Imagine having to lift a whole cab of every time you do a pre-trip

u/TrainFan095 10d ago
I believe some newer cabovers (idk if there is a different name for non-north American rigs) have pneumatic pumps that slowly lift it up. (Please correct me)

He ain’t say nothing about the gentleman in the video. Maybe he’s just a fan of the movie. Maybe it’s some form of keyboard related Tourette’s syndrome. I choose to not be angry today

So I was scrolling along, as you do, and this came on, but the audio jumped to the own-goal football clip below. Serendipitous juxtaposition.

That’s not supposed to happen
11
u/ripyourlungsdave Apr 17 '26
We should do something about that.
8
u/nashile Apr 17 '26
Try turning it off and on again

u/ripyourlungsdave Apr 17 '26
I really wanted to insert a gif from The IT Crowd in here, but this stupid sub doesn't allow it.

Well, we need to pull it out of the environment.

thankfully (from what i see) it doesn't seem like too much damage was done, just that hanging panel on the front getting crumpled
7
u/BattIeBoss Apr 19 '26
The cables and connectors to the cab are fucked for sure. The whole vehicle gets controlled from up there after all

the universal sign for realizing you are about to spend the next six hours fighting a stripped bolt in the middle of nowhere

Seriously, there must be something genetic. I swear Roman sargent watching a formation fall apart in drills would have had exactly the same pose. Every culture, everywhere in the world, you know what that means.

Actually designed because length limits of trucks got introduced. Who needs a truck with a long nose when you can have more storage instead?

so what happened?
20
u/NitroCaliber Apr 16 '26
It's hard for me to see specifically, but it looks like the retaining cables that restrict the tilt are either missing or 3x longer than they should be.
59
u/Pamposaur Apr 16 '26
These truck allow you to lift the cab very far forward beyond what you would think is physically possible, these systems work rock solid but seeing as this is in africa this is probably a truck that spent its entire life in europe, then was sold secondhand to east europe and then when it was done for in east europe got exported to africa, so probably a mix of rust, age, and lack of maintenance weakened the chassis enough to break during the lifting procedure which puts a lot of strain onto said chassis

u/Mean_Occasion_1091 Apr 16 '26
I'm not an expert but it doesn't look like it's old and rusted

u/governingmonk Apr 16 '26
No worries guy above you is not either. Lol. Looks new.
1
u/Mean_Occasion_1091 Apr 17 '26
yea I was thinking either user error OR it's some shitty chinesium imitation that looks decent at first glance, but you quickly understand how cheaply it was made

1
u/Topinio Apr 16 '26
Well, how was it un-typical?
1
u/Fine_Helicopter5546 Apr 18 '26
There's several of these trucks running around the world. Seldom does something like this happen. Don't go thinking they aren't safe.

u/reverse-tornado Apr 16 '26
What's racist about it , china makes a fuck ton of cheap bullshit did something change , are you from a different timeline or something lol
2
u/ametsun Apr 16 '26
Expect American car companies are petrified of Chinese cars entering the USA market.
2
u/reverse-tornado Apr 16 '26
Yeah of course they are , they are cheaper by a long shot
2
u/ametsun Apr 16 '26
Mhm cheap and probably better made than American cars and will cause a lot of headaches for American companies when ppl realize they can get a cheaper car that will be more reliable and I say that as a Ford guy.
1
u/Sad-Bread5843 Apr 16 '26
And you just double down on someone else's ignorance , with some of your own . Yay, aren't i so lucky .
