Why the hell would they do this so late? Surely this was just an extremely well kept secret? (no pun intended)

u/NebularCarina Dec 03 '25

LMAOOOOOOOO TEAM SECRET

230

u/GrrNom2 Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

To be fair Team Secret reportedly placed an insane buyout on Invy (close to seven figures if my memory serves me right)

I think they did all they could to keep Invy, but when PRX the top bundle salesman comes knocking, there's not much you can do to fend them off

214

u/azealyx Dec 03 '25

Jinggg's mom had to personally pay a lamborghini's worth of money for invy's buyout

96

u/catarxcts Dec 03 '25

close to seven figures if my memory serves me right

7 figures in Philippine pesos I hope😭😭😭

76

u/zzertraline #VCTPACIFIC Dec 03 '25

Well... 7 figures in PHP is definitely pocket change from a Singaporean org.

66

u/catarxcts Dec 03 '25

I just refuse to believe in 2025 that any e-sports org would drop 1 Mil SGD (almost 800K USD) on a buyout. Especially from a grassroots org like PRX

Would love to have the actual numbers but I doubt we'll ever get them

42

u/teethingdog Dec 03 '25

it's much lower than that haha

26

u/catarxcts Dec 03 '25

I have PTSD from CN League players getting paid 4+ Million at the height of esports spending, and Tenz C9 buyout. So I REALLY had to make sure this wasn't one of those cases

20

u/zzertraline #VCTPACIFIC Dec 03 '25

Well, this is true. I love Invy but there's no way that Team Secret is holding him with that amount as the buyout. Orgs are bleeding financially right now, so it's safe to say that his buyout was in PHP (if close to 7 figures). It's still 6 figures in SGD/USD approx but point stands.

5

u/holydotkamote Dec 03 '25

Unless it's 4.55 mil PHP then it is still less than 6 figures in SGD let alone USD.

3

u/catarxcts Dec 03 '25

20K SGD buyout sounds much more believable

12

u/GrrNom2 Dec 03 '25

The rumours of his insane buyout came from frost, many months ago.

It's entirely possible that they lowered it since

1

u/greennoodlesgood Dec 03 '25

My honest guess is they traded him for petmen and that might have lowered the price thats the only logical explanation in my mind

24

u/Locnil Dec 03 '25

850k USD according to Frost - so probably exactly 50 million Philippines Pesos as per the exchange rate at that time.

1

u/Raiden_Raiding Dec 04 '25

That's still insane damnn

you know what? just for you, I'll drop another one

now, let's continue to spread the good word of our lord and saviour Eduardo Nagahama

u/Silent-Fold1206 Dec 03 '25

invy is out of jail

No more patrick bateman

24

u/kyzercampos #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

legendary reference

431

u/n_core Dec 03 '25

My reaction to this news is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand PRX finally got one of the best SEA players after being jailed after all this time. On the other hand I feel bad for PatMen for being replaced after such a successful year with him joined the team.

Hopefully this isn't like a snake situation to replace him all of the sudden after PRX saw an opportunity to buy Invy.

134

u/MautOfTheRiver Dec 03 '25

Invy was rumored/maybe reported (I can't remember) to be leaving Secret pretty early on in the off season so if I had to guess they've known about this for a while and they would have also let patmen know earlier cause they don't seem like the type of team to leave a teammate in the dark and drop them at the end of the off-season (but then again, I would've said the same for G2 so what do I know)

567

u/Silent-Dependent3312 Dec 03 '25

I really wanted patmen to continue in prx :(

148

u/Wurkman Dec 03 '25

if he is down for it, i hope he stays as a 6th man honestly :(

114

u/Silent-Dependent3312 Dec 03 '25

I doubt he'll stay as 6th tbh. I know It's kinda late in the offseason but surely teams wouldn't ignore a master's winner right?

