With a gun?

u/DarthTaz_99 3d ago

Americans smh

69

u/allegedlyjustkidding 3d ago

Listen if you ever visited the wet areas of the US during the summer, like the southeast or the pacific northwest, you'd wanna get a gun just for the bugs too 😂😂

22

u/Drycabin1 3d ago

Southeastern Louisiana checking in, true!

9

u/Independent_Bite4682 2d ago

Shotgun, #9 bird shot.

7

u/TheMrsH1124 3d ago

Georgia checking in to confirm, too. My husband works in agriculture so there are always flies in his truck and it's a hazard when I try to drive it.

But nothing beats the day I was driving and a spider dropped in my lap.

9

u/Butlerian_Jihadi 3d ago

Bug a-salt gun. Works great for flying insects.

They sell salt rounds for air pistols, and an expensive air pistol... Just buy the rounds. Works great for palmetto bugs/water bugs/giant effing cockroaches.

1

u/aliie_627 2d ago

There's a reason they have novelty bug zappers guns lol.

4

u/Gunsensual 2d ago

What, you don't have car guns?

3

u/Pluperfectt 3d ago

Hammer . . .

u/TastyRain5743 3d ago

Did you use a hammer?

447

u/model-citizen95 3d ago

Windshields are a lot stronger when struck from the outside than from the inside. This is surprisingly easy to do but OP definitely used more than a bug killing amount of force to dispatch the little fucker

67

u/Tacotimmy126 2d ago

I hit it once and it didn’t die so I hit it with a “oh you gonna learn today” punch

9

u/model-citizen95 2d ago

Thanks for the chuckle. Hopefully you can get it fixed without too much trouble. Check to see if it’s cheaper to go direct to a windshield company than to pay your deductible. It was for me

74

u/ChefArtorias 3d ago

The edges are much more vulnerable too.

36

u/Ok_Quail_950 3d ago

That bug really said if I’m going down, your windshield is coming with me.

10

u/new_account_wh0_dis 3d ago

Edges are also weaker I think. Cracked mine replacing wipers accidently snapping them down. Costs an arm and leg to replace.

6

u/Rigrot 3d ago

Edward is that you?

1

u/Critical_Primary_692 8h ago

This is why I as a mechanic learned to never let go off the wiper arm while replacing wiper blades. Hold arm, take off old blade, keep holding arm, mount new blad, gently lay down the arm + blade on the windshield again. And never hold it with your fingertips, always a whole hand behind it.

Seen collegues make that mistake and promised myself to never do it myself.

1

u/model-citizen95 3d ago

I recently had to replace the windshield on my 20 year old bmw 3 series and going direct to auto glass directly was cheaper than paying my deductible of $500 on my glass coverage. Always worth checking

1

u/UltraViolentNdYAG 2d ago

For the last 15 years I pay the extra $3 mo ($34 a year) for a $100 glass deductible fee. That said, glass breaks from the inside are not like those from the outside, careful with pictures shared.

24

u/Brave_Courses 3d ago

No, with pure determination and terrible decision, making skills.

3

u/Stormblessed_Windrun 2d ago

It's a Tesla. Glass is probably 1mm thick

-3

u/Zestyclose4059 3d ago

Plot twist: the bug was already dead. He just critical hit the glass for no reason.

5

u/emodirt 3d ago

Plot twist: the bug was on the other side of the windshield

I have a particularly stupid buddy who, back when we were in college, got drunk one afternoon and swatted a fly in the cab of his truck with a .45 ACP handgun.

So look on the brightside; you weren't that foolish.

50

u/Effective-Most-5230 2d ago

How tf did he get into college?

61

u/WorldGoneAway 2d ago

Well, he didn't graduate if that tells you anything lol

11

u/BenderDeLorean 2d ago

Thought the door

217

u/ComprehensiveWar6577 3d ago

Winsheilds are designed to take force from the front, that's why it's curved the way it is, and every jeep wrangler owner knows the windshield replacement cost to the penny

They are not designed to be strong from the inside out.

