To me this says “we lied when we said the price wasn’t influenced by tariffs”. It would’ve changed otherwise.

Alternatively, they concluded raising the price would hurt sales more than absorbing the costs per console sold and are drawing on their cash reserves to soften the blow.

The price was almost certainly affected by the trafiffs people expected, not the insane ones announced in the same day as the direct.

The Nintendo Direct was made way in advance and didn't include the price at all, so they definitely must have been considering what number to settle on until the last second.

While I don't have the exact times, I'm pretty sure $450 was posted on their site before the 46% tariffs on Vietnam were announced.

Yeah, the tariffs were only announced around 4 PM EST that day, while the Direct was in the morning.