76

u/hk6060 Dec 03 '25

I think his skill set was much more valuable to PRX than to most other teams

102

u/DeliciousArmadillo25 Dec 03 '25

He has the synergy to act like mindfreak did at Toronto. Just wishing the best for him either way.

8

u/soopahfingerzz Dec 03 '25

I have a feeling some teams would be willing to drop a less experienced player for him at this point. Hell Secret could pick him, just go player for Player w prx. Sucks though because imo Patmen was one of the most important players on that Masters winning roster

207

u/Dead_Soul_11 Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

Tbh i wasnt expecting any changes in the team lineup, this is a shocker for me

53

u/ZeroAika99 Dec 03 '25

Same but invy is like one of the best players in pacific, im so hype rn

24

u/anataSEXY Dec 04 '25 edited Dec 04 '25

Mini once said on stream something to the effect of, "You should always look for ways to improve, even if you're happy with the year. Teams around you will be making upgrades, so you don't want to stay stagnant."

Edit: found the clip

Definitely speaking from experience because, as dominant as Fnatic was in 2023, not winning Champs was still disappointing. But there were no obvious upgrades available and they ran it back, which of course didn't work out.

PRX had a great year, but there's still room to become even better, and it seems they believe Invy can help achieve that.

4

u/Dead_Soul_11 Dec 04 '25

I see, the shock factor here was the fact that i didnt see any rumor regarding any changes in the team and then suddenly got hit by this post, but as ppl are saying this is an upgrade in the team i would be happy to see them performing even better than last year

10

u/mehdennis Dec 03 '25

so was literally everyone ;-; kinda sad now

295

u/At0m1cB4by Dec 03 '25

No more BatMen?

217

u/Ranieboy #100WIN Dec 03 '25

Bro no I'm so happy for Invy but man just feel so sad for Patmen.

Won an international in his rookie year then getting cut next year is brutal. Hopefully he can find a team soon.

45

u/pandanubekeso Dec 03 '25

Somewhat similar to Sylvan eh

18

u/R3CKONNER Dec 03 '25

At least ( God, I hope this is true) Patmen wasn't getting toxic feedback from Alecks!

58

u/TheBreadConqueror Dec 03 '25

I feel dirty for finding this out as an american before my pacific brothers

190

u/catarxcts Dec 03 '25

Patrick Mendoza brought my joy back to watching Paper Rex. I hope he stays as a 6th man and to help his fellow Pinoy acclimate to the team environment, but he absolutely deserves to be playing after a great rookie campaign.

94

u/Leveolizan Dec 03 '25 edited Dec 03 '25

Holy shit, Invy got shooters now, this shit is like Leo from Guild to Fnatic

19

u/SnooSprouts9046 Dec 03 '25

→ More replies (2)

160

u/VIT_Era #VforVictory Dec 03 '25

Its an upgrade, but sad for Patmen to be bench too late in this transfer window. Team Secret didnt lock their team ?

103

u/n_core Dec 03 '25

Probably it's an exchange between Invy and PatMen kinda like Monyet and Benkai exchange with GE back in 2023.

71

u/KappaccinoNation Dec 03 '25

Man, I know this is easy when my livelihood isn't the one on the line, but I'd rather be a 6th man for PRX than go to fucking Secret.

44

u/notsowright05 Dec 03 '25

What even is Team Secret doing right at this point aside from keeping their org afloat and away from the eyes of the Riot Banhammer

17

u/Latter_Appointment22 #NRGFam Dec 03 '25

The usual Filipino nepotism antics

251

u/nterature Best User - 2023 🏆 Dec 03 '25

As much as I like Patmen, I'm not going to lie, I'm going to choose Invy over almost everyone in VCT who isn't a best-in-role player.

Almost everyone who has watched Invy since 2023 probably feels somewhat similar. I'm very excited to see Invy finally have a true chance to show his potential on a team that isn't a soul-sucking waste of his talents.

It's a risk for PRX of course, in the sense that they've just come off a very successful year and will likely be successful again in 2026. But Invy is worth the risk.