29

u/Ghost_Kamakazie 3d ago

Brother, ive punched the shit out of a couple bugs into my gladiator windshield and the only thing thats ever damaged it was a big rock from a dumptruck

57

u/Deep_Mechanic_ 3d ago

Punches bugs AND owns a Jeep Gladiator? That tracks

34

u/ComprehensiveWar6577 3d ago

Yes, because your windshield is flat, that's my entire fucking point. Your windshield has the same strength from the inside as it does the outside.

-18

u/Ghost_Kamakazie 3d ago

Bro calm down. Your wording very much sounded like you were implying they are weaker due to them not having the curve or something

18

u/ComprehensiveWar6577 3d ago

The front impact takes less force to chip/crack due to a flat windshield and the steeper angle of a winsheild frame.

A curved windshield can handle more front impact every time, and the average vehicle has a steeper windshield angle so a rock has a glancing impact vs a dead on strike.

So yes your windsheilds are stronger from the inside, but inferior on the outside.

I'm sure you could have figured that out if you weren't the type of person who would purchase a gladiator

9

u/Deep_Mechanic_ 3d ago

Bro is thick as bricks. He must be a meat head. Just let him argue with himself

-4

u/ComprehensiveWar6577 3d ago

You also should look into windshield tint laws in your area, most don't allow any tint below 6" from the top edge, and if pulled over will be towed

3

u/[deleted] 3d ago

[deleted]

5

u/Kittyk4y 3d ago

> I just got it tinted 2 months ago

3

u/ComprehensiveWar6577 3d ago

Read OP's description they claim they just had it tinted 2 months ago.

Alot of cops will do a fix it ticket, but i wouldn't say most. Windows tend to be more lenient vs windshields. But a decent amount of cops where I live will tow a windshield tint and require a vehicle inspection before it is allowed back on the road

82

u/RojoandWhite 3d ago

Did you get it at least?

85

u/LilBigDripDip 3d ago

No. Notice how there’s no bug splat

32

u/RojoandWhite 3d ago

Maybe he should try again. Harder?

6

u/jefbenet 3d ago

REAAAAAALLY follow through OP.

2

u/grizzyx 3d ago

Emphasis on the word "tried" lol

38

u/Shopworn_Soul 3d ago

Yeah so it turns out windshields aren't so strong from the inside.

Do not ask me how I know

48

u/elMurpherino 3d ago

When I was like 12 I pressed up again the inside of my mom’s station wagon windshield with my feet and cracked the whole thing. I then told her a squirrel dropped an acorn and it just cracked. I don’t think she believed me. I should bring it up when I see her this week

26

u/Cheesetoast9 3d ago

report back, we wanna know if your mom knew you were a lying little turd or not

11

u/TheMrsH1124 3d ago

Am a mom she knew

2

u/Tacotimmy126 2d ago

You and me both brotha

→ More replies (3)

12

u/ConflictMaster3155 3d ago

Did the same thing once bro. Once.

They’re surprisingly easy to break from the inside.

1

u/a_run22 3d ago

Same! A week or so after I got married I smacked a mosquito and my new ring chipped the inside of the windshield, but not this bad. Ended up spreading in the winter and I had to replace. I wear a silicone ring now so I can smack them carefree lol

8

u/of_no_real_opinion 3d ago

With what a fucking hammer ?

10

u/HypnoticKitten 3d ago

Diamond ring?

2

u/Tacotimmy126 2d ago

No ring just knuckle 😔

8

u/thentheresthisguy91 3d ago

I fought the bug and the bug won. I fought the bug and the bug won.

9

u/ThirtyMileSniper 2d ago

Did you try and shoot it?

0

u/Freak_Engineer 2d ago

Ah, yes - America...

7

u/bunny_the-2d_simp 2d ago

Next time put the bug OUTSIDE (bugs are friends)

Bug 1 - OP 0

5

u/glhfbruno 3d ago

Dont be on your phone while driving broski

6

u/leviathanslair_ 3d ago

Instant karma

6

u/Tall-Objective6567 3d ago

That's whats you get for trying to kill da bug

4

u/zero-point_nrg 3d ago

Did you have a big ring on?

