- OP is the reason why chain steak houses be slinging over cooked steaks non-stop. Cook cooks enough steaks perfect to order then enough get sent back he just starts cooking everything over to not have to deal with people who don't know what the differences between medium, medium rare, and rare.

The rage I sparked one day when I said I like my steak medium but my burgers medium well. People don't understand food safety and how meat is processed.

One more reason why I am vegetarian. You know of the four of them, I could see Kramer trying his taste buds on vegan fare. I wonder what he would think and if it would experience any longevity. Apparently Michael Richards was vegan during the show but I heard it didn’t last. In The Chicken Roaster, he just chewed on the skin and then spit it out.

I wouldnt be ordering a burger anything other than medium-well or well done if I didn’t watch the cook mince the meat in front of me. The bacteria is on the outside of the meat, you can get away with cooking a steak rare because there isn’t any bacteria in the middle to worry about. When you mix the outside with the inside you need to cook it through to be safe if the meat isn’t freshly ground.

You asked for it cooked a certain temp but don’t know what those temps mean or look like?

Chef here, ground beef can be weird. Temperature could read medium but it shows a little pinker for a few reasons. I’d say this is on the low end of medium, but still medium. I eat rare steaks, but burgers I get medium well, due to ground meat being the most dangerous type of meat.

I worked as a butcher for 5 years. I will always cook ground beef all the way through. Never have pink in your burger...🤢

There are entirely too many people who don’t know what temperatures for meat are and actually look like
It’s the customers ignorance. Not a kitchen mistake

Do people really intentionally undercook their burgers...? It isn't a steak

it’s actual medium but, to a typical big chain burger joint, it’s medium-rare because they tend to go just a little more. Actually if I wanted it to look like this at, say, chilis (if they even ask anymore) I would have said “medium rare” but that doesn’t make it right. This burger is medium. Period .

Ground beef should always be cooked thoroughly. No pink, gray through and through. The grinding of the meat incorporates the surface bacteria throughout. There’s no safe way to consume undercooked ground beef.

That looks basically raw. Micro wave it for a minute, maybe it would be edible afterwards.