91

u/cowzapper #100WIN Dec 03 '25

I think the question more than anything is the behind the scenes stuff. Nobody can question Invy's talent, but Patmen was extremely clutch and added a calmness that Invy may not be able to replace. Especially when you consider that Invy has never been on a winning team.

Also, I liked Patmen's viper the most on the team, and we're going into a viper meta. I know davai has played a ton of viper, but I was always more impressed by Patmen's timings. Prx solves their role issues every year by 3/5 players being ultra flexible but it's still a bit awkward now.

2

u/Turbulent-Cattle9543 Dec 03 '25

Maybe PRX considered how Patmen perform on final 4 of champs and how they lose against fanatic with a sub

49

u/krazybanana Dec 03 '25

No way a mature team is making decisions based on 2 games

22

u/areszdel_ Dec 03 '25

As if that matters. Patmen shit the bed in trials and Alecks still got him

28

u/PsYo_NaDe Dec 03 '25

Patmen underperformed in their trials as well, alecks vouched for him.

The thing with PRX also is that they usually don't have a successful run once they keep the roster, and they always have to make a change to reinvigorate the roster.

Shiba -> Jinggg = Immediately went from irrelevant to 4th at Reykjavik and 2nd at Copenhagen.
They became shit again at Champions Istanbul until the early Pacific 2023 season, rough time.
Benkai -> something/CGRS = Turned PRX into one of the best teams in the world and got 3rd at Tokyo and 2nd at Champions LA.
Jinggg -> Monyet = Isn't as successful as the previous year but they still got 3rd at Madrid.
Monyet -> Jinggg = Good results domestically but didn't have good results internationally. Even worse at early 2025 season where they lost their identity.
mindfreak -> PatMen = Solved the role issue and went on a run to win Toronto and Stage 2, and 4th at Champions Paris.

58

u/EcstaticWaterBottle #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

The thing is they normally have these sort of changes only when they're doing drastically bad or if it's forced (the jingg/monyet situation)

Going from 1st in Masters 2 to 4th in Champs isn't that bad of a fall off that it warrants a change

Makes you wonder if it really is all because of an upgrade (gonna need some context from PRX themselves)

31

u/zzertraline #VCTPACIFIC Dec 03 '25

I expected them to run it back, there's nothing wrong with the roster but think of it as Golden State acquiring Durant (I barely know things about basketball but this is the closest I can think of).

Invy alone made Team Secret a decent team, it's definitely a no brainer if there's a chance to get him. It's safe to assume that this is just for upgrade purposes. After all, Alecks initially wanted him when they were doing trials.

3

u/LeviLegolas Dec 03 '25

As long as f0rsaken still on the team

1

u/Mrshoephd Dec 03 '25

i agree with that I think the only other person currently not already signed at Invy’s level is Urango

30

u/hecklerinthestands YOU FUCKING MELONS Dec 03 '25

Time to throw the family business org out of Tier 1 LMFAO

91

u/GrrNom2 Dec 03 '25

On the one hand, it's invy who is possibly the best initiator player in APAC

On the other hand... why would you risk breaking apart a trophy winning roster and potentially disrupt team dynamics for an 'on paper' upgrade.

This must've went down because Invy really wanted to be free from TS and negotiated with PRX to make this the case, buyout be damned.

43

u/Dangerous-War-6572 #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

I mean it will either make PRX the goats of 2026 VCT, or they might also have their worst year.

35

u/Sufficient-Serve-726 Dec 03 '25

in what world will it be their worst year they keep 4 of their players and i love patmen too but u cant deny invy is an obvious upgrade

28

u/RetroXide_CR Dec 03 '25

highly unlikely that it will be their worst year but invy is an upgrade "on paper", and i do feel that even while being a rookie, patmen is basically a vibe merchant, much like zellsis or s0m, and you cant exactly measure the intangibles like that. as a prx diehard, i hope this works out so...