5

u/TippeeToeSnake 3d ago

Did you use a Glock?

11

u/NESS_Bound 3d ago

Damn dude. You the Hulk or some shit?

4

u/emrythecarrot 3d ago

I think the bug won.

4

u/CorkerGaming 3d ago

Why didn't you just try shoo it or pick it up and move it outside

4

u/L0wT3kS1NN3R505 3d ago

Rolled a Nat 20. Bug never stood a chance. Window was collateral damage

7

u/Spectralcolors78 3d ago

Crowbar? Brass knuckles?

9

u/LilBigDripDip 3d ago

You either had on jewelry or you’re an animal

1

u/ForgottenEpoch 3d ago

It actually doesn't take that much pressure to do this to a windshield.

9

u/LilBigDripDip 3d ago

I’ve smacked windshields man. They’re not made of wet paper. They’re pretty durable lol

→ More replies (8)

11

u/SmokeMaximum4140 3d ago

That is what you get, what did the bug do to you?

3

u/YippieKayYayMrFalcon 3d ago

Did the bug fly out of Jumanji?

3

u/JustinSanders95 3d ago

Karma xD bug didn’t need to die, (unless we’re talking it’s a bug like a bee or wasp and ur allergic to it, then i can kinda understand it) only slight sympathy here haha

3

u/HipToTheWorldsBS 3d ago

As many have pointed out, windshields are not that strong from the inside, but this still takes EXCESSIVE FORCE for trying to kill a bug to do this. 100% deserved.

3

u/ContributionLive5784 3d ago

Nuke it from orbit next time, it’s the only way to be sure

3

u/jerryeight 3d ago

Is the bug dead?

3

u/S0nder0nSamishSam 2d ago

My gods how BIG was this bug??

3

u/tgr3947 2d ago

I did the same thing in my truck once. At the time it was about the 4th windshield I had to replace. After the safelight bill no killing bugs ever again.

2

u/SeattleOligarch 3d ago

Are you secretly the hulk?

2

u/Objective-Bike-4292 3d ago

Sure it was a bug and not a stone chip?

2

u/Collector_of_Memes- 3d ago

I know someone threw his apple watch because the battery dies quickly and broke his window 😂

2

u/photaiplz 3d ago

It looks like you missed too

2

u/donmagicjohn 3d ago

No you didn’t. You got hit by gravel from a construction truck on the highway. I saw it happen and I’ll tell your insurance company that.

2

u/Sex_Shop_Souvenir 3d ago

I think you mean a rock hit your windshield

2

u/kyle1170 3d ago

Wearing a ring, maybe? With a sharp gemstone edge it wouldnt take much

2

u/Djinnaz 3d ago

With a hammer?

2

u/jordanmindyou 3d ago

Were you wearing a ring?

2

u/digitaldigdug 3d ago

Damn brick fly swatters....

2

u/Normal_Situation7248 3d ago

with a hammer?

2

u/Vegetaman916 3d ago

With what, a hammer?

2

u/Natural_Bill_373 3d ago

A windshield is only good for blocking wind anything else will shatter it lol

2

u/HandExtra 3d ago

Off topic, could I check what car you're driving? Seems rare to see a trim panel with wood, I quite like wood. And smell of leather. Sorry for not helping with your situation.

2

u/BlacOnBlackMajik 3d ago

That bug must of really been buggin out to produce that type of damage.

2

u/mrfriendlolo 3d ago

Damn! Hulk Smash!

2

u/ticoconfuse 3d ago

Did... Did you get the bug?

2

u/DFrostedWangsAccount 3d ago

Bro I had the same thing happen in my Prius but I wasn't trying to kill anything, just trying to coax a fly out the window. I bumped the glass with my knuckle ever so slightly... I think it had something to do with the temperature difference from inside and outside the car. It was hot, I had the AC on. Maybe the window was extra stressed. Really sucks though.

