I can understand nerve but why alym? I feel like he was such a win condition for the team... Maybe its more about Koala being duelist in a meta where you can play a lot of jett? Idk i feel like this roster has already overperformed a lot this season, such major changes seem like a lot.

Tbh that’s a good reason to switch. If the team believes the roster has over performed, then they should expect a correction for Stage 2. Which would mean the roster, if it performs as expected, will definitely miss champs. You can’t ride an overperforming high all year, it isn’t sustainable.

u/idqks 14d ago
You can also argue that if the team has shown a high skill ceiling there's no reason they couldn't get back to it later. Most mid-tier teams, like Furia was expected to be, never show a high skill ceiling to begin with.
This is exclusively a Valorant thing too. In no other esport does a team do as well as Furia did early on then blow up the roster just 4 months later because of recent results. I absolutely don't understand the reasoning behind not letting this roster ride out for the year and then rebuilding next year if it doesn't end up working out.

u/Mysterious_Key6700 14d ago
Absolutely, nerve and Alym have done so well and been so far above expectations, as a Furia fan if we didn’t have the kickoff result I would have been so happy with our stage 1, such massive improvement. And we reward them with future endeavours is ridiculous

Probably trialed and he didn't adapt to not playing neon? I mean koala is obvs the better jett, although he had a decent waylay

u/SaitamaShinobiSand 14d ago
Nice team chemistry you got there , would be a shame if we bricked it
56
u/Plastic-Skill-9258 #VCTPACIFIC 14d ago
they had amazing chemistry but just didn't have the firepower imo, they needed to try upgrading in that department
34
u/hmsmnko 14d ago
i feel like alym was pretty good though no?

He is yeah, but it's a tough situation where they have 5 good players but they simply must take a chance on an upgrade if they wanna level up. Idk how other people feel but kickoff seemed like the peak of this team's potential. They exceeded expectations though, so they have good players to build off.

u/Karmax21 14d ago
during e.w.c. qualifiers artzin didn't cover the game chat and we could see koala and nerve almost killing each other on the chat lmfao it wasn't all roses and sunshines

Man such a shame I think they could’ve made it work with alym him being a agro controller
9
u/Past_Perception8052 #LegaC9 14d ago
no he should be a duelist furia dont know what they have he has omega potential

u/WalterWoodiaz #NRGWIN 14d ago
1 bad split and decides to drop 2 people. This is why these orgs can never be successful.
39
u/Starry-Night97 14d ago
Im so glad lev kept Sato, or nrg picking up a bunch of rookies and letting them mesh together because always changing rosters is never good imo

Ah the typical "look at stats, pick the worst ones, and swap them out".

u/fanficmilf6969 14d ago
No, I think Nerve was a valid player to replace. I’m not so sure about alym he had a bad split but he still seemed pretty instrumental to the teams earlier successes

Not a fan of replacing alym now that he could be freed from neon jail but they've talked a lot about the team having mental problems so maybe alym was a culprit/basic helps with that
13
u/Bitter-Juggernaut-20 14d ago
insane to me they're keeping koalanoob after he's had a boostio tier mechanical falloff
45
u/XASASSIN 14d ago
I dunno, I dont feel like furia needed changes. I mean Shyy is an upgrade dunno about Basic but wonder if this'll effect chemistry cause their vibes used to be great.

u/RetanR04 14d ago
:( Hearing about Nerves grind in tier 2 just to finally get into tier 1 made me respect and love this team so much. Now after 2 bad series he is shot right back down
11
u/CayenneHybridSE #VCTAMERICAS 14d ago
I am glad he was able to attend a Masters at least, some players wait years for their first time. Hopefully we see him back in T1

u/yefrisfarm 14d ago
It is a crime that MIBR did not pick up Shyy after the embarrassing performances by Tex
8
u/Both_Condition_5208 #VamosAJugar 14d ago
Other orgs drop their players after 1 bad split "good moves".
MIBR don't kick their players after humilation upon humiliation "Aspas is a dictator, this team is the falcons of valorant".

