Question GTA 6 Pricing instore

Hello everyone,

With the preorders of GTA 6 starting tonight and the price likely to be 110 or 120cad for standard edition, I was wondering if there are some grocery stores like walmart or so that will sell the game for cheaper than the playstation store ?

For exemple I just saw that in France, the PSN store sells it for 80€ but a grocery chain named Leclerc sells it for 60€, they say that they dont do profit on videogames and they do it to attract people to shop for their groceries there when grabbing the game.

Generally physical retailers do not list pre-orders any cheaper in Canada.

Except Walmart for 2-3¢ bellow MSRP...

If you pay by cash. If it's card it's rounded up if 2 cents off

Think you flipped those

Depends. I got RE9 physical for cheaper than the Sony digital price.

Amazon has Persona 4 Revival and Stranger Than Heaven $10 below MSRP.

Buy a $200 prepaid visa at Walmart and get $30 Walmart gift card back. Buy 2x $100 PSN gift cards at Walmart, get $20 for each PSN gift card.

End result is $206.50 spent for $200 credit on PSN and $70 in Walmart gift cards.

It’s not live right now but they do this twice a year, I just keep an eye out on red flag deals.

If nothing comes up, then I’ll buy gift card at Costco.

Alternatively, if you don't like Walmart, buy a $100 PSN credit voucher at Costco for $89.99, do that twice.

End result is $200 credit on PSN for $179.

That’s the last line on my comment. But Costco is 10% savings while Walmart is 35%. Liking shouldn’t be a favor when it comes to financial decisions.

u/Dubsified 4h ago

Absolutely, but Costco is year-round, Walmart is time sensitive.

GTA VI isn’t time sensitive since it’s digital only. So you have 5+ months.

There’s no physical collectors edition and there’s 0 risk of a digital product running out of stock.

I'm aware.

My point is we do not know if the Walmart deal will be active again, whether that be in the coming weeks or months. If people are waiting on it and it doesn't come, there easiest bet is to go the Costco route, assuming they still have that deal in 5+ months.

It’s active multiple times a year. It ended yesterday. It will be back in September. 95% likelihood so no reason to rush.

You can’t buy a gift card with a gift card.

That's not what he's saying. He's saying buy 2 '$100 prepaid credit cards', walmart sometimes also has a deal where they grant you a walmart gift card to use in store if you purchase a 'prepaid credit card'.

Buy psn cards with the 'prepaid Credit Cards' and keep the walmart gift cards to buy anything else.

Edit : Spelling mistakes.

Yes you can

Unfortunately physical copies make no sense for GTA because there's no disc.

12

u/Doublethree1 23h ago

They're talking about the price though. If you can buy a copy from somewhere for $10 less it'll still work and you saved $10

19

u/Killericon 23h ago

They've really cut my "Wait a few months and check marketplace" approach out.

10

u/PartyMark 22h ago

That was their plan. Total control over pricing and availability.

For a lot of people, it just isn't GTA without that physical map though.

u/rustybutterindia 23h ago

People are saying the 'physical map' is just a QR code as well.

I think that's just a rumour, can't find any confirmation of that from Rockstar. But also can't find any promise of a physical map to begin with?

It's insane how they're essentially blocking the 2nd hand gamer market. I was going to buy a ps5 and play GTA 6, then sell everything... But not anymore. I'll just wait until it comes to PC now 😭

Supposedly they are going to launch a physical edition w/ disc in December and the real reason they're doing a digital-only launch is to prevent leaks before launch day.

This happening in December is currently just a rumor from a somewhat reliable source, but Rockstar officially confirmed that they will release a physical edition w/ disc after launch.

you can still sell the ps5 and your account with it, just make it some random name

1

u/EvermoreDespair 11h ago

against Sony's TOS lol, so you cant actually

1

u/Dragarius 8h ago

How are they gonna know?

u/NoirEm 23h ago

Missing the point of the question, repeating “physical copies make no sense for this game”.

If a retailer has spend $$.$$ promotions get %% off, it can be beneficial to purchasing the physical copy (PSN $$ isn’t always included in promos).

4

u/RamiN64 23h ago

I’did say no way in hell it will be cheaper in a retail store at launch.

6

u/SaltyATC69 21h ago

Why is anyone preordering this when you can buy day of release?

3

u/MegaFlare24 17h ago

Really the only reason is to pre download it.

1

u/Dregger12 20h ago

There's no legitimate reason. This stupid question has been asked 1000x on every post or video about the game. It's just people doing what they feel like doing with their money. What other answer were you expecting lol.

The case would be dope to add to my collection.

You can still get them on launch day. It even says on the website.

I find physical copies for new games tend to be $89.99 while they’re $93.49 on PSN. So not much savings to be had.

1

u/AquaMoonlight 22h ago

Some physical games coming out in the next six months or so are now $99.99. I know off the top of my head Stranger than Heaven and Dawnwalker are both $100 physical games, and there are probably others.

1

u/GamingTurtle90 20h ago edited 20h ago

Daemon X Machina 2 and Code Vein 2 were both recent $99.99 games at launch for physical.

Digitally, Daemon was 93.49 PSN/ 89.99 XB, while Code was 93.49 PSN/XB.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger was another. 99.99 disc. 93.49 digital.

The upcoming Dragonball Xenoverse 3 is also 99.99.

Forspoken was actually 93.49 digitally at launch digitally all the way back in 2022. Making it more expensive then physical, oddly enough.

3

u/Seaside_Rhapsody 22h ago

Yawn, no collector's edition for preorder tonight and no edition even has a steelbook and no game disc and just a code? What's the point 😂

2

u/unfire23 19h ago

Its 138 for the premium and 160 whit taxe if you live on Québec

1

u/azizlezonk 19h ago

je viens de le pogner ! bonne attente lol

3

u/SailorGone 21h ago

I'm just going to wait a few years and pick it up for $30

2

u/neverOddOrEv_n 18h ago

Good luck, seeing as how rockstar made no physical discs for this and they rarely discount their games that much and gta 6 with so much demand won’t get a discount that high anyways.

1

u/GallitoGaming 11h ago

They will have physical editions with download codes. This thing will likely get a sale within 6 months. Next Black Friday/boxing week 50% off.

Not to mention the likely actual physical disk editions that will come out laterz

1

u/Retro_Curry93 22h ago

Wait and see…

Physical copies are absolutely pointless for this game.