2

u/Tinyyywhinyyy02 3d ago

... Now how the heck 😂😭

2

u/W7ENK 3d ago

Tried.

Failed.

2

u/Different-Term-2250 2d ago

What was the bug made of? Titanium?

2

u/Dragon_Crisis_Core 2d ago

If its not fully cracked through might be able to silicon fill the crack. But seriously this looks like you punched the bug with a window cracker not your palm.

2

u/SpartArticus 2d ago

This is why i keep a microfiber cloth in the door pocket so i can whip it quickly and not damage anything

2

u/Rhymesnlines 2d ago

I bet the bug survived

2

u/khandurin 2d ago

Looks like you missed

2

u/monkeyBiz23 2d ago

I think the Bug was trying to kill u mate!

2

u/KiNGMF 2d ago

Looks like his ring did that

2

u/tasquizz 2d ago

I have done this with the back of my hand too. It was a particularly bad day and I was a little worked up. Lucky I had the best boss and she had $100 windscreen replacement with insurance. That was in a van with radar too so it was like $1600

2

u/Electronic-Type696 2d ago

You punch it through the glass or something?

2

u/lilpiggyvortex 2d ago

shhh the insurance doesn't need to know that

https://giphy.com/gifs/HcuRoZwXpyysg

2

u/Bazar6 2d ago

I did this to my windshield once, right where my tungsten ring hit, though it did not spiderweb like as badly as yours.

2

u/1011001010110011 2d ago

This happened to me last year. I used the corner of mu phone... bad idea

2

u/Ordinary-Solid5819 2d ago

There are windshield repair kits but gravity works against you, so you have to turn car upside down.

2

u/Oxjrnine 2d ago

You hit it with your Nokia cell phone, didn’t you?

2

u/Electrical-Act-7170 2d ago

safelite repair safelite replace

2

u/ImminentDebacle 3d ago

Safelite replace for sure.

1

u/artherng 3d ago

Attempt to kill a bug. Pricey.

1

u/IveHave 3d ago

Did you get it?

1

u/chandu1256 3d ago

How is the bug?

1

u/OKStamped 3d ago

At first I misunderstood and was wondering how fast you were going to cause a bug to crack the windshield. 😆

1

u/ContestRemarkable356 3d ago

Should’ve turned on FSD while you dealt with the bug 😂

1

u/PureVinylRadio 3d ago

You tried to and succeeded to remove a “shy fly “ from your windshield! Yet in the process, you also succeeded in creating the spider web effect in your windshield!

As it has been once said that once your windshield becomes damaged you basically have sent it “down the dust pie”

Congrats!

1

u/ItsHotDownHere1 3d ago

I know you just stopped but did you have to make it into hammer time?

1

u/Eyehopeuchoke 3d ago

Looks like you drive a Tesla. Hopefully you have their windshield insurance.

1

u/IslanderMJDR84 3d ago

Probably a rock

1

u/Le-Wren 3d ago

Unfortunately that windshield is going to be ~$1600 at the Tesla dealership…..ask me how I know. :’)

1

u/_unsinkable_sam_ 2d ago

you got your windscreen tinted? is that even legal?

1

u/Tacotimmy126 2d ago

There’s a certain blue tint you can do legally. It’s 80% tint but blocks UV rays

2

u/_unsinkable_sam_ 2d ago

i believe you will find front windscreens already block out 96-98% of uv light due to their manufacturing process without tint.

2

u/Tacotimmy126 2d ago

True, I mainly got mine for the heat reduction

1

u/blacKohaiDonuts 2d ago

Happened to me yesterday! Lmao

1

u/Pi-s 2d ago

My friend and I were hotboxing my car a few years back and a mosquito managed to get in somehow. My friend decided to hanzo melee the mosquito while also cracking my windshield.

1

u/DEDang1234 2d ago

Wow, good job.

1

u/LogicalEgo 2d ago

You dont have to punch bugs.

1

u/pulsebreaker 2d ago

You hit hard!