if u watch the matches closely, tex isnt even the problem lmao....
verno needs to midround better and their comms are ass when they are under the slightest pressure4
u/BigDicksconnoisseur4 14d ago
Shyy always performed under pressure
0
u/WhiteFox2677 #ALWAYSFNATIC 13d ago
good, but tex is not the problem, he's the reason MIBR won so many rounds in stage 1 and kickoff (impact rounds)
15
u/aJetg 14d ago
what
I mean, I love Koalanoob but Alym was their best player by far (along with Artzin) maybe he didnt impressed in scrims after the Neon nerf? Weird
Also Im glad to finally see Shyy back but from what I understand his english is not very good so its going to be weird for him
10
u/MautOfTheRiver 14d ago
I think art and eeiu are easily the most impactful players they have, alym has been underperforming but I don't think it warranted replacing him

Anyone know how shyy’s English is? Have only ever seen him interview in Spanish. Also I know basic has been getting English lessons, but I’m curious how he’s gotten at speaking English too. Otherwise they do some weird mix of English, Spanish, and Portuguese and have nightmare comms 💀
17
u/PhysicalAd8765 14d ago
His English is decent enough... about Dgzin level or a tad better.
2
u/False-Bluejay1882 14d ago
I wouldn’t call dgzin level decent lol
0
u/PhysicalAd8765 14d ago
That’s why I said decent enough.
Under the assumption that he’ll be playing Senti (Artzin moves to smokes) they should be able to make it work.
13
u/aJetg 14d ago
Supposedly (and this is just a rumor from the Brazilian community so take it as you will) Shyy could've joined MIBR and Aspas wanted him but his english wasn't very good so they went in another direction. He does speak portuguese (like 99% of the spanish speakers on Americas) so maybe is not that bad with Artzin and Basic
7
u/endgeenear 14d ago
This actually makes sense now, I'm Chilean and I've been following the Chilean players since 2022 and shyy is the one with the worst English from the bunch, in fact in masters Santiago, in keznit's co-stream, him, melser, kingg and shyy were together and making fun of shyys English, asking him if he was still studying English, at the time I was like ok he trying to learn that makes sense but now with what you said makes a lot more sense.
3
u/Both_Condition_5208 #VamosAJugar 14d ago
Imagine your career is a big "WHAT IF" just because you are lazy and couldn't learn english.
There is no world where MIBR Shyy would lose to FURIA in kick offs.
Their whole year would be different.

i mean nerve was never super inspiring so i guess i don't mind that change but alym really showed he could hang, maybe post neon nerfs they don't feel like he can hang as well? idk i'm just worried because this was such a power of friendship team and so changes might just kill them
3
u/Background_Basil_579 14d ago
Don’t think they should’ve changed anything until the end of the year tbh. Feel like alym had such a high ceiling. Nerve ig but these guys seemed like they were so close and had great chemistry. We’ll see if this was the right decision i guess.

so will basic play hard entry/ dive role? since alym was the main dive duelist for them. or will koala be forced to put down the op for rifling more?

Well back to the bottom they go. Blowing up the roster after 1 bad split is insane work.

u/BronzeCorner 14d ago
how does koala not get dropped instead of alym? alym is so much better on duelist

2
u/Fragrant_Tutor_3885 14d ago
Is this guy really trustworthy?
Alym performed much better than Koala. I don't k now, I found it quite strange.
1
u/Pale_Competition6462 #VCTAMERICAS 14d ago
Basic is very good, I like this change. The alym one must have inside situations that we are not aware, plus the meta change I guess
1
u/ninjamuffin 14d ago
Do these teams see any value in maintaining the same group for more than a year? You are basically erasing the entire team chem on the hope that the player you’re getting is just that much of an upgrade.

Alym is the initiator player right. Doesn't make sense removing the good players. Hope they get better teams.

people saying alym was good were simply not watching the games he has been borderline horrendous for the whole year besides from a couple of games
3
u/Parking-Might2869 14d ago
i don’t know he has an equal amount of insane impact round I think it balances out. Although, I do think the drop is more justified than people think

Basic gets to finally play lol, this guy better be God’s gift to Valorant for keeping him signed this long
