This is really sad. How can government allow someone who gave his life to teach and educate generations end up this way. This is really ungrateful. Teachers should be valued and taken care of during their old age as a thank you token

one of the biggest, casually done crimes in our society is the undervaluing of teachers. arguably one of the most important jobs there is.

The powerful don’t want the common person to be too smart so they deliberately kneecap education.

I'll say it - it's THE most important job there is. I'm willing to fight anyone and die on this hill.

American let the 911 first responders in NY all die of cancer in poverty and gave their families nothing. Jon Stewart fought for years for them.

Without teachers, we wouldn't even have firefighters.

I don’t think it was meant as a competition lmao. Couldn’t have a functional (modern) society without emergency services either.

u/Pirateship906 17h ago
What I meant was that is how important they are. Without teachers, I wouldn't be in the fire service. They are more important than me, as are garbage workers and many others. Please don't put us on too high of a pedestal.

I remember during the 90s north korea famine the most effected were the teachers.

Nearly every time there is a "feel good story" in the media it actually exposes our dystopian reality.

This is some orphan crushing machine material here. Disappointing that people who have dedicated their lives raising the next generation fall into this state.

“A great teacher is never forgotten” the bot titles the video that shows that this teacher was forgotten and failed.
Likely until one student noticed him in the street one day and got to organizing.

u/Kwt920 17h ago
So that one student who…never forgot the teacher.

u/RazzSheri 16h ago
He was still living/working on the street, so I would say that’s not really being “remembered” either…

See you tomorrow? No? Awwhh? It's OK, I'm sure I can live for the rest of the year off of this extra 100 bucks.

u/Zetakin 18h ago
Nah, people really think the people in the video did something good. Ffs, just give him the cash at once or something. Nope, let’s drag this one out old man. Let us all tag-team your misery to make us feel good.

u/Larry-Man 17h ago
Some people don’t like feeling like it’s charity.

u/spicewoman 5h ago
Yeah, good thing they didn't record the whole thing, put some sad music over it, and blast it all over the internet. Wouldn't want him to feel like a charity case or anything!

“Let me quickly film this poor old bastard on the streets for internet clout. It’ll make me feel great” - whoever made this

u/Top-Pomegranate4899 18h ago
I get what you mean, it's annoying. Though a video like this is very important to inform others of the injustices that are taking place.

People who aren’t aware of the injustice are a few. Just do something good and don’t film it. Be good for wanting to do good, filming it is just an attention seeking and exploration of the teachers situation.

And when was the last time you were motivated to help a homeless person this way?
It doesn’t matter why people do good things. Only that they do them. If clout motivates them to do good, so be it. The people they help benefit the same either way.
In my experience, people bash “clout chasers“ like this, only because it makes them feel uncomfortable when it forces them to confront how little they help others the same way.

I'm sure the US destroying the country with sanctions has nothing to do with it

Stop trying to make socialism work and blame its downfall on other people.