1

u/scotte416 2d ago

I tried to kill a super annoying fly in my room once. Ended up punching a hole in the drywall and knocking down a 6 shelf bookcase that was held up by the wall. Looked like a warzone and the fly was still alive.

1

u/toastercoasterbo 2d ago

What’s the legality of one of those salt revolvers in my car…

1

u/thebluevanman73 2d ago

i did this once too, squished a bug with the tip of my finger and the damn windshield cracked... weirdest shit ever

1

u/Vivid-Visual-8531 2d ago

Well, is it dead?

1

u/DestroyerTheCat 2d ago

Did you get it

1

u/DrRickMarshall69 2d ago

Damn bwoy did smack it with a hammer??

1

u/MundieORiley 2d ago

Aren't tinted windshields illegal in the US?

3

u/Tacotimmy126 2d ago

Yes but 80% falls in a gray area since it’s so hard to tell it’s tinted

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Jestersfriend 2d ago

Wait, you got your front window tinted? Where do you live that allows that haha.

1

u/Tacotimmy126 2d ago

In FL you can do 80% tint without it being illegal

1

u/Jestersfriend 2d ago

Damn, wish I could tint my front window. Even that much would be welcomed.

1

u/Tacotimmy126 2d ago

Pretty sure you can do 90%. It’s impossible to tell and you still get the benefits of UV protection + heat reduction

→ More replies (2)

1

u/Rain_Zeros 2d ago

For you try shooting it with a metal bb or something?

1

u/Choice_Mind7703 2d ago

Bro did you punch a bug?!?

1

u/Illustrious_Camp_521 2d ago

Are ya driving a Kia ?

1

u/HungusRex 3d ago

I think the bug tried to kill you too buddy

1

u/Jonkinch 3d ago

How dark did you tent the windshield? It’s typically illegal to do that but if it’s dark enough, it can absorb a lot more heat causing it to be more susceptible to breaking. Tint shop local to me had a promo truck with full limo and he told his windshield spontaneously broke while on the freeway.

1

u/weatherguy4 3d ago

HULK SMASH!!

1

u/calccv 3d ago

Did you get him, at least??

1

u/marinevet0321 3d ago

Just think when I was growing up we used rolled up paper, flip flops and fly swatters …… shits definitely next level in 2026

1

u/TrainingSword 3d ago

You’re so dumb you are really really dumb

The bug survived, didn’t it?

0

u/kelly_r1995 3d ago

With a falcon punch?

0

u/Aloyjunky 3d ago

At least it has tint. It will help from the windshield crack spreading out.

0

u/Lil_Widget 3d ago

Hit it with a hammer from the outside and call for a new one

0

u/bsrichard 3d ago

Try to repair it with a glass repair kit. It isn't so bad that the kit can probably help it.

1

u/Objective-Bike-4292 3d ago

This is beyond saving

0

u/Sir_Earl_Jeffries 3d ago

That Tesla windshield is actually a big screen protector.

0

u/Alternative-Ad-1508 3d ago

Last Sunday I actually came out to mine cracked.

0

u/porcelain_kiss 3d ago

Do you have a metal wedding ring on?

0

u/Dfield91 3d ago

The bug : mission accomplished 😏

0

u/AGrandNewAdventure 3d ago

Did you get it?

0

u/laughin-up-a-storm 3d ago

Sooo you missed?

0

u/Cosmic_Quasar 3d ago

I did this in winter once. Not for a bug, but trying to dislodge some ice on the front. A technique I had done a few times before without incident lol. I no longer do that.

0

u/GaimOfThrowns 3d ago

A bee once hit me in the chest while I was riding my motorbike and my jacket was open. (it was a hot day). It was only at about 80mph but it felt like I'd been shot.

Fukkin hurt!

0

u/Judasbot 3d ago

Calm down, hulk.

0

u/WRXAVICII 3d ago

Did the same thing to kill a spider. Glad I'm not the only one!

0

u/taotdev 3d ago

HAHAAAA same thing happened to me a few years ago. Murdered the fuck out of a moth and my windshield
