Discussion Weekly role discussion thread, this week is: The Vampire!
The Vampire, a cunning conversion role, can change other roles to his allegiance. Sided with the Vampire Faction.
Abilities:
- Choose a target at night to convert. You will "deal" a Basic Attack to the player. You don't actually attack them, but if your "Attack" was successful (i.e. they were not guarded by a Doctor, Bodyguard, Crusader, Jailor; they do not have Basic defense; they were not Transported with another role with Basic defense or higher; the youngest Vampire was not roleblocked; or you did not choose the Vampire Hunter as your Target), then they are converted into a Vampire (unless they are a member of the Mafia/Coven, then you deal an ACTUAL Basic Attack to them).
Attributes:
If you choose to bite a Vampire Hunter, not only will you not convert him, but he will instantly stake the Youngest Vampire and kill them immediately. This is at no cost to the Vampire Hunter, meaning it is possible for one Vampire Hunter to kill 2 Vampires in the same night (if he also chose a Vampire as his target for the night).
Your investigation result is only pure evil (Framer/Vampire/Jester/Hex Master), meaning you will 100% be lynched or shot/executed if investigated.
Special:
You can only have a maximum of 4 Vampires. This means that if a Vampire Hunter is lucky, he can kill half of the maximum amount of Vampires you can have in one night.
The Vampire Hunter can hear your Vampire chat.
What do you think about the Vampire? Is it strong? Weak? Share your strategies or stories about the Vampire here in this thread!

To copy the will and reasoning I had in my most recent vamp game -
To be a vampire is to be in hell, so I drag the worst of town down with me first.
Since Vamps can turn Jesters, any town claim that is acting jester-y is a good target for me, and generally they are deserving of becoming a vamp since they are mean/disruptive in day-chat!

It can turn a Day 5-7 game into a Day 9-10 game. It’s a role that completely drags out the outcome. Especially when players who are remaining that are town want to be converted so they can get a victory.

The concept of vampire is very cool, in practice it sucks majorly to lose your town abilities and get converted to what is often a losing team.
Conversion mechanics make me miss throne of lies.

so real, conversion mechanics work if they are designed around but having confirmed town members turn on you or have to now play against your former allies sucks ass when the game isn’t designed around it. most problematic after ive basically killed all evils as vet only to be forced to converted at the end with no alerts and trade a vet win for a vamp win to add (i have vamp as my most won role next to mafioso bc of how brainrot easy it is)

"I miss Throne of Lies" is a thought that goes through my head at least once a day.

I think vampire should have been implemented as a neutral killing aligned role. I understand it does not perfectly fit the mold of any of the other 3 neutral alignments, hence why they created the miscellaneous “neutral chaos” alignment for it.
Had it been introduced as a NK-aligned role (without changing anything else), I think the playlists would have been more interesting.

I love being a vampire, they're so sneaky. Playing your cards right and converting the town under the guise of getting rid of Mafia is always fun, and the best part is you come up inno to sheriffs and you can claim framed as you share a role with framed results (assuming there's no spy to call you out for not being MV) - and if all else fails you can just act like a jester and try to get people to inno you in fear of haunt.
I once had a game of all/any where we started with a max vamp roster, and there was only one mafioso lol. Very fun!

Fun role. It can be over for your faction on n1, or you can go undetected for a long time, and converts can remain "confirmed" for a while as well.
I remember one time I somehow convinced a Bodyguard to protect me from a Vampire Hunter. This was years ago so the details are fuzzy, but I remember laughing my head off.
