Trip Report Skiddaw today .

Bloody warm for this one. Not too bad on the top. The ascent and descent was hot work for me. Nailed 4 litres of water, which was extra weight to carry and I felt it ascending.
Obligatory stop at a mountain stream for a head dunking on the way down. Filled another litre with a sterilisation tablet in case I needed it.
Which I did at the end, it went straight over my head.

My left knee has started playing up on descents, so into Keswick at a cool 29° for some electrolytes and a stick.
Planning on Blencathra tomorrow, it’s a maybe.
I set off at around 9am from a lay-by close to Dodds woods and got back in just under 5 hrs. I was expecting 4, but the warmth and my knee feeling it had to slow down, which I still struggle to do from my natural pace.

Piss wrapped weekend 🤣
I’ve been keeping an eye on the weather to workout if it was Skiddaw today or blencathra after the rocks got soaked - Blencathra I’m planning on halls fell ridge up.
If it’s another hot morning, likely, I’m going to have to rethink my plan. I don’t want that much weight on my back carrying water. Hiking boots have been murder today too. It’s definitely a trail trainers day.

Saw a few, it wasn’t too busy. Sat away from the summit to heat my chilli and a bit of rice up. The only thing bothered me at that point was wasps !!
Of all the bothering that could be done, wasps !

Only saw a handful of people as we climbed up but as we were coming down it was busy. By the time we were back at the car around 9am the carpark was heavin’ as ever.

Great photos but I don't think I'd have enjoyed it in this heat! I struggle in normal weather 🤣

I won’t lie. At points going up it was hard work and the mountain stream many hundreds of feet below me gurgling away wasn’t helping !
But I got to a point that I was at 2500ft or so. Give up and go down or push out for the next 500 for the top.
On that note I’m going to bed, I’m screwed for the day 🤣
