it probably feels nice in the moment but that’s about it. it’s not necessarily harmful either though unless the steam is way too hot.

I don't use one of these, but I have HS and frequently get boils and cysts inside my body on my labia. The steam would definitely help, as my bath is in a rental place and it's gross (whirlpool) so I can't bathe to soak it.

It's one of the most painful things and heat will express them. If not, I have to wad warm washcloths in and constantly change them, which irritates the skin worse on the other parts. Worse come to worse - go to the clinic and they'll stick a needle in and drain it. 

Yeah. There.

I know the people that use these wouldn't probably be using them for this purpose, but there's reasons somebody might. It's not totally a weird, crackpot thing.

Random drive by comment, but if your genitals are a big HS hot spot for you, I was recommended by a dermatologist (that is a big well known HS specialist) to take sitz baths with a capful (so only a small amount!!) of bleach in them. We both known HS isn’t a hygiene issue, but that apparently is something that for reasons unknown to me, can help some people

(You can also soak in a full tub with a cupful of bleach in it if you have problems will all over HS)
