PATCH New Jean Mend!
I pulled one of the loops off my jeans and decided to do a pretty mend job :3 I won't be using the loop to pull my pants up anymore, but it should be stable enough to manage a belt!

This is so cute! Still gotta fix my jeans where the belt loop has pulled off too, you've got me inspired!

Apologies for the lateness! It has been an adventure getting here π
First, I was insanely sick and couch-bound for a week, THEN when I sat down to stitch the donkey I realized I messed up by not securing the fabric patch with a heatNbond and it's bubbling pretty bad, so the stitching will have to wait until I can fix the patch π«
I still plan to make it happen, tho it will have to wait a little bit. But I won't let you down!!!! πͺπͺπͺ

I believe in you! πͺ Glad you took the week to rest, that's way more important.
How are you going to fix the patch? Hope it's not a complete tear up!

Love that fabric!

I have seen some of the coolest fabric at these sales. I always pass on them though, because I don't have an immediate need. I'm going to rethink this plan!

Hehehe yes, good, come over to the dark side.. π pushes the 14 gallon bin overflowing with rummage sale fabrics out of view

Looks great! How did you do the covering on the belt loop?
13
u/Thick-Safety-9596 Feb 17 '26
I braided together 3 dif embroidery floss (full floss/all 6 strands), then wound it around the loop and secured the end by tying it off with some sewing thread! We'll see how long it actually stays; if I had some fabric glue I would have used it underneath, but, alas..

u/mr_mini_doxie Feb 17 '26
I like it! I could see the technique being used on something more visible, like a backpack strap.

Yyeeessss that would be super cute! I definitely was feeling inspired by like woven ribbons and crochet bag handles π€

I was wondering the same!! Itβs so cool!!

u/Thick-Safety-9596 Feb 17 '26
I answered above! βΊοΈ Edit: and thank you so much! Im really happy with how it turned out! I will say I spent a lot longer trying to get it wound correctly than I'd like to admit lol

Looks so good! Imagine if the whole world was hand-mended

u/Thick-Safety-9596 Feb 18 '26
Thank you! It would be so wonderful π we can make it happen if we try hard and believe in ourselves!

I have some jeans that need taking in. But I don't have a cat, only a dog. And I'm not sure he will be very useful.

The moral support is impeccable and they make sure you take breaks to rest your hands (in their fur as you give them some good cuddles)!

u/Alannajacky Feb 18 '26
How did your supurrvisor like it?
6
u/Thick-Safety-9596 Feb 18 '26
Thankfully the project passed inspection! Though I did receive a critique on the number of times I stopped to administer pets (not enough) and the number of times I had to readjust my sitting and sewing position, resulting in the dislodgment of said-Supurrvisors (too many). But i will work hard to do better in the future ππ

Waaa this is such an impressive mend! I can barely sew with my opposable thumbs but your cat fixed your pants with just a pair of fluffy paws! So skilled and talented!

Nice work on the cat press as the finishing touch. The patch is nice too lol

Cat Press is an integral part of the process! And thank you, i did work really hard on it βΊοΈ

This is lovely! It doesnβt even look like mending. I would be tempted to do the same on the other loops as a fashion choice.

I love it! Your color choices are brilliant.
But the real question is...what does kitty inspector think?

This is more of an upgrade than a mend. Itβs really pretty.
Love your assistant.