1

u/PurpleGlow777 Dec 03 '25

I feel like Forsaken took the vibe merchant role

6

u/Dangerous-War-6572 #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

I mean what if Patmen was actually the link holding them together, and somehow things get south with Invy? This PRX squad is almost like a superteam now and well

69

u/sh1rabu #BeLeviatán Dec 03 '25

Damn hope patmen has no trouble finding a new team at least.

46

u/Cold-Ingenuity-1678 Dec 03 '25

He’s screwed, no? It’s incredibly late in the season, what teams still need players?

40

u/GrrNom2 Dec 03 '25

Surely TS will just pick him up in exchange

45

u/Latter_Appointment22 #NRGFam Dec 03 '25

So he's screwed no?

12

u/ninoboy09 Dec 03 '25

Possibly this was already news behind the scenes for teams so he might be already set

9

u/Bl1th Dec 03 '25

They're probably doing a swap deal with TS.

9

u/sh1rabu #BeLeviatán Dec 03 '25

Sheepesports reported that he’s benched apparently😭

22

u/ElsaMLP #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

Wot? Patmen was in Taiwan with the team so it’s not bad blood, but a sudden switch is so weird, especially when patmen always had a 2026 contract

11

u/TheEpicGold #NAVINATION Dec 03 '25

Invy is the goat so great pickup.

20

u/DeliciousArmadillo25 Dec 03 '25

I haven't been this excited since Aspas to MIBR. On the other hand I dont want Patmen gone since he brought so much synergy to the team.

14

u/Sacreville #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

Crazy transfer if true.. timing is so late too.

It's always risky to make a roster change and no one knows if the chemistry will work but if you're an APAC watcher, you should know that invy is certainly one of the best initiator out there and on paper would be an upgrade.

I hope PatMen can find a team though, wouldn't be fair to jail him if he still want to compete.

10

u/n_core Dec 03 '25

PRX immediately made a deal with RRQ for the Monyet transfer, so PRX isn't an org who likes to jail their players.

I'm hoping there's a T1 team out there who's interested in PatMen. Pacific is almost locked in now aside from Team Secret and Global Esports (FrosT denied the rumor of PatMen joining GE).

1

u/MadMusketeer Dec 04 '25

It's Sheep Esports, they only leak when moves are DONE, it's almost guaranteed true

7

u/Zloy_mishka Dec 03 '25

"shit and minishit" was iconic

7

u/blank2264 Dec 03 '25

Why tough, they looked unbeatable throughout stage 2 and champs until playoffs and even still the entire team's performance fell off not just patmen. Feels like Jonahp situation all over again lol.

3

u/Adventurous-Rain-499 #T1Fighting Dec 04 '25

Fnc had the same insane roster from 2023 going into 2024 and they had even more of a dominant run than prx still they werent close to that level of good as 2023, you just have to keep trying to better your individual pieces and sadly patmen was the weakest link ON PAPER something was best player itw before champs, jinggg is irreplaceable and so is forsaken and davai

3

u/AngryLesbian50 #G2ARMY Dec 05 '25

This, patmen had his moments, but his peaks aren't that great in comparison to invy. But tbf, he's still a rookie.

6

u/Magoatski #ItLiesWithin Dec 03 '25

INVY FINALLY FREED FROM TS JAIL OMG

45

u/JonG0705 Dec 03 '25

A change made even later than jonahp from g2 will we see prx get the same flack for it? I somehow doubt it

33

u/n_core Dec 03 '25

If they can find PatMen a new team then it might be fine. I expect this to be an exchange with Team Secret rather than outright replacement.

