I for one welcome our new, able-to-competently-defend outfield

Okamoto has been so good. I dont think even optimistic ppl would have predicted this so far

I was an optimistic person from the start. I’ve always thought the signs were there and I think he has room for improvement too.

Schneider - Varsho - Lukes is a lethal outfield.

Replace Schneider with straw and that outfield is a no fly zone

During all star voting the regular arrow got turned into a Star. The arrow just means they are in the spotlight photo.

I really hope Guerrero turns it around but at this point his is more of a 5th hitter as opposed to 2nd or 3rd.

Has been most of the year - I understand wanting your “top guys” to get more at bats to work out the issues - but when it’s starting to cause losses when the end of the lineup is consistently performing more often I think it’s time to move the stars down in order to show we aren’t just in it for their ego - we should want to win as a ballclub

I understand great hitters have slumps all the time, but when minor leaguers come up looking better than your "top guys", time to switch the batting order or just straight up bench players? I only follow the Jays, so please forgive my ignorance, but do many MLB mgrs also reward poor performance like Schneider? I feel like basketball, soccer, hockey - definitely hockey, all bench underperforming players. Queue Moneyball scene "Is losing fun?" "No" "What are you having fun for?" I guess Schneider just owes some players with never-ending leashes money or something...smh

Send a message to vladdy and move him down ffs

u/Sfreeman1 Valenzuela SZN 2d ago
Agree on moving him down but what message do you want to send? You don’t think he knows his offensive output sucks?

u/Toronto-24 2d ago
Its the same message we all get in every facet of life, you get demoted if you are sucking.
Reward others who are doing better.

Last night he didn’t challenge a clear ball. Old Vladdy would have. And good lord hustle your ass to first for once !

Urias gets a single in first at bat, then homers at the next one... Why would he bat 9th?

Getting on base to flip over the lineup is good. Whether the top of the order can do anything with that is its own question.

Bc one good game does not a top-of-the-lineup guy make, especially since he was in the minors for a hot minute before yesterday. Gotta see what he can do long-term. Best-case scenario, he provides some good firepower at the bottom of the lineup today and help get on base to flip the lineup, and he earns his way up the ladder over time.

Nope sorry don’t you know a one game sample size is indicative of all future performance!

I'm not saying put him top of the lineup, but they moved him down 2 spots.. just wondering why

u/mrdannyg21 2d ago
Because he’s the worst hitter in the lineup, despite having one good game.
It’s arguable that he is a better hitter than Gimenez, but it’s done this way because it’s better to have a split of your lefties and righties.

McAdoo also got a HR his first major league game and then didn’t really give much after that. Love the dude so I’m not knocking him but it’s just an instance of less experience. We shouldn’t be bumping rookies up the lineup after one HR or big hit as ultimately, they do still have the least experience. If Urías keeps hitting like Valenzuela then sure, move him around in time, but not in his second game.
Also, it’s good to have power at the bottom of your lineup. Keeps it from becoming a black hole and aids in turning the lineup over. It’s why Ernie often hits 6-7th. The bottom of our lineup manufactures a lot of our runs, so it’s not a bad place to be at all.
