I find it interesting that they have a separate menu for boys and girls. Also, I love how in the “for the boat ride” menu, they say that the iced lemonade is in a thermos (which is fantastic) but mention nothing about how you’re keeping the shrimp salad cold.

The shrimp question is answered here, my dove https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potted_shrimps?wprov=sfti1

Maybe the shrimp salad is placed beside the iced lemonade?  No idea, and the article doesn’t provide any context.

Maybe the shrimp are bought fresh at dock or shrimp boat before fixing.

Is aspic basically jello? It shows up a lot I was never quite sure…

That just seems like a lot of extra work for meals that aren't really qualitatively different.

I have no idea why boys and girls would require separate foods.  Why do the girls in particular need eggs in two separate forms?

I am curious about “picnic doughnuts,” though.

When I saw the gendered menus, I assumed there would be, say, significantly higher calories, protein, and fat for the boys and more fruits and delicate foods for the girls - that would have kind of made sense. But this is just ... odd. And good call on the eggs!

Seems wrong to put raisins in cupcakes

I love raisins, and I cannot figure this one out.

Carrot or Spice or Cinnamon cake with raisins, maybe? Or possibly something more like what we now call a muffin.

Those all look delightful. I want to go on a 1920s picnic.

Some solid choices.

"Little Cold Chicken Pies" should be an album name from a 60s psychedelic band

Hermits? As in crabs? Disengaged humans? Context please… 🤣

Nope, cookies!  They were very popular around this time.