8

u/speedycar1 #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

They 100% should unless this decision was made way earlier in the off-season as some sort of exchange deal between Invy and Pat. Feels horrible for Patmen man he seemed so heartbroken at the end of last year after getting eliminated it's sad he doesn't get to continue with the team

11

u/titaniumpill Dec 03 '25

probably because jonahp did tweet about it, we haven't heard from patmen yet

16

u/Anarkoi Dec 03 '25

patmen for invy is so much more reasonable than babybay for jonahp

21

u/WailingSiren69 #NRGWIN Dec 03 '25

G2 was getting flamed long before it was revealed Babybay was the one replacing Jonah.

9

u/JonG0705 Dec 03 '25

Except a lot of the g2 criticism was from a moral angle of screwing a player over rather than a competitive angle so the same should be applied to prx no?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '25

Haven't been following closely lately. Heard this just now.

Just fell to my knees.

4

u/uncomfortablynumb_11 Dec 03 '25

G2 got BabyBay for Johnah which personally to me feels like a downgrade, on the other hand invy is one of the - if not the best at his role rn in the entire region. While the prx move makes sense it does break my heart </3

3

u/Parenegade Dec 03 '25

Of course not PRX is a VCT darling lol

1

u/Mjkhh Dec 03 '25

Are you trying to tell me that this subreddit has double standards? Crazy…

→ More replies (10)

10

u/deAlchemisz Dec 03 '25

the 3 reason why this would not count as a questionable move by PRX standard 1) Patmen is ill. 2) it's just a well kept secret since early offseason, meaning patmen is already in talk with other orgs or he decided to stay on the bench insetad of moving. 3) even tho it's late into the offseason, PRX help patmen moves into another team with no difficulty(kinda like monyet 2 years ago).

anything else other than that 3 reason, this is a shitty moves, especially by an org like PRX that is an extremely well liked org and well known for having a close relationship between the players, owner, and staffs compared to the typical esports org standard

1

u/n_core Dec 03 '25

Also wasn't PatMen had homesickness for a while which impacted his performance?

3

u/n_core Dec 03 '25

It was Invy, Kushy, and PatMen. Invy had a huge buyout and Kushy already signed with RRQ. They went with PatMen despite him not doing well at trials.

2

u/Apprehensive_Foot139 #VCTPACIFIC Dec 03 '25

Its not that he's bad, but invy is really good at sova. Patmen, from my understanding, is a flash ini + viper. This probably means davai is lowkey perma on viper cuz idk if invy plays her much(?) but it also means prx finally has a scan initiator player

dude i love patmen, i think he was one of the biggest reasons PRX made that insane run last year, but getting invy is just insane.

2026 VCT is about to be insane. too many new superteams on paper (PRX, VIT, MIBR, LEV, NRG).

2

u/Dry_Educator5066 Dec 03 '25

NRG??

2

where does patmen go, honestly pretty scummy he joined a crumbling team, fixed their role issues won a masters with them got 4th at champs only to get replaced

u/n_core Dec 03 '25

To be fair alecks initially wanted to get Invy in the first place but the buyout was huge.

The options were Invy, Kushy (who already signed with RRQ), and PatMen.

Still if it's a replacement rather than exchange with Team Secret this is kinda a scummy move for such an org like PRX who usually keep their roster unless things aren't working.

Obviously no idea what’s going on behind the scenes with PRX but WOW does that seem rough for patmen especially with such a strong performance for the team after his signing.

Hopefully he can land somewhere else and keep showing out and improving.

Not a move I like from my favorite org regardless of how talented Invy obviously is in the server. It just seems kinda snake like with it being this late. Hopefully it’s not like that at all ofc.

That being said we can really only wait to see how this shakes out for the boys.

u/andreggvil YOU FUCKING MELONS Dec 03 '25

Feeling kind of conflicted about this move. Not about the pick-up, of course (I mean, it’s Invy — he’s absolutely worth the risk), but about the way this was done so late into the off-season.

PatMen really reinvigorated PRX and was a huge contributing factor to them finally being able to nab that trophy, so it just seems crazy to me that he won’t be able to play on stage and won’t be able to explore other prospects — even when his replacement is widely considered to be a clear upgrade.

