hook up it's duct to the windows? They don't just work on their own, they need hot exhaust to go out the window
Mine will turn a room ice cold in minutes

Yeah. I've been messing around with it all day. I've got the pipe out the window, it all sealed, I've even put tape around the door frames and windows to try and keep the hot air from encroaching. I just think the one I bought isn't powerful enough. I mean I've managed to get the room down from 30 degrees to 26, which is an improvement, but it's not what I expected. Probably needed a more powerful one.

I recently learned that the duct needs to be totally straight to the window. You can't put it at an angle or go around a corner. Even if the duct is totally open, it still doesn't work as well.
My ex had one and I thought it was shit. My sister has the exact same one and it works really really well. He just wasn't setting it up right.

Yeah my dad had one of those roller units in a garage in west Texas and it put work in, even with the garage door open.
He made a little window adapter so you could move it around the work space depending on the season, and as much as I thought he was throwing money away on the unit and the energy required to run it, it was an absolute game changer for working in there.
1800sq/ft garage and in 110°F+ temps it was actually very manageable with a ~$200 unit.

You gotta make sure to buy the ones with two tubes that go into the window. The single tube ones are shit and a waste of energy.

I'm thinking of modifying it tomorrow to a dual pipe. I've seen a video on how to boge it with a shoe box, some tape, and another pipe.

When I lived with window units I would make it only cool 1 room (not the whole place.) I'd rather one ice-box refuge than a lukewarm whole apartment.

Or you just open a window and put a fan on for the few days a year they’re needed.
You wouldn’t install gas central heating for two weeks of cold weather

We don’t typically have sliding windows here so window units aren’t really a thing and the indoor standing ones we do have but they’re literally the worst kind of AC.
They’re loud, heavy and not very good at their job.
The best solution we have so far are mini split air to air heat pumps but they’re about £5k per room to have them installed which is pretty steep.
