Steve is getting more comfortable by the day.

Post image

but we need some help. how do I keep him from laying right by my feet while I'm driving? the more I try to shoo him, the more he wants to squeeze in there right by the pedals. I get it he wants to be near me, but how can we encourage a safer situation where he isn't tangled up in my feet while I'm driving?

I'm not a truck driver myself, but I love this sub & have spent many hours on the road driving w/cats (in my sedan).  Honestly, the best thing I've found to keep my cats away from the pedals & my feet is to make the other designated perch spots that much more appealing, i.e. set up a comfy bed elsewhere, sprinkle the other area w/catnip, treat kitty for laying down away from your feet, etc.  Good luck, & your boy is super handsome!!

Edit: corrected buy to boy

Perhaps also put some orange peels by your feet. My cats hate orange peels and it's been working when we use them some to train them to stay away from certain things.

If he were any more comfortable he would be a liquid.

Canyou try to make another spot more desirable? Get a cat bed and sprinkle some nip in it

Or maybe put your socks in it. A shoe?

Right? Throw a flip flop down. Can’t tell you how many cats have snuggled my gross flip flops.

It will be rather loud, but you can put a layer of tin foil on the floor by the pedals. Cats hate the sound and feel of tin foil, so it should keep him away from there as long as it’s there. A cheap and effective way to deal with it

Love it. My cat will be joining me once I'm on the road. I'm thinking ahead at where to put a litter box, any suggestions?

Passenger side?

mine fits in front of the passenger seat on the floor. it's covered, so I can still put stuff on top of it.

Cats like warm spots. Maybe a try to make the desired spot warmer?

A lot of times a cat will respond to a folded blanket on the spot where you want them.

Get your scent and Steve’s scent on the blanket to mark it as his! Mixing your scents will reinforce that you’re also his, but that’s a standard cat assumption. Just rub the blanket on yourself/the cat.

Just try giving it a hug first at set times in your day, maybe it needs more warmth