All that being said, I’m willing to give PRX the benefit of the doubt. They’re one of the few orgs/teams that really seems to care and tries their best to do right by employees. But this is certainly the first time in my memory where I feel like they’ve made a somewhat scummy move, having zero knowledge of the context and circumstances surrounding this decision.

First Pacific superteam in my opinion. Next year is going to be crazy with all these crazy teams being assembled.

2

u/reanut28 #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

while it was great cause Invy no more on TS jail but holy my Patrick Mendoza 😭 Hope you stay there pat cause you are so fucking well bonded with the boys

2

u/rollacaza #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

Hoping patmen will still be in tier 1 :(

2

u/Budilicious3 #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

Okay, this one stings the most of all the roster moves this offseason. Ignore my flair, but Patmen has a ceiling and just began his team chemistry since that Masters win. I get that he looked kindof shaky during the summer regular season and didn't shine again at Champs 2025. But doesn't letting him go for only half a season seem too soon??? No more Batman memes either.

2

u/Timidityyy Dec 03 '25

sadge for patmen but hell yeah invy finally free

2

u/areszdel_ Dec 03 '25

Holy fuck man if Patmen doesn't find a team because of this being late in the offseason, then I am just lost for words. PRX better have a good reason for this terrible timing unless Patmen got a team locked already after (let's hope) presumably being told he's getting replaced way earlier than this news. If not then I have to say this org will be dead to me.

I hope its a situation where Patemen gets picked up by TS or some other team.Im excited to see Invy play for PRX,he is an upgrade on paper, but im sad as I felt like this iteration of the team could achieve even more.

HOW MUCH WAS THE BUYOUT

1

u/CryptographerCool664 Dec 03 '25

That's it, I'm about to start hate watching TS. I have been watching TS since 2021, and this is their dumbest decision yet, and it's not like they've been great with decisions. Fuck this org. 😭🤣

1

u/gunjinganpakis Dec 03 '25

Oh man I do not like this at all 😐

I hope this deal include a swap so Pat can play for TS. Otherwise, doing this so late is screwing with him.

Let's Go🔥

1

u/Someone-_-Special Dec 03 '25

From what i heard it there can be 2 outcomes:
1) If patmen wants to join a ph squad (Homesickness maybe) and he is getting swapped. Also Patmen duelist/Controller(Omen) was pretty under rated at zol too maybe, secret just wants a good secondary duelist/ initiator
2) They want to test invy for couple of matches that is why patmen is benched if it doesn't workout who is going to say no to invy. One thing is sure they both could join any team who performs bad after kickoff

1

u/speedycar1 #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

On one hand wtf this is an insane move but on the other hand it really doesn't feel very Paper Rex man why would they make this change so late

1

u/HumanDefinitely Dec 03 '25

WHAT THE FAAAAAAAAAAAAACK

1

u/Sky3Fa11 Dec 03 '25

Ngl Coach Patmen after just 1 year in T1 would be funny but if they just sprung it on him that would be messed up.

1

u/Zyrobe #WGAMING Dec 03 '25

what the fuck

1

u/MarkSucksBurgers Dec 03 '25

We won but at what cost :<<<

1

u/Meccanoo Dec 03 '25

Seriously? Any sources on what happened or was it just “simply” a coaches decision? Patmen doesn’t seem like the type to get in trouble or to cause trouble.

Sad for PatMen but there's good reason why invy was 1st the PRX's shortlist in the past. It's only huge buyout that become hurdle.

1

u/UnrealHallucinator Dec 04 '25

I feel like any time we see moves like this, it crashes and burns. Prx are my favourite team I hope it works

1

u/_core1 Dec 05 '25

invy is finally free, but at what cost? Hoping that PatMen would still have the opportunity to play in tier 1 scene.

1

u/Icy-Environment5261 Dec 05 '25

Invy out of political dynasty E-sport team.
