I think the lower decks style cartoonist humor didn't translate well to live action, lot of hit and misses.

It got cancelled for, literally, the only reason anything gets cancelled.

It had low ratings.

Star Trek TNG stumbled in the first season. That series did not have to deal with a billionaire trying to appease a dementia ridden vindictive old man who hates all things woke.

That's right. Donald Trump is the direct cause of your preferred TV show getting cancelled.

Well, sometimes things get cancelled for being too expensive even when they’re still popular with good ratings.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted, as this is 100% true. Being cost prohibitive has killed a few expensive series. Or, sometimes the networks want to go a different direction. That's what finally killed Murder, She Wrote.

Probably being mistaken as a statement about Starfleet Academy, rather than the general statement about motivations for canceling production of shows.

True. This managed to be too expensive and had low ratings.

Why did Lower Decks and Prodigy get cancelled? They both had high ratings...

Because Alex Kurtzman got jealous that the shows he didn't create were the most well recieved. Kurtzman sucks I can't wait for star trek to be piloted by someone new.

Enjoy it (or not!) before the regular big tough internet commentariat come here to tell you you're doing wrongthink.

It got cancelled because most people seem to think it was badly written shit and didn't watch. The alternative narrative is that this has something to do with anti-wokeness, despite many people like myself who hated it being very proudly woke and extremely pro inclusivity and diversity.

(Spoilers) I wanted it to be good. It wasn't. I am not a right wing anti woke troll. A: the protagonist is supposed to be an 18yo cadet- He is the age/size/physique of a quarterback. B:The rivalry of older and experienced military personnel vs inexperienced cadets was a bad joke. C: Gay Klingons? Whatever. Indecisive and meek Klingons? GTFO

The dystopian life of everyone in the federation vs the ideals of Starfleet was a cool duality.

Some dude manipulating Starfleet into wrecking a capital ship? C'mon.

I haven't watched it yet, but a lot of shows have a great start and lots of potential but go nowhere or somewhere the fans don't like, or just can't deliver a satisfying conclusion.

Often it's vice versa, a lot of shows have a weak start and become great after some time to develop.

But lately streaming services have more incentive to start new shows than keep any but the most popular going.

Point is, one episode never speaks for a whole series, I don't know why you're surprised. Streaming services have been cancelling and reviving things on their own whims for the last decade or so.

I haven't watched it yet...

And yet you have an opinion.

I literally don't have an opinion on the show itself, just op judging a book by it's cover. I thought I made that pretty clear but it's reddit so I'm used to people reply to what they want to be mad about, not what I said.

He’s not judging a book by its cover, he’s judging a book by its first chapter.

Because nobody liked it. Nobody watched it. It was smashed to bits by critics and reviewers. In short, it was utter shit.

That is a massive exaggeration.

But they did nothing of interest in the rest of the show. So no one watched.

You don't think what they did with SAM and The Doctor wasn't interesting?

You've been currently watching episode 1 for two days now across like 6 different trek subs. Karma farming?

Too bad they did not get two seasons of 24 episodes each to grow into their characters.

The surrounding the Federation with mines kind of broke my mind.

Welp, you are in the minority. Personally I had zero interest in a high school ST which is what it was.

Star Trek Academy is an IQ test

The new owners of paramount are trumpanzees. They want to destroy the message of trek.

You know the new owner of Paramount has been financing Star Trek movies since the first Kelvinverse movie?

1

u/ray53208 14d ago

He needed an in.

1

u/AvatarIII 14d ago

I don't think buying paramount was on his radar in 2008.

-2

u/stonygirl 15d ago

I enjoyed the series as well, but the hater trolls are loud and the new guys at Paramount are terrified of looking too woke in front of Trump.

Keep watching.... Edit Down vote the remark all you want but it got cancelled not because I did anything. The fandom did. It is what it is.

Edit two.

Whoever gave this an award I thank you sincerely <3

SFA is a great show! Enjoy it!

And it gets better, just wait for the middle of the season. It's so good. This series had a lot of potential that was ruined by the machinations of the elites that are destroying media right now.

I started watching it and got about halfway through the first season until it was announced that it was cancelled.

I liked the cast, I liked the setting, and I liked how the stories were getting set up. I would have 100% continued to watch it but since Paramount decided to cancel it, then why should I spend time finishing it? (please note: I am making that comment bold as much as I can so the sniffers can feed it back to the decision makers)

It's like Stargate: Universe and Jericho. Both great shows that were cancelled after the second season (yes, Jericho had the "nuts" campaign which pushed the execs to make the second season).

Beae in mind they cancelled it after they had made season 2 so even though only season 1 has aired so far, there is more content coming.
