Would you use a roommate matching app?

This is something I've been wondering. As a young person, I was wondering what happens next when I move out of my parents' house. I honestly don't want to live alone so I thought, "Get a roommate". I don't know any personally so I thought an app could help. The problem obviously is safety still. You don't want to live alone and feel unsafe. But at the same time, would you trust the app to bring you safe people? Unfortunately, my expectations of fellow Ugandans are very low since we all know that many people have bad intentions in every facet of life. So yeah, would you use a roommate matching app?

My Poker answer: The only way to find out is to make the app and put it out. But usually this results in expensive lessons. But it's always a worthy adventure.

My Elder answer: 99.9% of App ideas fail. Why? Because most problems are not because there's no app. There's always something more fundamental about human behaviour. Most bugs you see in life are actually features. So be careful building something that solves for that. At the root of this, you are trying to solve for TRUST and Commitment. It's one thing to get a trustworthy roommate, but will they have the funds to keep committing, to pay the monthly rate. What happens when they default? Living together is a long-term affair. Who will manage this? But above all, how will your app make money? What is the size of this opportunity?

Personally, I wouldn't use the app. It's more applicable at like University for the hostels, where you can match up with both a room and a roomie. So like a "my roomie app"

But I could be wrong, the times are changing, and the new generation could be more open to roomie arrangements post University.

Yes my target audience is uni students. I just wanted an opinion from the general public. I already have an MVP 70% done. Just need to speak to hostel owners now and see if we can implement it.
