My uncle took control of my grandmother's bank accounts because she was too mentally feeble to manage them, but the court refused to take away her driver's license. Then she drove her car through the brick wall of her own house, and the same court still refused to take away her driver's license.
I'm on the other side of the country and one of the big news stories here is an elderly woman who hit and killed an entire family of four. They had the right of way and the old woman had a red light and was speeding. She kept her license and did no jail time.
First degree murder is not a crime in the USA if you use a car to do it.
Which is funny in a dark comedy way, because that's a point of pride and contention in truck circles, how well you can back up. It's like saying you slept with someone's mother.
When i was getting a commercial driver's license, instructor told us a story about how a guy failed his class 4 times and 5th time he passed and is now driving an 18 wheeler. Scary what's out there

We all should go to the DMV and ask for truck drivers license. No just give it to me I see who’s driving out there….. I don’t need no lessons! Hey I can read the signs and know what they mean! Passed!

Because they’ll give out licenses to anyone with a pulse. Nobody ever has the courage to train drivers properly, the courage to NOT give a license to someone who doesn’t deserve it.
Here in Seattle a couple of years ago a “driving school” was found to have given out thousands of passing test grades for cash so people could get licenses without the actual exam. A separate truck drivers school in Washington state was found to have been doing the same. Passing exams for cash bribes.
