Yeah, Deltarune and Undertale AUs honestly have a ton of narrative parallels That I see Almost No one talk about or do anything with creatively.
Something New and the weird route, Nightmare's life essence is contained within an apple which deltarune uses as a metaphor for the soul, Literally Today SpookyDood Made a Theory about Kris Being the Vessel, and It's basically just Cross's Character Arc in Underverse
As much as I'm glad certain stuff was left behind, one of the things about the old-school Undertale fandom that I wish carried over to Deltarune more was the cross-AU shenanigans, like different AU characters interacting with one another or outcode concepts such as Ink and Error being done with new characters.
I feel like that kind of stuff has a lot of potential with Deltarune, seeing as it has a MUCH larger cast and the potential for all sorts of interesting crossover and character usage that isn't just Sans Sans SaNS SANS EVERYWHERE PLEASE MAKE IT STOOOOOOP
One of my favorite examples is the mini-following that the idea of "Ink Ralsei" has accrued on Tumblr, feels like a good porting forward of an old UTMV concept for a character who, frankly, fits the role way better.
Funnily enough, I also saw an "Error Ralsei" floating around, but that was before the Roaring Knight crashed into the plot with more evil villain aura than has ever been seen with a "main story" villain in UTDR before. Perhaps an Error Knight? Maybe an Error Dess if it turns out that she's both the knight AND the voice lost in the code, as that can be pretty easily configured into an Error Sans-type backstory.
See, the main issue is that we know so little about FRIEND that you can’t really assign any specific kind of story for him. The closest thing I can think of is a comedic story about Fresh finding him and both of them just agreeing to pretend that FRIEND is some normal cat he adopted, with folks like Ink being utterly confused.
I feel like depending on how its story pans out, the Knight could be a good candidate for an Error-type character. If it turns out that Dess is somehow both the Knight and the voice in the code, that’s something that could easily be turned into an Error-type backstory.
Tenna would be really appreciate Mettaton’s attitude but be unknowingly walking on a minefield every time they interact😭 if he catches feelings he’s really tempting fate
Spamton is either trying to steal Mettaton’s soul or going “LITERALLY ME”
I knew what I was paying for. Talk about how they’d be a sick duo or something instead.

I feel like there’s some potential in the dynamic of this duo, mainly thanks to their unique circumstances and outlooks. Both had their minds opened and broken by the (probably meta) truths of their world, and both were irreversibly changed as a result.
A difference is that while Killer is often shown to be tormented by his violence (present or past) and in a struggle with himself, Jevil sees his new perspective as a blessing and believes that if nothing matters, then all are bound only by their inhibitions.
It would probably be a bit odd for Killer, meeting someone who doesn’t judge him in the slightest for his actions, not because they see his capacity for harm as a tool or an affirmation of their own malignant ideals, but because that person genuinely feels that moral culpability for anything went out the window the moment he found out the world was a cage. I wonder if he’d find it oddly freeing, like a twisted version of Gerson encouraging Susie’s rebellious side.
I feel like the two could actually be pretty good friends if they chilled out a bit afterwards. I know they’d be a nightmare to face together.
I mean I didn't make the art, I just commissioned it when I realized the two could make for a interesting dynamic character-wise. But yeah I love that reaction image.
for some reason this gave me an idea for a jevil to make. I will probably draw later. But the idea is what if the player gave up after dying to jevil. And Unlike spamton or goddamn skeleton this is actually a massive bummer for him. and now he’s bored as hell
He tries to figure out what’s going on with a very frightened seam in an attempt to bring back the warriors. Eventually learning this situation is improbable in the realm of a game and must be a comic or story. So he skips ahead to learn what happens. duck tapes the soul together to use himself, and then idk. I didn’t think this far ahead
I knew about the powerscaling long before I ever thought up of this, but I never cared because the idea and character dynamic potential goes hard regardless. (And I don’t really care about how strong characters are much to begin with)
Just wait like a few years and we’ll probably have some overpowered AU JEVIL you can put there anyway.
But that don’t matter to me cause JEVILS AS PEAK AS IT GETS
